This is Milo, @rescuemuttmilo He’s a German Shepherd/Rottweiler/Husky mix. A local rescue brought him and his siblings back from an area in Northern Ontario (lots of strays in the area) at around 5 weeks. Milo’s owner had originally went to the rescue to look at another pup, but left with this guy. The rescue had 14 puppies at the time. The woman who runs the rescue brought Milo from a bed in the corner that he was tucked away in with his brother. She explained that the other pups were not too nice to him after a foster had taken him at 5 weeks and brought him back a week later. He was having a hard time back at the rescue, super sad little guy, always hiding in a corner if not being held by one of the volunteers. So Milo it was...his owner was even asked to take him early and foster to adopt to get him out of the shelter! Hi my name is Ari, I’m Mercedeh’s kid. I’m also the one that had first found Mili. It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you all that my mom passed away. She loved this account and all of Mili’s followers so I thought it was only fair. When I brought Mili home my mom’s reaction was how do we best help this little cat. I hope that everyone can take that mentality with them approach life with the loving kindness that my mother had. Mercedeh Mirkazemi Ward – April 11, 1964 – July 3, 2020– Mercedeh Mirkazemi Ward passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday July 3, 2020 at the age of 56. Mercedeh is survived by her husband Bruce; children Kyle and Ari; Kyle’s fiancé Shelby; parents, Manoucher and Madiheh Mirkazemi: and sister and brother-in-law, Mina Mirkazemi and Shahin Esmali; as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Born in Tehran, Iran, Mercedeh moved to the United States in 1979 to attend high school and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts with her aunt’s family. She graduated from Worcester Academy in 1982 and went on to pursue her engineering degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. A gifted artist, Mercedeh combined her creative talents with her engineering skills to build a distinguished career in children’s toy design and manufacturing. She spent the early part of her career at Mattel working on the engineering, fashion design, and production of Barbie and Barbie accessories. This was followed by time at MGA where she brought to life the Bratz doll collection, which became a ground-breaking cultural phenomenon in fashion dolls. In her most recent role in product development for Spin Master, she worked on the popular Paw Patrol collection as well as numerous other product lines. Mercedeh was a deeply spiritual person who was motivated and moved by kindness. She never hesitated to extend herself on behalf of a person or animal in need of support or nurturing. Despite having settled in California, Mercedeh held a special place in her heart for the East Coast. I am incredibly heartbroken by the loss of my baby boy, my prince, my Jillybean early this morning. He was literally the best part of me. I always liked to say that we shared a personality, well he had the better half. He taught me so many things. He taught me how to think of and love something other than myself. He taught me that I needed to be responsible, because he needed me. He taught me how to keep going even when I wanted to give up everything. He taught me how to be happy from the simplest things, even in my darkest times. Oh my god how I am going to miss my Jillybean. You will always be with me in spirit and in my memories. Gdy instytucja, która z założenia zajmuje się udzielaniem pomocy zwierzętom, odmawia przyjęcia kociaka, ponieważ jego miejsce pobytu to nie ich teren. Szkoda, że gdy organizują zbiórkę pieniędzy kilometry się nie liczą 🙂 #Mariolka została znaleziona w środku lasu przez ludzi, których bardzo zaniepokoił jej los. Próbowali znaleźć dla kotki bezpieczne schronienie, jednak w rozmowie telefonicznej z jedną z organizacji prozwierzęcych zostali poinformowani, że to nie jest ich teren i mają zostawić kota w tym miejscu, w którym się obecnie znajduje. Na szczęście cudowni ludzie nie zrezygnowali i znaleźli pomoc w #fiellmonie. Mariolka jest bardzo wychudzona oraz zarobaczona. W uszach niestety pojawił się świerzbowiec. 💕 Tuesday Tails 🐶 • Feat: Jasmine • Story from her furmom Theresa: “This is Jasmine. DOB 18 January 2018. Jasmine and 5 littermates were brought into the shelter in St. Lucia, with their eyes not yet open, so they knew they were less then 2 weeks old. The mother dog was dead. The volunteers told them all home to nurse them along. Only two survived, Jasmine and a “blonde” sibling. The other pups sadly died of what staff believed to be “parvo”. Jasmine was adopted out to a local family in St. Lucia, in March of 2018 but was sadly returned in November after the family got another dog and said that Jasmine wasn’t getting along with the other dog. She was thin and very lethargic. She never had problems before or after the adoption with other dogs. She remained in the shelter for a full year, until one day I saw her picture on line, on Kijiji and because she resembled our Mexican rescue dog who had died only months earlier, we felt we had to have her. Although we were leaving for our winter away in Texas, the Bruno Project did everything they needed to do to make sure we were a suitable home for Jasmine and we picked her up in Toronto, not knowing if she was a good traveller or not. Well, literally 5 days of car travel later she arrived in Texas with us, had a big “stretch” and looked at us as if to say “This is great....bring it on!” And so without missing a beat, she has become the heart and soul of our home, sharing us with our other Mexican rescue dog, Tamale. “Jazz” is loving, very affectionate, smart, fun and most of all very appreciative. We can’t imagine life without her. We are so grateful for everything the Bruno Project did for her, saving her for us. BEHIND THE SCENES: On Thursday we received a litter of six 1-day-old kittens and their mom, brought to us by a local Animal Control Officer. The kittens had very bad fleas, which can be deadly for animals at such a young age. Our team worked together to gently bathe each one and spent the afternoon combing and treating them to ensure each would survive. • We’re happy to report this feline family is doing well, they are currently under close observation in a specialized neonatal foster home. Linus & Lucy moved to 44 Monroe as foster kittens from AAWL in April. They quickly acclimated to high-rise living and stole the heart of their foster mom, Janine. She officially adopted them and now they are living the high life, enjoying the view and are bringing their mom constant laughter and joy! We believe one of the keys to improving the lives of shelter dogs is investing in the future. Thats why were so excited to be hosting our first group of externs from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine to learn all about Gigis! Last month Tsa, a fourth-year vet student with a Masters of Public Health, spent one of her two-week clinical rotations with our team learning about shelter medicine. She assisted with surgical and dental procedures, performed exams and biopsies, visited one of our rural Shelter Partners, created a simulator, and shared her own knowledge and experiences with our staff too. Ieri sera intorno alle 18 alcune persone che transitavano in via San Mansueto a Milano, hanno sentito un miagolio provenire dall’interno di un vano motore di un’auto parcheggiata. Con l’intento di attirarlo per tentare di catturarlo, hanno posizionato una ciotolina con un po’ di latte. Dopo avere aspettato qualche tempo alla fine il piccolo micio si è fatto coraggio ed è sceso dal vano motore, per cercare di bere un po’, ma, non appena una persona ha tentato di avvicinarsi per prenderlo, il micino si è spaventato ed è tornato nella parte alta del motore, senza farsi più vedere. A quel punto per evitare di metterne a rischio l’incolumità, una delle persone che aveva assistito alla scena ha contattato l’ENPA di Milano chiedendo il loro intervento. Una volta sul posto, l’operatore dell’Ente, ha subito posizionato una rete elastica intorno all’auto per evitare che il gatto, nel tentativo di scappare, potesse essere investito da una macchina. In seguito, grazie alla presenza della Polizia Locale è arrivato il proprietario dell’auto che ha aperto il cofano per consentire al soccorritore il recupero del cucciolo, avvenuto dopo diversi tentativi e con molta pazienza. “Situazioni simili possono contribuire a rendere le persone più consapevoli del fatto che per un gatto il cofano di un auto possa rappresentare un nascondiglio caldo e che, per evitare di fargli male sia necessario adottare alcuni accorgimenti” spiega il presidente di ENPA Milano, Ermanno Giudici. “In casi come questo, infatti, è sempre meglio presidiare il posto e/o posizionare un cartello sull’auto dove scrivere della possibile presenza di un gatto all’interno del cofano. Un avviso lasciato a un proprietario assente può salvare al micio la vita! Its #NationalDogDay PAWS helps ensure Anil, a PAWS client of eight years, has the resources to care for his beloved dog, Tango. Tango is very important to me. He gets me up in the morning, forces me to walk and exercise, and helps me to feel strong, said Anil. PAWS believes that the healing impact of the human-animal bond is one of the best forms of support available—especially for those encountering life’s biggest challenges, including aging, illness, disability, and isolation. A companion animal can be central to ones health and well-being. Each month, Anil picks up pet food at the PAWS Food Bank. Before Shelter-in-Place, he would also bring Tango in for some TLC at our monthly dog washes at Pet Food Express. Although group dog washes are on hold due to the coronavirus, we continue to deliver on our essential services so clients like Anil can stay with their beloved pets in this uniquely fragile time. In fact, weve expanded our outreach so even more people in need in our community have access to pet care, food, and supplies. Anil is still able to pick up his monthly pet food by making arrangements with his care navigator. Every month I pick up food and its easy to make an appointment. For clients who are advised to limit their outdoor exposure during the pandemic, we have increased our number of home deliveries thanks to the dedication of our Food Bank staff and volunteers. As usual, PAWS care navigators continue to support clients with access to veterinary services. When Tango needed veterinary care, PAWS helped with finances and to arrange surgery. My care navigator touched base throughout Tangos recovery, said Anil. They were there for me. PAWS helped me financially and emotionally. Remember her? We tried finding a home for her? Tried to get her off the road and into a safe home? But no one wanted her. And tonight she died. She got hit by a bus. We watched and held her in our arms as she took her last breath. Words cannot explain the pain that consumed my soul as we stroked her little body that had grown so cold. . One minute she was playing and the next lying in a pool of blood. I keep thinking If Only. If only I could have protected her. If only so many things would have gone differently.
