Seen here is a great cautionary tale reposted from @uniform_humor of a handgun that discharged in a leather holster located just above a left buttock. The leather from the holster had apparently deformed with age and has caught the trigger when the gun was being holstered. The wound is a great example of a close-range low velocity gunshot wound, with a decent permanent cavity from the projectile passing through, but little evident bruising radiating out from the wound, owing to a low velocity projectile causing relatively little temporary cavitation. I am still obsessed with the art of corsetry....it started right after watching the brilliant epic Elizabeth, directted by Sekhar Kapoor back in 1998 when I was studying at the London College of Fashion. As luck would have it, my pattern cutting tutor at the college was the assistant costume director of the film Elizabeth. Her name was also Elizabeth....Elizabeth Jenyon. It was an amazing experience learning under her. Apart from following our curriculum, I used to pester Elizabeth to teach me how to make patterns for periodical costumes....and finally when she did, I used to feel like a kid in a candy store. Just didnt know which one to learn and which to leave. So all the kinds of structured clothes that I love to make is all due to Elizabeths teaching with a lot of patience. Thanks Lizy, I really owe you a big one. One of the things which really amazed me about corsets is the fact that in early days(Victorian and Elizabethan) a corset was a piece of garment which was worn inside to give the body a desired look. But over time the corset has become an outerwear and not only that it has become a fashion statement. After I started my label almost 20 years back, I was the only couturier of the city to craft corset the orginal way. By that I meant using real boning, to keep the garment abs fitted in its place. Creating channels, inserting boning in them, lining the garment with raw silks, putting in the eyelets and finishing the corset with silk lacings, We started it in Calcutta and we are still doing it in that way....ignoring the fact that we take about 4 days to make one corset.....and I love creating it that way. The images which you see have all been created by me over the years. The last one shows the various ways one can wear corsets.....with saris, with trousers and with skirts.
