Today, we celebrate and honor the legacy of Utah’s pioneers, who journeyed across the country to settle into the Salt Lake Valley. On Pioneer Day, I think of my 2x-great grandfather Miles Romney, who was among that courageous group of pioneers. He would go on to design the famous spiral staircases in the St. George Tabernacle. Their legacy of faith, determination, and courage is an inspiration to us all. Wishing all Utahns a wonderful Pioneer Day! - @senatorromney on Instagram

Contrary to popular opinion I have always enjoyed the brutal nature of a US Open test as a player. It was the one week of the year that you knew that golf would definitely win and yes, on occasion, you would turn inward to question the fairness of what you had just witnessed... but golf, with all of its variables and reliance on what a ball that is no longer within our control will decide to do on landing on a rough, uneven surface, hundreds of yards away from us in pursuit of a 4 and a half inch hole in the ground only helps me make peace with the fact that golf, much like life wasn’t designed to be fair.. it is a game if chance and possibility which is all part of its majesty.. Work hard and do all you can to enhance your chances of success, but win the war in your mind with what you think you deserve versus what you actually get... it’s a battle that usually finds the most worthy @usopengolf champion each year and I think that it may do that again this time too and fitting that it will be in the shadow of a city built on grit and determination. The rollercoaster of emotions and battle against the other players, the course and most of all oneself, is why I fell in love with this Championship in my first outing in ‘05, why a cherish my fondest day of my career, in contention and alongside Tiger in round 3 at Oakmont in 07 and why as I head to @skysports to help tell the story today as a broadcaster, I still love this great championship and all that it stands for. Enjoy the coverage of round 3 folks, see you on @skysportsgolf at 2pm ❤️ . . . . . 📷 @gettysport #USOpen #usopengolf #golf #majorchampionship #skysports - @nickdougherty5 on Instagram

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the loss of my father, Richard Holtz, Sr., who passed away July 28th after a brief bout with pneumonia and complications from COVID-19. My dad shared the family business with so many people, including my sisters and me. He learned from his father, and believed the best way to teach others the business was through kindness and thoughtful training. He also believed in treating everyone he came into contact with as a member of our extended family. That ethos served him well as a businessman, and also showed his character and inspired others to behave the same. It is because of his leadership, with my mom Geny at his side, that H.J. Holtz & Son continues to serve the community as well as include members on our team who are excited to learn and advance in their own careers. He regarded the craft of painting and wallpapering as a profession, and worked to instill that philosophy in our company and beyond. Dad was a member of the Richmond Chapter of the PCA, Middle Atlantic Council, and the National PCA organization for more than 50 years. He held executive committee offices on both the chapter and council levels and was a friend and mentor to countless painting contractors, crew members, associates, and industry leaders. While it is hard to imagine this company without my parents, we are so thankful for their leadership, their instruction, and their wholehearted support. We will do all we can to live out their legacy and keep H.J. Holtz & Son true to the goals of honesty and quality workmanship while regarding everyone as family. Rick - @hjholtzandson on Instagram

Toby Buckland, garden expert and TV presenter, was the special guest at @the.garden.house in #Devon to plant a Pilgrim 400 apple tree - one of only 40 trees grown as part of the #Mayflower400 commemorations.⠀ ⠀ Best-known for his role in BBC Gardeners World, Toby was joined in Buckland Monachorum by Celia Steven, who had developed the plant together with John Stirland.⠀ ⠀ @bbcspotlight also came along to film and help mark the occasion, together with the venues trustees.⠀ ⠀ If you would like to see the historic new plant, visit The Garden House from Friday to Sunday, 11-3pm. SCHOOLCRAFT, MI- (my hometown) established in 1831 as the first settlement in Kalamazoo, before Michigan was a state. In 1835 a home was built in our village to protect, feed, house, hide, and help 1500 slaves get to freedom in Canada. Our Underground Railroad house still stands and our schools make a point to teach its history. YET!! In 2020-our village population is 94% white and is home to many that wouldn’t consider themselves an ally with the black community. Yesterday as we stood for black lives on our highway, I couldn’t help but cry as people yelled profanities, flipped us off, slowed down just to stick their 👎🏻 out the window, drove by multiple times with their flags, spewing exhaust in our faces, and even painted “stop BLM” on their cars for us to see. This village was always meant to be an ally for every race, every culture, every human. We will PROTECT our brothers and sisters of color and WELCOME them to our home with open arms. Stand up in your communities and DON’T STOP! Our black children should not have to suffer the evils that I saw yesterday. We will make a change here in our community. Black. Lives. Matter. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Thankful to everyone who honked and supported 💖 Thankful to everyone who organized 💛 Thankful for our police officers who were there to protect the protesters and go after those harassing us. Sharing from my sweet husband, Ron: Thursday evening, March 7, at 92, Dad went to be with Jesus in his heavenly home. He was a great dad, loved his family, his neighbors, his co-workers, his community, state and country. He was a man who said Why not?, rather than I can not. He loved nature, and always marveled at Gods creation in fields of wheat, the sweep of the land, the movement of trees in the breeze and the flight of the red tailed hawk. He was curious and adventurous, and loved to walk to that edge of poking a sleeping bear. Music was a lifetime love for him, and he especially enjoyed playing the piano. His life was filled with action, travel, service and accomplishment. He felt for the underdog, and championed causes for good. His vision carried him to many great places. He was a KSU Wildcat for life..and loved football through times both lean and good. He was a grand competitor- in sports, business, politics and life. Dad made the most of life, and certainly seized the day, every day. He will be missed, but he is no doubt in full pursuit of the glory he will enjoy forever with the King. Visitation is Tuesday March 19 from 5-7 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday, March 20 at 11 am. Both events are at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. I have debated whether I should post about the passing of Dr. Jose Martinez-Diaz. I believed my grief wasn’t as valid since I only knew him through prerecorded videos (@floridatechaba @aba_technologies) However, the behavior analysis fire in my heart and soul was lit by Dr. Martinez-Diaz. I would not even be one quarter the Behavior Analyst I am without learning from him. His passion brought tears to my eyes. His knowledge and dedication instilled my devotion to being the best for my clients. His humor (saved in numerous clips on my phone for years) made virtual learning engaging and memorable. I procrastinated watching my last class with him because I knew I’d be a mess. The last two clips are from that class. I remember crying and my husband hugging me. He said, “Well, you’ll just have to go to FABA! Go to @fababehavior and tell Jose how much he means to you.” It was a kick in the gut when I heard the news. I’d never be able to tell him, but I’m wrong. I’m telling him right now. Dear Dr. Jose Martinez-Diaz, The number of lives you’ve touched is innumerable. You have created an entire generation of BCBAs who share your passion, who understand the science AND are client-focused. As sad as the community is, I know we will continue your legacy. I am forever indebted to you for striking the match that lit my entire being on fire. I love you and thank you. #behavioranalysis #bcba #floridainstituteoftechnology #fit #aba #loveyou - @rosie.eats.bx on Instagram
