The process of confronting what scientific models say about the terrifying ecological track we’re on, matched with completely inadequate action from the political establishment, birthed a painful dilemma. Back then, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, pop stars, royals and umpteen news sites had not yet legitimized this form of anxiety. National polls hadn’t yet been tallied showing it is a growing trend. And academics weren’t yet studying reproductive angst in the climate crisis as a social phenomenon. But there I was, suddenly overwhelmed.
