My heart is so broken today trying to deal with the devastating passing of my sweet, fun, talented, friend Nolan Gibbons. Nolan was one of the most incredible people I have ever met. His talent in music, theater, arranging, beatboxing and so much more just blew me away. I would sit watching him beatbox live, in shock of how he was able to do that so easily! He was always a joy to be around, whether it was to sing, dance, laugh, learn, talk, I was always so grateful to be in his presence. It’s still so hard to process this news. Om at gå direkte fra gymnasiet til uni 👩🎓 Ja som man kan læse af overskriften, valgte jeg at gå direkte fra min gymnasielle uddannelse til uni - hvilket jeg både før og siden har fået undrende blikke over 😅 Men jeg vidste at alt jeg gerne ville var at starte på min drømmeuddannelse, og havde derfor ikke noget behov for et sabbatår 🤷♀️ hvis jeg skulle have haft et sabbatår ville det kun have været for at komme ud og se verden - hvilket jo så ikke ville have været så aktuelt i år 🌍 Men bare fordi man ikke tager et sabbatår, betyder det ikke at man ikke kan komme ud og rejse lidt alligevel 😉 mine veninder fra gym og jeg brugte nemlig hele 2.g på at planlægge en 3 ugers tur rundt i Europa, som vi tog på i sommerferien mellem 2. My Goodness! It’s incredible to think that a year ago today I set off to Australia! I signed up because my beautiful friend Kora asked me to come, because she wanted someone to share it with. It’s unbelievable, I liked Kora, she was a good friend, now she is like a sister to me, one of the closest friends I have. All of these wonderful people in the photos, (I’m missing a few, only allowed ten photos gosh diddly darn it) they helped me through so much and this experience was such a blessing. I didn’t plan on going to Australia. It wasn’t in my great grand life plan, but I can tell you without a doubt it was exactly what I needed in that period of my life. What a long ass day of travel ball with Jax - left at 7:00am/back home at 7:45pm. Lot of action in 100 degree heat: team finished runner up, Jax had a HR & almost another off the top of the fence. Add in 2 walks & 3K’s, pitching in 2 games with good - not great - results. Our 12u boys have learned to play with grit & are learning to trust each other. Our #PartnerSpotlight of the week is someone whose hard work has recently been recognized through his nomination for #PartneroftheQuarter! Max is one of our night crew shift supervisors, and his development from barista to shift has been astounding to watch. Though he has worked for the company for a little over two years (anniversary: July 17th), Max came to our store last summer, ready to take on the shared responsibility of making sure our location is always clean, safe, and ready to serve. He quickly became an MVP, and his dedication to our team is much appreciated and celebrated. Max’s go-to drink is a #StarbucksDoubleshotonIce, sub hazelnut and sweet cream, but this fall, he’s most excited for the return of the #PumpkinCreamColdBrew, which he’ll likely be pairing with his favorite pastry, a double-toasted ham and cheese croissant. The best things about working at Starbucks, according to Max, are having fun while working with his team and getting to interact with the evening regulars—those whose orders we know before they can even spit out what size they want. Max says that regulars are a special source of connection—checking in with them is fulfilling, like catching up with an old friend. Max is a Gemini, but we don’t hold that against him. In his free time, he whitewater kayaks, writes, and attempts to have a green thumb. His most recent kayaking adventure was on the Nantahala, and he has a tomato plant that looks like a small tree. Lately, he has also participated in numerous protests, and when asked if there was anything he wanted to tell our Instagram followers, he said, “Black Lives STILL Matter.” We’re grateful for his fiery passion and his ability to make work both fun and efficient.
