🌿🧺 Plastic Free Laundry 🧺🌿 • My next #simplysustainableswaps focus on #kitchenswaps is all about laundry! 👔👚🩳 • If you take a walk down the laundry isle in the supermarket it’s is FULL of plastic bottles, fragrances and capsules generating so much unnecessary plastic waste 😓 • I don’t have a stead fast way I wash my clothes. I switch between using soap nuts (link in my bio to my blog post alll about how I use these) and a cardboard packaged eco laundry powder. • I find that sometimes soapnuts just aren’t tough enough on some stains, but are great for general use! • For tough stains I love to use my clay stain remover bar that my mum bought me from France 🇫🇷 there are lots of options for these in the UK too. You just rub it onto the stain before popping in the wash! Also, the sun does an amazing job of removing stains from your clothes! • For scented fabric softener I make my own DIY version (again, link in bio for my recipe!) using white vinegar and essential oils. I’ve recently found out you can also swap it for a scoop of citric acid in the softener compartment too. Always good to have options! 💐 • Other ways I keep my whites bright (plastic free) is by popping a scoop of bicarb in with my laundry powder and / or a scoop of Oxygen Bleach powder (I get mine from @thehomelyhaven) into the drum! ✨ • I use a @guppybag to wash my synthetic clothing (polyester etc) in which filters out any micro plastics that are shed during the washing process! • I have never used a tumble dryer but hang dry my clothes instead so have never had to worry about dryer sheets or any of those things! A great alternative if you do tumble dry, there are wool dryer balls that help to reduce drying time! ☀️ • Phew!
