Did you know ferrets have moves? Black Footed Ferrets, especially as kits, will hop back and forth in what is called a “ferret dance.” Last fall, Black Footed Ferret kits were released in the park to help boost the population genetics of this endangered and elusive mammal. Recent surveys revealed survival through the last year. During spotlight surveys, staff placed readers over prairie dog holes that will scan for a chip in order to identify animals and determine if they have been vaccinated against Sylvatic Plague.
