S.M.A.R.T. Goals All of us have previously set goals in life that we failed to achieve. Sometimes due to external circumstances, sometimes due to a change in priorities or simply due to lack of organisation and motivation. However, people often also fail because their goals are not well defined. In this video our trainer and general manager @ashykirby breaks down the concept of S.M.A.R.T goals. S.M.A.R.T is an acronym for: ۰ Specific: Well defined, clear and unambiguous . e.g. Weight loss or muscle gain or getting better at a particular lift. ۰ Measurable: within specific criteria e.g. lose 2kg. ۰ Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve. ۰ Realistic: within reach given all important variables/constraints. 2kg weight loss in 2 months is realistic for most healthy people. ۰ Timely: with clearly defined timeline including a start and end date. Once you have SMART goal it becomes a lot easier to focus on execution and keep yourself accountable, which means you are much more likely to actually achieve it. I’m so grateful for these past 7 years I have been able to do my ‘job’ full time. I’m grateful that 11 years ago my partner bought me the camera for my birthday that would change my entire future in the most positive and fulfilling way. I’ve had over 400 couples stand before my camera in those 7 years. I’ve been witness to some supremely joyous moments, and sadly some heartbreaking ones too. One thing remains, you guys let me into your worlds for a day, and beyond. Our images have ended up on walls, in albums, used for slideshows and family photos nights and for funeral service books and as legacy pieces. Thank you to all my couples for giving me this privilege and trusting me, especially the ones that took a chance on me right at the beginning, back when I worked out of a converted wardrobe in my spare bedroom, with my cat for an assistant, wondering what the future would hold. Thank you for allowing me to turn this passion into a career, move into my own studio, support my family, and meet the greatest community of industry friends and colleagues a girl could have. Here I am in the pediatrics section of the hospital - where gut health begins (that and I love Keith Haring). I want to share with you all my story about something I just experienced with my almost 3 year old son. He got a big bite under his eye that swelled up. When it didn’t get better and almost swelled his eye shut, we signed up for a telemedicine consult with a pediatrician. The first thing they recommended was antibiotics. Now I’m not a pediatrician so I respect their assessment and plan but I wanted to make my standpoint clear. “My son has never taken antibiotics and I would like to prevent unnecessary use. Is there anything else we can do or are antibiotics necessary now?” Try a couple doses of Benadryl and a compress and if it’s not better by the evening, then take the antibiotics, she said. Well, after the Benadryl and compresses, he was much better. And like that, I narrowly escaped unnecessary antibiotic use in my child’s growing microbiome. What can you do to preserve the gut health of your children... and yourself? 🗣 Make it understood that you prefer to avoid antibiotics and why (preserve the microbiome + prevent future disease) 🗣 If antibiotics are suggested see if it is appropriate to try anything else before starting antibiotics 🗣 If you do start antibiotics, start probiotics and fermented foods. #gutlove protect your (and your kid’s)gut - @gut_love on Instagram

This year has been relentless. Stay home, stay safe turned into work all the time to try to figure out how to run a wedding business in a pandemic and multiple global crisis. And take care of my lovely clients the best way I can. And try to take care of myself and my mental and physical health. - September brings some peace. A change of pace. A reprioritization.
