Hi all. About 7 months ago I went to work for an organization called Clean Prosperity. Our work is about finding ‘market-based solutions to the climate crisis that will grow our economy.’ For (the very few) people whose eyes don’t glaze over when I tell them this, I go on to talk about carbon pricing, and the importance of baking in the cost of pollution. Anything less creates an impossible burden for consumers. It’s the simplest, easiest, cheapest, fairest, quickest way to solve the climate crisis. But it’s much easier to tell this story with comics! SOCIAL MEDIA TELLS US THAT SELF-LOVE MEANS…🤢 (and if you’ve seen @thesocialdilemma 🤦🏽♀️) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▪️being skinnier⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▪️having thinner thighs⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▪️applying a thick layer of makeup on your face every day to cover up all your flaws⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▪️using filters so you don’t look “terrible” on camera⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▪️be prettier in outrageous fashion ▪️comparing ourselves to everyone else⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ...and all the many other reasons that only destroys our self-esteem more and more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead, self-love is first and foremost accepting yourself for whatever you are right now.
