Настоящим! Днем и ночью его не покидали мысли о беговых дорожках и прыжковых секторах, стартах и финишах, очках и секундах. …Так уже случилось, что в нашей семейной компании все жены были педагогами, а у мужей профессии были самые разные – математик, профсоюзный деятель, врач, журналист, тренер. Любили мы, собираясь вместе, помечтать. Вспоминаю, как однажды мы затеяли шутейный разговор: «Что бы ты сделал, если у тебя был миллион?». Кто-то хотел потратить все деньги на путешествия, кто-то хотел построить дом-дворец с бассейном. Эрик же сказал, что он бы на эти деньги построил стадион. Самый лучший! Самый современный! И это не было кокетством. Такая мечта действительно была у него, и он долго стремился к ее осуществлению. Старожилы Южно-Сахалинска наверняка помнят, что в некогда в городе были только два стадиона – ДОСА и в Парке Культуры и отдыха. Там и проводились все легкоатлетические состязания. Эрик Михайлович всегда переживал: «Какие рекорды можно установить на этих дорожках?». Я же в те годы заведовал отделом информации в газете «Советский Сахалин». В мою «епархию» входил и спорт. И постепенно я буквально заразился от Эрика его самой страстной и самой желанной мечтой. При каждой встрече на соревнованиях с первым секретарем Сахалинского обкома партии Павлом Артемьевичем Леоновым и председателем областного Совета профсоюзов Виктором Николаевичем Бородиным, которые непременно присутствовали на них, я старался свести их с Эриком, чтобы они из первых уст услышали просьбу о строительстве стадиона. Today is our parents 60th wedding anniversary. How they made it 60 years after raising 9 of us, is beyond me. Last year my nieces (@kikicarr & @hannahgruse) began archiving our family photos and I always find myself going back and looking at their wedding day. There are so many photos, but these are my favorites: the band, the just married sign, the dancing, the love. It’s like an older version of the wedding scene in “The Deer Hunter” They’d be mortified if they knew these photos were “on the computer” but my brother and I looked it up and less than 5% of marriages make it 60 years.
