Even 5 minutes, 10 minutes...if you could find 20 minutes out of your day to do what makes you reduviate, your life will be in the perfect harmony! Find some time to do massage, breathing practice, detox, or meditate, etc...to explore and listen to your own body. The time that you give yourself is self care, and gift to others, too❤️ . Today’s Asana: Sit in a comfortable position with a nice long spine. Take your right hand to the top of your head by the left ear, and gently lower the right ear to the right shoulder. Relax shoulder away from the ear. Breathe deeply. . Left hand can be tucked under you, extended to the side, or used to massage the left side of the neck. If you find the tight spot when you are massaging, press and hold the spot for a little bit. Then your new blood flush through that. Welcome Day6 :) The pose is cobra pose or locust. Here I’m sharing 2 videos. The first one is how I training my back strength with wide arm variation and full pose. Ending is tradition to dhanurasana. I’m sharing short backbend strenth practice but this kind of practice important in every backbend pose. It’s not only flexibility, we also need strong back muscles. Second is fun variation of movement using yoga wheel. I think this is quietly fun 😅but you also need strength to grounding well. Without it the wheel maybe going somewhere 😶 And when you using it find right place the right place you feel no pain. As you see in bhujangasana I really want to asking you try to using upper body and make your leg super super strong. Swipe and see the last photo of cobrapose. Day1 pigeon pose As you know our challenge is not only just posing. It’s much more focusing on body motion. All we have a different bodies. Knowing our body well and working it in good way, will improve our body movement more safe and deep way. I practicing yoga over a 13yrs. Long time practice is changed my body. I gain more strength and more flexibility. However personally my body is more flexible side than strength. So when I didn’t know right alignment way of using body, I was injured my hamstring. After this experience, I study more about alignment and realized how strength, active flexibility is important. Here I’m sharing active pigeon poses and passive pigeon poses. Even you have a big motion of flexibility try to practice active way too. This helped to keep pose safe, stable and eventually good grounded makes to go more deeper practice; this dosen’t mean that your burn need to touch your hip 😅 using your own body you can make your own deeper way of pose. My persistence and positivity has given me the strength to help my body heal. I’ve been experimenting with a vegan diet over the last month. You may know I’ve had lots of my large bowel and small bowel removed through stage 4 cancer. (The part of the large bowel removed meant that I have had to retrain my body to stop myself rushing off to the loo every 5 minutes, so a high fibre high diet would have prevented me from leaving the toilet door let alone my house). I had to have 70% of my liver resected and gall bladder removed. I suffered immensely for years not being able to eat one thing and another. I discovered I had bile salts malabsorption which means I must stick to a strict low fat diet and a vegan diet contains lots of high fat! Good fats or bad fats, there’s no exceptions when it comes to bile salts malabsorption. . I am quietly excited to say my body has been finely tuned to manage a vegan diet that is currently suiting me and I’m loving it. (It’s been a rollercoaster I won’t lie!) I’ve had to deny my body of most fruits and vegetables for years, simply because my body couldn’t take it. When it comes to following diets, I strongly believe you have to do what’s right for you at the present time in your life. Hanging is on my list of daily must do’s the last few months. It’s here to stay. Twice a day if possible. When I first started, my grip strength was much worse. I’m up to about a minute most days. The movement and space I get in my spine and ribs is phenomenal! It took a couple months for my spine to move at all as I slowly decompressed. I have an inversion table but feel much more benefit from hanging from my hands. Adding deep breaths really expand the core canister and stretch the rib cage and diaphragm. Are you worried about your “flat feet” or “fallen arches”? 👨‍🎓Did you know: - Flat foot is normal in infants/toddlers because the arch hasn’t developed yet - Most people’s arches develop during childhood as tendons/muscles/ligaments tighten, but in many they do not develop effectively - Foot arches can also collapse over time from weak or stretched soft tissues - Flat foot is a normal variation in foot position, and in itself may not cause any problems However, in some cases flat feet can be a root cause of pain in the foot, ankle or even further up towards the knee and hip. Having flat feet can change the alignment and biomechanics of the entire leg. So with high or sustained loads coming from body weight activity such as prolonged standing/walking, running or jumping this can lead to abnormal stresses on different tissues in body which can in turn lead to pain. So how do we fix flat feet? 🤷‍♂️ It is actually very difficult to significantly improve the position of flat feet, however strengthening the important muscles that support the foot arches can be extremely effective in relieving symptoms or preventing injury. Here are some examples of exercises to work on improving the strength of the arches of your feet. ❗️Tip: With the arch creation exercises, try to raise and maintain the inner arch of the foot by bringing the heel towards the big toe, whilst making sure to also maintain 3 points of contact with the ground as shown. Fun fact: during my Yoga Teacher Training - Anatomy was never exciting for me. In fact I almost fell asleep multiple times trying to put anatomical information into my brain. But when we investigated energetic philosophy, the chakras and the subtle body, my eyes were wide open and I could stay up for hours devouring information about it. Energetics is the language my body remembers, it’s the juice that has personally guided my yoga practice and informed my understanding of life. I want to be clear - I don’t think physical anatomy is any better or worse than energetic anatomy - but my personal feelings of excitement were simply a sign from the Universe to follow that trail of curiosity. Of course understanding the physical structure of a human is important as a yoga teacher but my disinterest in it all was simply a signal that the world didn’t need me to be an anatomy whizz - it allocated that role to someone else! Why try and squidgy myself into the mask of anatomy lover when there are people who absolutely ADORE it - who could bury their heads in books about bones all day!? If you feel you “should” be doing something because your superior does it or your neighbour does it - challenge that belief and think about what your unique strength is that you could bring to the table? I believe it’s our greatest spiritual assignment to let go of “shoulds” and inherited insecurities and instead play to what is most natural and soul enriching ... because the world needs us to be alive in the truth we were born with, not a false truth we’ve adopted ✌🏽 - @hannahcrerar on Instagram

I discovered Yin Yoga about 6 years ago. The approach to practicing Asana was so radically different compared to the traditional Hatha Yoga I’ve been used to. I fell in love with the softness and the quietness of a Yin class - those long gentle holds are not an easy task for an impatient human like me 🙂 but they help to let go of tension in my body and mind and my patience is developing too, little by little. Eka Pada Bakāsana Galavāsana Ashtanga Advanced A 🕊 . Because of a shoulder tweak, that is getting much better, I have to really fight for the left side. And this is a question I am often asked: “for balance, should I do less on my strong/able side when the other side is injured/weak/much tighter?” . The recommendation I have always followed is to let the side that is lagging behind catch up to the stronger side. Allow the stronger side to set the precedent. This has been a significant guideline to follow as even though I am left-handed, I had a serious injury on the same arm with added nerve damage. Yoga practice was integral to my healing and to see where there was lack of symmetry and strength in various movements and postures. Even though there will always be slight imbalances between sides, what is invariably weaker can transform to a stronger capacity with time and attention. Ultimately the imperfection gives rise to the perfect lesson. 🤍 . . . The more I think about the words we use, the more it becomes apparent that the way we use them ends up rewiring our thought process in an imperceptible and yet insidious manner — to the point that we don’t identify the issue until it’s too late, once it’s been internalized. And it’s up to us to uproot it, then. . I’ve been thinking about the concept of “acceptance” — so ubiquitous in a yoga practice. “Santosha”, the true epitome of equanimity — or is it? . When do you use the word “acceptance”? . Acceptance and resignation are very different things. The former is positive, embracing, taking what comes our way as it is and rejoicing in the process, without asking for more or a feeling of lacking. Resignation, however, has a bitter connotation. It’s negative, as it expresses an act of giving up, of settling — taking what comes and yet resenting it at the same time. . But how do we use “acceptance” in mainstream modern yoga, these days? . I find that we use it with the same duality as resignation, directed towards that which we do not like only: accept that situation that you can’t change, accept this sensation that you don’t like, that person that annoys you, the boss that keeps making demands, the fact that life doesn’t go as you wanted it to go. It’s always juxtaposed to the (perceived) “bad” side of duality. . “Accept” the beautiful sunshine raining on you this morning, the smiles of your kids, the exhilarating feeling of this pose... — said nobody ever. . We only “have to” (duty) “accept” (resign ourselves to) the ugliness. . What have we done to this word? To this beautiful concept of acceptance? Is it truly “equanimity” if it doesn’t apply equally to the good and the bad? If our language doesn’t connect it to both, are we truly there? In the same way, we need the two wings of practice and detachment to soar up to the zenith of Yoga, for yoga is the means and the the goal both Abhyas means practice, or a concerted and persistent effort to change an old habit or develop a new one. In all fields of human endeavor, practice is the key that opens the door to mastery and excellence. Vairāgya means detachment. We observe that the mind runs toward the objects of its attachment, toward the direction it has been habituated to running in the past. The elimination of attachment eradicates the unnecessary wanderings of the mind. अभ्यसवैराग्यभ्याम तन्निरोध: PYS 1.12 ~ Practice and Detachment are the means to still the movement of citta. 🤍Take the mind away from the outside world—this is vairāgya—and bring the mind to rest on the inside —this is abhyās🤍 अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते B.G 6.35 ~the mind is indeed very difficult to restrain. Today I had acupuncture and it really helped but my shoulders fought the needles hard. I’m grateful for the body workers I’m trusting my muscles and trauma to, because by myself it feels like I’m battling against my body parts that have a mind of their own. My right leg has bruises where I’ve tried to work the knots out a little too aggressively and I really need to chill. Welcome day 3 #aloboutrangeofmotion :) the pose is #wideleggedforwardfold ( #uphavisthakpmasana) Here I’m sharing 2 videos and 1 photo.( video is speed up xxxxx) The first one is few poses of how I stretch my hip area and how I doing middle split using wall. In here I looks like a just stretching but actually my legs are working a lot. Specially while on middle split practice I engage my leg muscles. How I engaged muscles? Make a yogi toe.😅 It May be sounds funny, but yogi toe is helpful to engage leg muscles. I think it is also possible when you pointing your toe but in my case this is working well. The second video is more about working on active way for leg strength and step of our today’s pose. For more modification, you can bent your knee or using blanket under the hips and making height. Why we asking using props in here is to avoid rounding spine. Do forwardbend with kind nice spine. Use many props if you need and find a good place you feel your entire body is open. Also for modification, do pose using wall like me( first video): recline pose is always keep our spine nice. 📚 YOGA SCHOOL: Yin & Yang practices. . SAME BUT DIFFERENT! Yin yoga rename some of the Asana postures with the sole intention to prevent the student to go with the same mentally and intensity as if they were practicing yang. . ☯️ For instance, here we have Dragon pose for yin yoga, which requires long holds so it can access the deep hip flexor, groin and quadriceps. We dont have to pay attention to alignment (knee pass the ankle) in Yin yoga, because the ultimate goal is to play with different patterns of movement to find a subtle sensation, rather than deep intensity. That way we can learn to find the proper depth and remain still as we hold the pose to affect the tissues and the fascia. This pose primarily targets the liver, gall bladder, spleen, stomach, kidney and urinary bladder meridians. Yin practices focus primarily in introspection. . 🤸On the other hand we have Anjaneyasana pose for yang yoga, which requires the engagement and activation of our pelvic floor muscles, abdominals and legs. Physically strengthens the quadriceps and gluteus muscles, stretches the psoas and hips, and expands your chest, and lungs. Internally, it stimulates the internal organs at the abdomen. Yang practices primarily focus more on the external aspect of our being. . Give it a try and enjoy both and explore your mind, your body and let the intuition guide you. Today’s little compilation is all about hamstring stretches and anterior pelvic tilt. Sometimes you need to bend the knees to get that tilt or at least get the feel of it. Folds cannot happen until anterior pelvic tilt is mastered. It is easier to get it in the straddle forward fold. So practice, practice, practice.
