Disc Golf brings me joy. Disc Golf tests me daily, it asks me to find ways to be better. Through the stretch from Idlewild, Ledgestone, GMC and MVP, I went through some really difficult moments that tested me hard mentally. I felt defeated at moments, but I knew that I couldn’t stop, I had to push past these moments. I am super thankful to have such an amazing group of people supporting me, I never felt alone and it was everything I needed to get through this time. I wasn’t clinical enough on the putting green, so I made the extra effort to put in more time on the green, I adjusted my stance slightly, and am trusting the process. I am able to do this! Throughout all of this the one thing that hasn’t changed is my confidence in my discs. @dynamicdiscs continues to provide me with everything I need. ¡Para que me conozcan un poco! ☝🏼 Muchos ya saben mi nombre, otros no, pero aquí vamos: Soy Víctor (Vikell) Dionicio, tengo 28 años y un dato muy obvio: loco con los viajes. 😅 Nací, me crié y vivo actualmente en San Cristóbal. Vengo de una familia imperfecta donde hay poca cordura, pero muy trabajadora, ¿se imaginan que aburrido sería que fuera perfecta? una recua de locos que me han criado con mucho amor, respeto y compresión. 😍 A los 17 años me fui a Bélgica Flamenca, donde viví una experiencia de intercambio cultural durante 11 meses con AFS. Allí viví con una familia de hospedaje, quienes me abrieron las puertas de su hogar y me trataron como un hijo, tanto así que tengo las llaves de la casa para regresar cuando quiera. Allá conocí mucha gente, con las que en su momento tuvimos una amistad muy cercana y algunas de éstas han permanecido. ✨ En ese tiempo desarrollé mi apertura cultural y mi pasión por los viajes. La verdad es que vivir en Europa te enseña bastante y las ganas de seguir conociendo se incrementan hasta volverse una adicción. 😄 Volví al país y quería estudiar Administración Hotelera, pero donde estudié (UNIBE) movieron la carrera a Punta Cana y mi papá me “barajó el can” porque ya venía de vivir fuera y había que ayudar en los negocios familiares. Soy licenciado en Mercadotecnia y tengo una Maestría en Marketing Digital y Publicidad Online. 😬 Aunque no pude estudiar lo que quería, al final terminé involucrandome en el sector que siempre he querido trabajar gracias a “Viajando Corto” que se ha convertido en mi proyecto de vida. Autorretratos en cuarentena (2 & 3). . Creo que si me pidieses definir la fotografía, a pesar de que para mí no es una definición fácil y podría extenderme por mucho tiempo, las dos primeras palabras que me vienen a la mente son ciencia y arte. Recientemente tenía una discusión con una amiga sobre este tema. Ella decía que la ciencia es una cosa y el arte es otra totalmente distinta, yo desde mi perspectiva algo poética quería hacerle entender que, si bien no quería aceptar que las ciencias son un arte y que todo arte es una ciencia, y que por ende, a fin de cuentas son absolutamente lo mismo, al menos aceptara que están estrechamente relacionados. Sencillamente podría explicarlo de la siguiente manera: el fotógrafo tiene que trabajar con la ciencia física de la luz, y no sólo esto sino que además debe entenderla, refracciones, difusiones, aberraciones, colorimetría y demás, para consecutivamente realizar una fotografía, en la que si trabajas con cámaras de rollo debes implementar la ciencia química para revelar dicha foto, y si eres de la era digital debes saber de: profundidad de bits, espacios de colores, píxeles, resoluciones, formatos, entre otros. Finalmente esta foto puede ser impresa y colgada en una exposición para que al momento en que tú la apreciases la llamases arte, arte que yo, con lo que ahora sabes, estaría en todo mi derecho de llamar ciencia. Es este momento en el que yo digo que el arte es ciencia, y la ciencia... es arte. Así que sí, haciendo corta la historia, la fotografía es un arte y una ciencia, y el fotógrafo es un artista y un científico, que trabaja para darte a ti una fotografía artísticamente científica... o... ¿científicamente artística? . Algo cómico e irónico en relación a estas fotos es que en un principio pensé que como tardaba tanto en publicarlas cuando lo hiciese por fin no podría titularlas Autorretratos en cuarentena porque la cuarentena ya habría pasado, y... bueno, ya sabemos cómo van las cosas. - @jffoto_ on Instagram

Today is such an odd day for me. I’m not sad. I’m not angry but I am confused and stressed. I’m also thankful. Now if you can make that make sense please shoot me an email, text message, or DM. That would be great. 😆 Today I’m celebrating my 33rd Birthday in an empty apartment in Brooklyn NY. If I’m being honest I don’t really feel like celebrating because so much is wrong at the moment. ( at least in my mind) the world is in an odd space and it makes it hard for me to be excited about celebrating me. It just doesn’t feel right. In a non Covid world I would be out with friends right now at some bar/club living my entire life with some hilarious, passionate, loving, friends. That’s not what’s happening now. Now, I’m putting FedEx labels to boxes that will be shipped to California tomorrow. Because that’s where I’ll be at the end of the week. Now that I’ve got that out. I can say that i am thankful for my time here in New York City. I LOVE it. But my time here is up at the moment. I love the friends I’ve made here. A solid bunch I tell ya! I’ve learned so much about myself and I have grown. If that’s my lesson in this chapter of life then damn it, I’ll take it. Let’s move on. In closing I’m happy to be healthy. I’m happy to be alive. A detailed look at my current profile photo. It was taken during a editorial shoot for @theminimalists . It’s always easier to sneak in a photo of myself on the tail end of a shoot where I already went through the process of lighting and staging. This was achieved with a Rokinon 85mm 1.4 on a Sony A7 with all continuous lighting. An Astra 1x1 as a key light just left of the camera and two tube lights on stands parallel to my ears just out of frame. Also if you look in the reflection of my glasses and eyes you can see a silver bounce filling in the shadow areas and compensating for the wood table. Pro tip: Always be mindful of the colors reflecting off of every surface where you are shooting, it makes a drastic difference in skin tones! 📸: @podcastshawn - @jordanknowmoore on Instagram

#UHIGrad Jacob Dean graduates with an honours degree in Forest Management 🌳🥳👏 He said: Studying at the Scottish School of Forestry was a great experience and I’m so glad that I made the decision to study there, it’s by far the best campus in the world, with a truly one of a kind atmosphere. No matter where you came from, everyone was accepting, welcoming and all there to learn about the fascinating world of forestry.” The 26-year-old originally studied music and performance up to HNC level in Glasgow before travelling around Australia. On his return, he decided to pursue a career in forestry and joined the Scottish School of Forestry on its HND Forestry programme. He continued: “I really enjoyed the practical teaching from the wealth of experienced lecturers, as well and the practical learning and excursions to many different sectors and operations within forestry. The teaching staff were exemplary, with each lecturer having a great depth of knowledge and experience from which we could draw from. The support from lectures was great, with them going out of their way to present opportunities outwith the college, such as academic conferences and industry jobs. I particularly loved the close-knit, family feeling at the Scottish School of Forestry, where everyone was able to grow close bonds and have lasting experiences together.” Jacob combined his HND placement year with working as a professional forestry surveyor, gathering forestry data and mapping woodlands, as well as taking part in a four-month Erasmus exchange program to the Czech Republic. While there he worked with the forestry department at Mendel University, Brno, to manage their university owned forests. He continued: “My placement year was amazing. BUSINESS vs ART⁣ ⁣ Writing with my ideal audience in-mind has been a crazy effective approach to helping me get the attention of the right people and grow my business. Last year alone I probably generated $10K–$15K a month for my photography business, just from writing content on my personal Facebook and Instagram pages. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ AND…⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Sometimes, I just want to write for me. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I love all you humans, but it can be challenging always writing for someone else. When I try to get into the minds of other people I sometimes end up losing my own truth. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ As I write these words, I feel a tension between two versions of myself. There is a fascinating dynamic that exists between Business Darius and Artist Darius. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ In the past, I thought I had to kill one and hold the other sacred. That was definitely not the solution. I now believe this tension can actually be really healthy. Neither of them holds the full truth. I now know they both bring value and can co-exist. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Letting them dance together and find their flow is key. Sometimes Business Darius needs to lead and other times Artist Darius is the one guiding the dance. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Business D has been crushing all summer. Jivraj Singh Sachar: The story of how my journey with ACE started is extremely pleasant. My source of inspiration was my fascination of reading about a lot of unique peoples journey, which made me realise the power of these stories. I noticed many blogs writing about a lot, but there was no streamlined way that I could understand about those people. Though it’s good to focus on a single aspect, and I respect it, I feel it is restrictive. I began my journey with a plan of diversifying. The scope was to reach out to everyone, ranging from a comedian to founders, sportspersons or even a 15-year-old AI expert; I wanted everyone to know about all of these great people, and take inspiration from them, the way I did. The lockdown became a guiding light for me since I could get a lot of people who were willing to share their stories. I know had the perseverance to grow the platform - ACE Humans. We look at people as commodities. Which company did he start, which award did he win, how many medals did he get? But at the same time, these are the people we look upto. I wanted decode this. Instead of the what, I wanted people to know the why. Why they do what they do, and in the process hope, we all learn from it. 6 months in, ACE Humans has grown to 300+ Interviews, and a 10 member team believing in the vision. The Community of great personalities we have built has made us launch ACE Talks, through which we hope to streamline the way speakers conduct events in campuses across India. ACE Talks is now in 12 Campuses, with 6 events lined up in October alone. Currently, we are focussed on 2 models on which we are working, one of which is a story-telling platform, the website of which is going to launch very soon and the other is a Model streamlining college events. Each day is a new learning. This is just the beginning, just the start. None of it would have been possible without the insane team on board. Everyone works tremendously well, understands our purpose and contributes to the cause. The best learning through this journey is never stop learning and trying. Just go out there and try. Como a ordem da vida se inverte rapidamente. Lembro de mamãe voltando pra casa, do hospital, num fusca, carregando um bebê graúdo e de olhos arregalados. Quase sete anos de diferença, então sentia certa responsabilidade de ter que ajudar a cuidar do novo ser que ali chegava. Bem, talvez eu tenha dado alguns vacilos. Como no dia em que cochilei e ele caiu do berço. Rendeu um baita galo na testa. Ou quando tentei carregá-lo pra mostrar o quintal da casa de vovó e acabei batendo a boca do coitado na quina do muro da laje. Aliás, nunca vi criança que se machucou tanto. Pancadas no rosto foram aos montes. Ainda bem que a cabeça é grande e resistente. Tentei cuidar. Não sei se fui bem sucedido. Agora, ele é quem cuida de mim. Não só no trato com a barba (cara, comprei um navalhete e preciso testar em alguém! vai ser em você). Dá broncas - sim, tomo broncas do irmão caçula -, ouve os choros de pitanga, aconselha no que pode e oferece aconchego quando a parada aperta. A ordem da vida se inverte rapidamente. Maria se deu muito bem! Tem um papai do caralho. Os trinta se aproximam, Jão. Já já vai ganhar os fios brancos, tipo aqueles que você tentou arrancar da minha cara com o seu novo brinquedo de fazer barba. Não se preocupe com isso. Quando quiser ou precisar que a ordem da vida volte ao normal, você sabe que tô por aqui. Provavelmente com conselhos não tão bons quanto os seus, mas certamente com cerveja e braços abertos. The end of an era happens today at 4pm UK time on @bbcradio1 @mistajam (Pete) has for the last 15 years worked relentlessly to bring forward new talent of all genres across his shows on @bbcradio1 and @bbc1xtra. For the last 3 years his Dance Anthems show has become the most listened to specialist dance music radio show in the UK with under 35’s on BBC Sounds. The support he and his producer @n8deezy have given our clients on this show has been nothing short of incredible and without it the likes of @meduzamusic @jameshype wouldn’t be in the positions they are today. He was the first person in the world to play Meduza’s “Piece of Your Heart” as an unsigned demo back in August 2018, he did the same with James Hype’s “More Than Friends the year before. I’m sure there are endless stories out there like this from artists like ours, record labels and management companies, the amount of artists his radio shows have helped break in the UK and Globally is testament to him as a broadcaster and will stand the test of time. We were fortunate and proud to begin working with Pete during lockdown here at CCMM, we’ve got to know Pete quite well and found a hugely humble, driven, focused, broadcaster, performer and family man. For me personally he’s underestimated the pivotal role he has within this scene for so many of us across the music spectrum, we are super excited by the challenge ahead for him. 15 Years and out for the BBC, but its only half time and the next 15 years are now ahead of him. Fulfilled that recent promise to myself to get lost in the Pine Barrens more often today with @invinciblesummerfarms (Steph) and @erb.design (Eric). Steph and I were looking for neglected old fruit plants in the ghost towns and former migrant camps scattered throughout the Pines. Eric came along for the fun. We found Florence, but couldnt find Rome (two of the former camps at Whitesbog once inhabited by the Italian laborers who used to pick the cranberries by hand). We did find plenty of ripe cranberries (see 3rd photo), which was great -- both because theyre delicious, and because I was hoping EFN would be able to offer cranberry seeds again soon, and now we should be able to this winter! We also saw a recently hatched turtle nest (guessing a snapper) -- photo 4, and a close up of an egg in photo 5, with cranberry vines snaking past it -- an abandoned old cherry orchard (one tree in photo 6), a very late flowering blueberry, or close blueberry relative (photos 7 and 8), and an Azalea Caterpillar (photo 9), also known as Datana major, which turns into a pretty moth, but just loves munching on azaleas, blueberries, and red oaks, all of which are common there. And, in photo 10, some funky red-tipped lichen! We were only actually lost for a brief spell, while trying to find the supposed pear and apple orchard near the cherry orchard (an old man out hunting quail gave us the tip that led to the former Anderson farmstead), but we found our way back pretty quick. No run-ins with the Jersey Devil either. If anyone has any tips on old apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches, grapes, or figs, out there among the Pines, please send them our way! These old homesteads may prove pivotal once we launch the @lostcrop project in the coming days! One of my biggest struggles in life is the ‘need’ to be busy. I’m ALWAYS doing something. I ‘need’ to be working. I ‘have’ to respond to any sort of communication ASAP. Phone always in hand. The conclusion I’ve come to? I don’t like it. I’ve started planning out my week, this has helped with my need to ‘always work’. When I figure out my schedule, it helps me stay on task so that I get what I need done, done. I try to put my phone away after the kids get home from school until after they’re in bed to help with me be in the moment. I struggle with this a lot, but it is what I want. Sending a huge amount of love and respect to @mistajam as he moves on from @bbcradio1 & @bbc1xtra. He’s championed so many artists, and I’m fortunate to be one of them. He got fully behind all my early Shadow Child material after I changed everything up post-Dave Spoon, which led to him also offering me a Daily Dose guestmix slot on his show in 2012/13. The reach that gave me was immense at the time and I really can’t thank him enough for contributing to my early success.
