Dolor percibido en la zona lumbar y glútea, y cuando se origina en el sistema musculo esquelético, las causas más frecuentes pueden ser: - Afectación de un disco intervertebral lumbar (protrusión, hernia discal o incluso una fisura del disco) dando una lumbalgia aguda o crónica discal, casos agudos suelen dejar a la persona incapacitada teniendo que estar acostada, lo cual descomprime el disco afectado y permite una mejoría. - Muscular, generalmente por puntos gatillo en los músculos de la zona, frecuentemente en los glúteos, en el cuadrado lumbar y para vertebrales esta lumbalgía es más leve. - Disfuncion somática (bloqueo vertebral) o DDIM (disfunción dolorosa intervertebral menor) esta responde muy bien al tratamiento de osteopatía, y puede darse tanto en personas sanas como en aquellas con alteraciones de disco en la resonancia (dolor con caracteristicas diferentes) - También puede ser originado en la articulación sacroiliaca (articulación del sacro con el iliaco), entonces es percibido un poco más bajo, en la zona glútea, sobre todo a nivel del hoyuelo de la pelvis, se debe generalmente a un bloqueo de esta articulación y responde muy bien al tratamiento osteopático. - También puede ser un reflejo de una alteración osteopática (bloqueo), localizada a nivel dorsal inferior o medio, a esto se le llama lumbalgia de cresta, ya que el dolor se suele localizar a nivel de la cresta iliaca. El tratamiento osteopático hay que realizarlo a nivel dorsal (origen del problema) -Organos de la pelvis menor, también pueden dar dolores referidos hacia la zona lumbar y glútea, por dermalgia refleja, cadenas musculares, sensibilización central. Lift your knees off the mat and hold them up for a few seconds. Try to keep your back as straight as possible. 2️⃣ Come into the dog looking down, lift one leg up, bend it and pull the knee forward in the middle. Push your shoulders forward over your wrists. Pull it up to your rib cage as far as possible. Hold here for a few seconds as well. 3️⃣ side plank. If you like it a little more challenging, bend your upper leg, bring your toes to the knee of the lower leg (dont lean on them, just touch them) and let your knees point upwards or lift your leg unplugged. 4️⃣ Boat pose. Para las obsesivas del ejercicio como yo, y las no tan obsesivas, hablemos de la importancia del día de descanso en la semana. ¿Qué aporta el descanso al cuerpo después de un período de entrenamiento? Hoy es domingo y normalmente hoy corro y luego hago yoga, pero ayer me sentía super cansada, y si conoces tu cuerpo sabes diferenciar entre el cansancio de flojera tras una larga semana y el cansancio real creado por exceso de actividad física y mental. Me di cuenta que tenia 3 semanas sin tomarme un día de descanso y mis cuerpo me estaba avisando que pare. Así que hoy decidí no salir a correr, no poner el despertador, dormir hasta que me levantara sola, y darle un día de recuperación y descanso a mi cuerpo y a mi mente. Por qué digo a mi mente? porque la mente trabaja durante todas esas sesiones de yoga, correr, entrenamiento, tiene que coordinar movimientos, concentrarse, etc. Me costó muchísimo, estuve tentada a irme a la yoga a las 11am, pero decidí disfrutar de mi domingo en casa tranquila con mi familia sin horarios y correderas (asi soy normalmente). Es importante saber que para marcar músculo, ganar fuerza muscular, aumentar la resistencia aeróbica, aumentar la flexibilidad o sea cual nuestro objetivo, no lo podremos hacer de un día para otro, lograr todas estas cosas toma su tiempo y es importante hacerlo bien, con la frecuencia necesaria y con los descansos adecuados. Cuando sometemos a nuestros músculos al estrés del ejercicio los estamos activando para que trabajen y para que se preparen para ganar tono muscular, pero no empiezan a ganar este tono (a crecer) hasta que están en fase de descanso. El descanso nos permite recuperarnos después del ejercicio, durante cualquier actividad física moderada quemamos energía, sudamos y gastamos combustible del cuerpo que solo se puede recuperar con un buen descanso. Y tu cuantos dias a la semana descansas?. Yo uno y aveces ninguno 😜, pero es necesario. Escuchar a tu cuerpo es una forma de quererlo y cuidarlo!. The term VO2max has been thrown around for years in the endurance world as a marker for endurance capacity. However, its been getting WAY too much credit for its correlation to performance - what about lactate threshold??. Lets dive deeper into this on today #trainingtuesday! First lets start with some definitions: VO2 Max is the maximum rate of oxygen consumed per minute. This is used by working muscles to produce energy - think of it as your aerobic engine. Lactate Threshold is the intensity of exercise at which lactate begins to accumulate in the blood at a faster rate than it can be removed. This determines max exercise performance because we can only sustain so much lactate in our blood before we become fatigued and have to slow down. The higher the lactate threshold, the faster you can run before lactate starts to accumulate. ALL elite endurance athletes have high VO2 maxs - in most cases, what actually differentiates athletes are their lactate thresholds. The higher the threshold, the longer you can run FAST! Have you every realized that you sometimes move differently when you move from the front or move from the back of the mat? From forward fold to down dog I like to step back. But from Down dog to forward fold I like to walk. So I decided to create a class where we reverse some of these moves. Reverse the vinyasas. Reverse the stepping forward. Where do you go when you’re not in the present moment? To the past or to the future? In Chinese Medicine, there are two special channels that deal with, among other things, our relationships to the past and to the future: the Yin Wei Mai and the Yang Wei Mai. It’s believed that being hung up on the past or in constant fear of the future drains your energy, that only when you’re truly present does your body not have to overdraw on its resources and reserves to operate optimally. #flashbackfriday These are some of the last yoga pics I took of myself in yoga poses. I’ve never liked taking yoga pics. ___ This was the end of 2013! I had just closed my yoga studio in Union Square - born Bija Yoga + closed Maha Padma Yoga Temple. ___ I was recommitted to working out with my trainer @juliusmaximus24 (who took these snaps) and I was recommitted to getting my practice back in shape. ___ Owning a studio is gut wrenching, it’s draining, and there’s far too little juice for the squeeze. I lost my self during that time. When the studio closed I felt free, unburdened, and able to be myself again. Letting go of that yoga studio was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It made space for my yoga career to really take off. ___ Now with the pandemic I’ve had to say goodbye to another yoga home, but it’s made space for my teaching career to flourish yet again. Now I teach (and train) virtually and it’s been wonderful. I feel more connected to my students and more connected to my practice than I have in a long time. ___ It’s funny how when structures fall away, yoga always catches me. I’m not one for throwback posts or tripping down memory lane, so thanks for reading. Challenge complete! I completed 20 out of 30 days of working out in September with @bodybysimone! It was a great challenge and I loved that I could get them done in just 30 minutes. I even squeezed in a few extra! Results: 2.5 pounds lost 1.5 inches lost on my waist I love challenging myself and this was perfect combination of exercise and eating right within moderation!
