Dont let them tame you. That quotes always felt very poignant to me because it gets at a part of myself Ive worked very hard to reclaim. As a young kid, I was talkative and energetic and fascinated by everything. I was just as comfortable telling adults all about my opinions as chatting to my peers. As I got older, I learned that my confidence made other people uncomfortable and gradually turned inward, getting more and more anxious about speaking up. Through my adolescence and young adulthood, Ive consciously worked at shaking off those expectations and learning to release that all of that innate creative energy. To me, that letting go is wildness and its led to decisions like starting college at 12 years old, moving to New York on my own at 19 and letting go of my career expectations to focus on activist work.
