Still-lifes #gouache 2018-2019 По приезде в китайскую школу, главной задачей было научиться писать гуашью. Ведь изначально меня и @vadimlipskih нанимали как педагогов, которые будут преподавать не только студентам, уезжающим в Украину, но и всем остальным по-возможности 🙈 （а если конкретно - давать мк по гуаши）. И вот как раз этого то мы и не умели🤕. И пришлось быстренько учиться. Благо было у кого🙂 Китайцы - лучшие гуашисты（если можно так назвать 🤔）. До приезда в Китай я и знать не знала, что ВОТ ТАК можно писать гуашью（имеется ввиду работы китайцев - не мои 😄). Мы попали на недельный тренинг для педагогов по написанию натюрмортов （несколько дней были абсолютно убойными - с 9 утра до 8 вечера 🙈🙊）. Далее - самостоятельные тренировки несколько месяцев. Что ж, так как у них, у нас все же не вышло. Вышло как-то по-своему 🤓 Хотя нам твердили: Нам надо вот так и никак иначе. В общем - отстали от нас с этой гуашью в конце концов, но опыт остался. Делюсь некоторыми 🤗 Все натюрморты выполнены с фото. Китайское обучение до академии построено именно на рисовании по фото. Pixelmator is the app I use because it is compatible with iOS, and very easy to use on the iPad. It’s an amazing app!✨🎨 I first go to Pinterest and save images that speak to me and decide what I want to be the main subject matter or focal point. Or sometimes I’ll use my own photography, depending on the painting. Then I add abstract layers, more images and manipulate the colors/blending of images. Creating sources before you paint, really helps you with your composition and overall helps you not get lost. Keep in mind though, your source is the inspiration (or base) and you don’t have to replicate it exactly on your actual painting☺️ As you can see from my painting above, the source is pretty different. (This is Fia, on the story of the day from Flying Edna. ‘grace-ish’.) . Oddly enough, it turns out I do not have night-vision... . I know this about myself. And yet, every morning, I try to find my way in the dark from the bedroom to the kitchen by outstretching my arms, fingers extended to sense hard edges, bumbling with an erratic breathing pattern from slight fear of walking in to something... . There are several light switches in-between the bedroom and the kitchen, but they are, for some reason, off limits in this game Ive created. . Even as I write this, Im not entirely sure what Im practicing in this awkward early-morning routine. Perhaps its heightening awareness. Practicing presence. Why I must do this in this particular way, before Ive had coffee, Im not quite sure. But, apparently, its a practice Im committed to. What I can say for certain is that there is little to no grace in this morning walk... . From some points of view, its an utter fail. Every. Single. Morning. . But I think of it this way: failure can offer useful information. Even though many of us have been conditioned to think failure is something to be avoided, that’s not really how we’re built to function as human beings. . Theres this amazing thing in our bodies called myelin. Its a living tissue... in a constant cycle of breakdown and repair... an insulation that wraps around nerve fibers every time you do something. The more myelin you have, the higher the skill level. . But heres the catch. In order to build this insulation, it requires you to practice at the edge of your capabilities. You cant just repeat something over and over, you need to discover that place, that edge right when you fail - and go back to it. Repeatedly. Until the next edge reveals itself. . Its an enticing challenge our bodies have given us... that the ability to do something is directly proportional to our will. Our authentic desire. Our willingness to fail. And to be curious about it. . All the bumps and bruises along the way are there to guide us. Not shame us. Humans of Peachland - Chapter 4 Karen Beaupre - Owner, Southern Ridge Trading Company Growing up, I was the girl in school who got in trouble for drawing all over her papers. At home, I was the girl who got in trouble for annihilating the phone book. I would open up the Yellow Pages, take a sharpie and just doodle. I always knew when my parents were trying to find a phone number, because I would hear a loud …KAREN being yelled from the other side of the house. Credit goes to my parents, though. They saw my creative side very early on, and realized they had to find an outlet for me, or else they would never be able to find the local plumbers number in the phone book. They put me in art classes. They put me in music lessons. Whatever they could find. Im so thankful that they were supportive of that side of me, because it allowed me to embrace my creativity all the way through school, and into my adult life. I moved out to Alberta after graduation. I was young, adventurous and just wanted to spread my wings a little bit. My sister lived in Alberta, and she found me a waitressing job. The plan was just to work out there for the summer, but I ended up falling in love. Then I got my ECE, had a baby and things just kind of snowballed from there. Among all that, Ive even found the time to run several businesses along the way. I even owned a western store in Princeton. I really liked western fashion, but I couldnt quite find the style that I was looking for, so I basically turned my own designs into wearable art. But I was farming out my designs to other companies. I was very particular on the colour, size and design of the garment, so when I would get it back, I was never happy with it. This store was born out of the same desire - to control my own destiny and do things my way. I absolutely need to be creative. I paint, but I have never shown or sold any of my paintings. Only recently have I decided that life is too short - its time to start showing my art to the world.
