2 BRAVE BOYS ~ So many of you got in touch last week to help us name these 2 brave boys! Only months old, they’ve already faced their fair share of setbacks having suffered painful, potentially life-changing injuries. But against the odds, thanks to @desperategreekies and their round-the-clock care, both boys are on the mend! That’s why we were looking for names that really conveyed these pups’ miraculous recoveries and boundless bravery, even when so tiny and vulnerable. So, without further ado, we’re delighted to introduce Marvel and Wonder 💫 _ Marvel was found by some passers by who rushed him to a local vet. Sadly, this vet vastly underestimated the extent of Marvel’s injuries, failing to complete a full assessment and leaving this poor pup without painkillers. It was our incredible partners at @desperategreekies who investigated further, taking Marvel to their own vets and discovering that this little pup had likely been hit by a car, and was suffering from a shattered pelvis, leaving him unable to stand or walk. Marvel was urgently operated on and is thankfully on the road to recovery; aside from some follow-up x-rays to come, Marvel’s future is looking much brighter. _ Wonder was also found in a sorry state with 2 broken back legs. This brave pup was quickly fitted with a double-cast, which he braved like a trooper for 6 long weeks. As a young pup, this is both a testament to the hard work of our partner shelters, and heartachingly sad: puppies this young should be exploring, learning about the world around them and finding their feet. As such, it’s unlikely that Wonder will be scaling Everest anytime soon but he has more than enough love to make up for it, and his unusual gait is simply adorable. _ It’s thanks to support systems like our Remarkable Rescue Fund that we’re able to step in and provide the life-changing care that dogs like Wonder and Marvel desperately need. Finally starting to feel a summer glow, and it’s making my soul so happy ❤️ Most of you know my story and struggle with my chronic illnesses, and that I’m always transparent and honest about what goes on in my life. I do this in hopes of normalizing, educating, and advocating for chronic illnesses and those who have them. So I can’t lie, this pandemic has been incredibly hard on me, and it’s seriously affected both my mental and physical health. I’m starting to finally feel more like myself again, and I’m looking forward to making some changes to make sure I live a healthier life where I can do the things I want without fear of my symptoms flaring. HUGE thank you to my dear friends, family, and loved ones for supporting me so much over the past several months; I don’t know what I would do without the unconditional love and support I’ve been given. Extra special thanks to my partner @jwendzina and my mom @mamajen99; you two are my rocks. Thank you for putting up with me even when I was sick and cranky, and for giving me the tough love that I desperately needed to hear. You two are truly the best, and I love you both endlessly. ❤️ I’m hopeful for my future, even though it may be very difficult over the next little while as I adjust to the changes. Literally every aspect of my life has been changed, I have zero control over anything that could happen, and my entire future is completely unknown, which is terrifying. I feel so scared and vulnerable, but I’m learning how to be gentle with myself throughout this worldwide crisis. I try to remind myself that it’s not just me whose life has been derailed, but EVERYONE’S. I hope all of you can do the same, because it’s so important to take care of your mind, body, and soul right now. Healthanything. Always put your health first. My entire life is out of control now thanks to COVID, so now I’m just embracing the chaos and ready for whatever might come next.
