So here is my progress with Jazz over the past few days. We are mainly working on jump commands. But we did some weaves today. Im not sure if that is the best way to teach her. Any thought would be greatly appreciated as well as tips! 😁 So I went to my first training session with Wispa the other day. It didnt go to plan and my trainer thinks Wispa isnt going to get far at all and she thinks I should train up another dog. As Im not allowed a puppy I have the second best thing! A four year old mental yellow lab. Who is Wispas sister! Im hopefully going to train up Jazz as well but I want to stick with Wispa. Twice the digs better the luck. Well as the dust has settled and sore heads are gone, we are going to recap a super trip to @dingledistillery! Many speed bumps along the way (not including the ones on the road from Tralee to Dingle) over 50 members embarked on our first over night trip. With plans on the first night to have a tasting in @dickmackspub scraped (well be back, dont worry @finnmacdonnell) we left our members to explore the town of Dingle. Many enjoying the sights of Slea Head or getting out to see Fungi and of course crossing paths in the many of the bars & restaurants of Dingle! @geaneysbar @johnbennysdingle and many other establishments proving very popular. We also had some members have tours late Friday evening with @beardydave81. Saturday was the main event, with most members going for a behind the scenes tour of this great artisan distillery, while sipping on a @dinglegin and tonic, it was onto the warehouse for the whiskey tasting. Provided with some @porterhousebrewco beers while waiting for the tasting with the new master distiller @grahamcoull. Graham took us through some really interesting expressions from the new make pot still and malt, to the 6 weeks aged malt and the px pot still. This really was an exclusive tasting with many different favourites from members. Truely outstanding story with many different whiskeys on the way 👏👏 Graham didnt stop there, he then became master chef serving up a bbq to all of our members with Dave mixing some cocktails too.🍔🌭🍹🍸 To Graham, Dave and all the team thank you for looking after us so well from start to finish. I think we can all agree someone is looking down very proudly on how the brand is being represented at the moment and the direction it is going. Really well done guys! Nigel Haworths Lockdown Cheese Tour of the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. Here seen on the first leg of my Cheese Tour with Chris Sandham of JJ Sandham Ltd at Barton. My tour began in the height of Lockdown, a tour where I visited seven of the Lancashire Cheese Makers. I decided to cycle around the beautiful Ribble Valley whilst in the height of Lockdown, firstly to find out how the cheesemakers were coping during the Pandemic and to also ask them to choose one of their cheeses for me to prepare a dish in the Shed shed sessions. Current Covid-19 guidance means that we need to make some changes to the way the Gallery works over the coming months. We will continue to support artists by displaying work in the Galleries at Stour Space and the Baths. The shows will be able to be seen without a ticket from 8am until 10pm, though we will be restricting the number of people in the galleries during busy times. However we won’t be holding an opening night for the shows, and we will run a limited number of workshops that are often part of the month-long exhibitions. We will continue to promote artists online through our social media and the new YouTube channel Stour Sessions. We hope you understand that this decision was made in order to best protect the artists, the visitors and our staff. FIELD REPORT: Epic work by @rpalmer415 and the Greno Trail Clean Crew 💥 . It was always planned to be a low key thing with a few mates, just to avoid complications with social distancing. . I should also thank Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust for giving permission and for the loan of the litter pickers. . My ‘favourite’ item from yesterday was the kid’s umbrella. What sort of person just throws that into the undergrowth when it breaks? . Generally though we were pleasantly surprised on the amount of litter. Greno has 3 trails, Steel City DH being the most popular and that was where 90% of the trash was found. The other two runs, Pub Run and DH3 were pretty clear. There are less places to stop and session on those trails so I think that’s the reason. . We got a bag full in the car park too, where there are litter bins! Anyway, it was certainly well worth doing and we got plenty of thank you’s from the riders. . I’m over the moon with how this VW Caddy came out. It’s had a full wrap in matte black plus subtle graphite grey text overlaid. The image on the side also has a matte finish which helps it fit the theme of the van. The owner has finished it off with a nice set of rims. Flavours: The Mint Club have a set menu for Shisha flavours. The prices start at £15 and is no more than £20, not unless you start to add fruit head, ice pipes etc. It is worth noting as there was a confusion, that they only use Khalil Mamoon Shisha’s. For Shisha I had asked for a recommendation; they gave me Frozen Blueberry with Frozen Lychee with a touch of Irn Bru. I had originally asked to try out a new flavour and it smelt amazing, but when I smoked it, it wasn’t for me I asked for a new Shisha altogether. They do give disposable pipes and the Shisha was decent an lasted the time I was there. Price: The pricing of food is in par with places in the area, the most expensive item being the Large Pizza with Stuff crust which is £11.95p For food I ordered MC Legend Burger which is a 6oz beef patty, for Mocktail Passion Mist. The food was the right amount and was a decent meal. Overall: This was my second visit to The Mint Club, I saw a not so positive review about this place so I decided to turn up on boxing night. I asked a male friend to join me to have a low-key night out underdressed and no tagging etc, just as a regular customer to see if my experience is the same. As we entered we were greeted within two minutes, they were starting to get busy, they gave us a choice of seating as at that point there were some empty spaces, handed us the menu and said we will be back in 5 minutes so we can decide what to order. I decided to get indecisive, eventually I asked for a recommendation it was pineapple crush and something else, so nice. On that particular night they were fully staffed and considering it got really busy the service was good. I revisited yesterday and I went literally when they opened, so staff were busy preparing and cleaning getting ready for the night ahead. Myself and my colleague Mark had a lovely day out working with volunteers up in Littleborough. They worked on weeding the cobbles at lock 47. We also had a team clearing the off-towpath side just down from bridge 48. They did a fantastic job removing all the weeds from between the cobbles and helping to spruce up the planters ready for some new spring additions. We had another team based down at lock 48 who worked on shifting the remainder of the overgrown turf on the off-towpath side, which had been started by our Operatives team. This has not only helped to expose some hidden cobbles and canal history but also helped to generate a much wider walking space, for what is a very busy lock with towpath users. They were an enthusiastic team of volunteers who worked really hard to help us see visable results in this area. We really do appreciate the 3.5hours of hard graft that they dedicated today, even the sunshine came out to thank them 🌞 Also lots of positive feedback from towpath users and we gained new volunteer recruits. #Repost @dunna_chuck_bruck with @kimcy929_repost • • • • • • We had so much fun this weekend in Unst for Shetland Nature Festival and @unstfest 2019! 💚 Around thirty amazing volunteers joined us on our nature walk and beach clean at Woodwick on Saturday morning. The team cleared around twenty-five bags of bruck plus masses of fishing floats, larger bits of plastic, rope and huge pieces of net that needed sawing up in order to shift! This is a particularly attractive beach for bruck due to the tides and shape of the bay, but it is difficult to clean up as there is a 2km walk on rough and steep terrain to reach it, let alone bring it back for disposal. A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered, the committees at Unstfest and Shetland Nature Festival, the brilliant landowners who are removing the bruck from Woodwick by quad and trailer over the next couple of days, and @shetlandheritage for taking the bruck out of Unst for disposal with SIC. Devon countryside pub The Kingfisher near the seaside village of Lyme Regis and the stunning Jurassic coast! 💙 Did you know - It doesnt matter how far into the English countryside you loose yourself in to or how small the village is, you will always find a proper British pub! Quality locally brewed beers, homegrown food and a warm bed for the night, the pub is the centre of countryside community. A staple of a good summer (for the few days a year the sun does actually shine) is sitting outdoors on the grass in a beer garden, the pubs garden, and enjoying a ploughmans picnic (A ploughmans is a cold finger food meal based around bread, cheese, and onions with ham and pickles, super tasty!). Today, in this nondescript building in a culturally diverse neighborhood deep in west London, I passed the UK citizenship test. Taking this test was weirdly emotional for me...the 5 year journey through temporary visas, confusing and complicated paperwork, ridiculous amounts of money spent on visa applications, immigration lawyers etc. has finally come to an end at long last. The fact that I can now permanently remain in the country where my daughter was born is a relief, but it’s no secret that the system favors people like me, and it’s such a bittersweet feeling to celebrate this milestone in my personal journey knowing that there are families all over the world that, due to circumstances beyond their control, can’t be together. Against the backdrop of the events of the past week, I was able to examine my privilege and look at the system that has benefitted me. While studying the official UK History book for this test, I tried to put myself in the shoes of a non-white person studying this material which, for the most part, treads very lightly on Black history (other than a brief couple of paragraphs on slavery) and makes few mentions of Black historical figures or pop culture icons. It made me realize how crucial it is that we expand curriculums to reflect the diversity of this world and educate the next generation, because at the moment the only way for me to learn about people like Harold Moody, Roy Hackett, Owen Henry, Audley Evans, Prince Brown, Ignatius Sancho, Olaudah Equiano, or John Edmonstone was to proactively seek out this (currently) alternative UK history. I’m embarrassed to say I wasn’t familiar with any of these people because I wasn’t proactive enough to educate myself. If it weren’t for events this week, I very likely would have passively accepted the whitewashed version of history in the 180 page “official” history book and moved on, but spending some time to dig a little deeper has given me perspective and woven a much richer historical tapestry. I’m thankful that we’ve all been shaken up a bit, and vow to continue to educate myself so that I can be the empathetic, positive and hopeful person that that I have always believed myself to be. - @msaimeephillips on Instagram

@steepandfilter @jodenison LOCKDOWN PROJECT Dally and Michael originally set up Steep and Filter as a vegan café and a refill store for dried goods, selling pulses, nuts, seeds, grains, Eco toiletries and cleaning products. When Covid hit, they realized the grain store alone wouldn’t be enough to keep the shop open. Reacting to demand they started picking up surplus veg from the restaurant trade, sacks of flour and yeast, quickly turning Steep and Filter into a small green grocer. They also supply veg boxes ordered over the phone, customers don’t even need to get out of their car, they just drive by and pop the boot. Michael and Dally find that their customers often end up having long chats whilst shopping, there is a lovely peacefulness about Steep and Filter and Dally is a good listener.
