Psst. Hey. Over here. Shhh. We have something to tell you. TOMORROW OUR BALLARD LOCATION IS OPENING FOR BEER TO GO SALES. It’s been a long, wild, long, exciting, stressful, long ride. So here’s the deal: We plan to sell beer to go out of the garage everyday from 11am - 8pm. And if everything else goes our way, we’ll aim to open the beer garden in a week or two. Stay tuned for that stuff. In the meantime, we need to give some shout outs, as this 19+ month project is nearing an end. There’s an old saying “It takes a village...” and in our case, this is abundantly true. As you know, we make beer. That’s pretty much the only thing we legit know how to do. Everything else after that is not our expertise. So this is a personal favorite, the Fish n Chips of Keepsakes 🌯 tho it may not be your typical fish n chips with fried fish with the side of fries. The fish and chips in keepsakes comes in a wrap, this wrap is filled with carrots, cucumber, fried fish, cheese and lettuce. #InternshipSpotlight “I’m Ahiliya Nat, and I’m going into my last semester at Tech! I’m a double major in Public Policy and Business Administration concentrating in Finance. This summer, I had the opportunity to work at Accenture for the second time! Last summer, I spent my time in the Atlanta office as a Client Financial Management analyst, and this time I came back to Accenture Finance but as a Corporate Development and Transaction Services Analyst. The premise of the role is to shape and price deals for Accenture with potential clients and also includes a ventures and acquisition team to increase Accenture’s growth and value. It’s really exciting for me because no day is the same; we’re always working on different cases and deals and versions of those. I’ve seen deals that we’ve priced range from $10 million to almost $1 billion. Having a role in that is a pretty big rush. Although I’m so lucky to have my internship continue, COVID has affected my summer! I was supposed to work in the Chicago office but had to go remote due to everyone working from home. It was a little bit of a difficult adjustment working on pricing models and understanding how certain financials work just through screen-sharing of PowerPoint and Excel, but I think the people at Accenture worked above and beyond to make sure this adjustment wouldn’t affect what we learned this summer. Analysts, specialists, managers, senior managers, and even the head of our department for North America took time out of their day every single day for 2 weeks to talk to us and walk us through the role and responsibilities. I just put some banana bread in the oven and I’ve got time to kill, so I am here to offer up a bunch of information that nobody asked for (which is very ME). Philadelphia will be opening up for indoor dining on September 8th, but we will not be participating. The main reason being that none of us feel safe or comfortable with the idea of having unmasked diners in the restaurant. Kate and I made the decision months ago with our staff that until there are virtually no cases, or a vaccine that is widely available, we will not be allowing customers inside. That should be reason enough, but if not- restaurants are only allowed 25 percent occupancy, 4 diners to a table, and 6 feet of space in between each table. For us, that means we could only seat 2 tables at a time. IF we were business minded people who cared only about money, it still wouldn’t make sense for us to open for dine in. We are able to feed more people continuing on the path we have been on of take out only. We want nothing more than to be able to have you all sitting at the counter and at our tables, hanging out, eating and having a great time. Now is just not the time for it. We are so lucky to have the support that we have in this community, and to have regulars that we really can’t wait to see each week. So, for now and the foreseeable future, our hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM for Call ahead pickup only. 💖💕 - @thetastyphilly on Instagram

Just finished up this new piece for a very ambitious, awesome duo of humans about to open UP their doors to the world to enjoy their contagious energy, great coffee and fantastic vibes during a pandemic. Opening a new business is a risk in itself, add on a pandemic, and all uncertainty, but in my mind & heart, their spirit tells me they will succeed. They believe in each other and I strongly believe in them, which is all we need in life. The faith in each other and strength to help each other succeed. Kara & Dawn are opening a coffee shop, it’s called Lekker Coffee ( @lekkercoffee_rino ), at 3460 Larimer St! They’ll be donating 10% of profits back to the largest rhino orphanage in the world located in South Africa (@careforwild)- Kara volunteered there a few years ago and is excited to spread the word on what is happening with the rhinos and help support the endangered rhino population. Things have sure gotten weird quickly, First time working not at home in weeks on a job. Wore gloves, mask, hand sanitizer and painted the outside of the glass (usually do it in reverse on the inside) for extra safety measures! Twisted Italian Cafe located inside the Parkville Market has all your Italian desires, with an eclectic flare. Order the meatball with home made ricotta, the brussel sprouts topped with garlic aioli and pickled red onions just for starters. Then dive into their eggplant grinder, egg battered and lightly fried, topped with marinara, provolone and roasted peppers. Next, the Italian Grinder which was fully loaded with hot capicola, mortadella, genoa salami, ham, provolone, lettuce and tomato. My favorite assortment of the finest cured Italian meats, kicked up a notch with the Spicy Banana Pepper aioli. Entrees are up! Crazy Rigatoni Bolognese (ground chuck, Italian sausage and pancetta), topped with home made pesto ricotta. Our second choice was Rapini and the Pig, which is loaded with the holy trinity of EVOO, garlic, and pecorino romano. Throw in some cavatelli, fresh broccoli rabe, and sausage and call it a day! Lastly, you just cant leave without having the canolis. The shells and filling, made right in house and book ended with either chocolate chips or pistachios, will leave you feeling completely full and satisfied. Ive been working here since July 2019 after working at Indie Brewing in Boyle Heights for about 2 years as an Assistant Brewer. When it comes to getting your foot in the door, the most important thing I can tell you is you have to believe in yourself before other people do. Confidence should be beaming out of you like a super power and thats when people start to notice you. I would also like to add, developing a strong work ethic is super important. Skills can be taught, but a good attitude about the workload ahead isnt something that can be learned. Eyes on the prize. Soy Mexicana. What I love most about my culture has to be our family values. I started playing live music here almost 7 years ago. For some reason they enjoyed the tunes (when I wasn’t hammered on Funkmaster Brett) and had me play on Sundays. They finally got sick of my music but wanted to keep my sweet ass in the house 🤪The evolution of this brewery has been so incredible to witness. Hi guys! 👋🏼 You all have been SO supportive of my new business venture 🙏🏼 and so I wanted to share a little bit more about WHY I do what I do. ✍🏼 • • • As a high school swimmer who was injured, I was told by a professional, “you’ll be fine if you just stop swimming.” Let 👏🏼 me 👏🏼 repeat 👏🏼 : I would be FINE, all I had to do was stop doing what I loved. AND I DID, because I didn’t know any better 💔. Stopped swimming, coaching, teaching swim lessons. Because my arm was numb after every practice, because I would have to stop and empty my goggles of tears during long freestyle sets. 🏊🏼♀️ Oh and, also, I shouldn’t do push-ups. Also, no overhead lifts. (Also, no one to tell me when, if ever, it would be “safe” to do those things again.) • • • What I NEEDED to be told was, “We will find a way to make you strong enough to continue doing what you love, without pain, or future repercussions.” Period, full stop. 👊🏼 • • • After over 15 years working in the sports performance and rehab setting, I am here to tell YOU that truth.
