Forest name: Battery Creek Location: South Gippsland, Victoria Between 1999 and 2009 we planted more than 90,000 native trees at Battery Creek to establish a biodiverse forest. It has now become a haven for native birds and wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. In 2013 an insect was also discovered living in the trees at Battery Creek. Officially named a Bog Gum Psyllid (Ctenarytaina bipartite) these tiny cicada like insects are found only in this forest and feed on the juvenile leaves of Bog Gum (Eucalyptus kitsoniana). Last night’s waxing gibbous moon rising over the Sangre de Cristo mountains that surround Taos. 🌔 On October 1st, the moon, known as The Harvest Moon, will be totally illuminated. It will be full again on October 31st, meaning we will have two full moons in one month. When this happens, its called a Blue Moon, which is where the phrase once in a blue moon, describing a rare event, comes from. - @skitaos on Instagram
