Three bronze sculptures stolen from a southern Indian temple more than 40 years ago were found in the UK, and returned to Indian government officials this week. The bronze sculptures represent some of Hinduisms most revered deities - Lord Ram, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman, all part of the same set of idols. They belong to a 15th Century temple built during the Vijayanagara empire, located in Anandamangalam village in Tamil Nadu state, and were stolen in 1978. Vijayanagara was once one of the most important trading centres in the world. Its taken years of work by a group of art enthusiasts, investigations by police teams in two countries, and efforts from Indian diplomats in the UK, to help bring them back. Rishi Panchami 2020 ,Every year Panchami of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is called Rishi Panchami. Women fast on this day. Sapt Rishis are mentioned in the story of the Matsya avatar of Vishnu. It is believed that if their names are chanted then the effect of the persons sinful deeds goes away. During the Matsya avatar of Lord Vishnu, there was a flood in the earth. At the same time King Manu was riding in a big boat with the Dipper. All these were protected by the Matsya avatar of Vishnu. It is said that the name of the Saptarishis should be recited daily. Fasting is done on the day of Rishi Panchami. There are many verses related to the Saptarishis in the scriptures. Following is one of these Rishis . Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadwaja, Vishwamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, Vashistha sages. By chanting them, the persons problem sins are destroyed. The first sage is Kashyapa. He had wives. His wifes name was Aditi. It is believed that from these all the gods and their other wife Diti originated from the demons. The origin of different organisms from all the remaining wives is assumed. The other sages are A tri. His wifes name is Anasuya and sons name is Dattatreya. It is believed that in Tretayuga, Shriram, Lakshmana and Sita stayed in the ashram of Atri Rishi during the exile time. The third sage is Bharadwaja. He composed many other great texts including Ayurveda. Dronacharya was his son. The fourth sage is Vishwamitra. Gayatri Mantra was composed by him only. He was the guru of Sri Ram and Lakshmana. Vishwamitra had taken Shriram and Lakshmana in the swayamvara that was completed with Sita. Maneka had violated Vishwamitras tenacity. The fifth sage is Gautama. His wifes name was Ahilya. By his curse, Ahalya had become stone. The sixth sage is Jamadagni. His wifes name is Renuka. His sons name is Lord Parashurama. His son Parashuram had beheaded Renuka on the orders of his father i.e. Jamadagni. Jamadagni asked Parashurama to ask for the bride. Parashurama demanded the life of Mata Renuka. II KamaleKamini II According to an old Bengali folklore a ship of sailors on their way to trade in the island of Singhala got lost in the dark mysterious waters of the Indian Ocean. It is here, in middle of nowhere sprang forth a beautiful forest of lotus blooms , buzzing with bumblebees and teeming with water birds . Fragrant creepers of ‘malati’ , ‘jaati’ and ‘juthi’ flowers were covered with the pollen of lotuses carried by the wind ! The air was abuzz with melodious songs of birds. In the middle of all this, She is sitting inside a fully blossomed lotus bejeweled and elegant. Her feet was adorned with tingling anklets and the ten nails of her feet shone like ten moons! Her face was radiating glow like the full moon of autumn and the sindur dot on her forehead shone with the brightness of morning sun ! The air had been made fragrant by the lotus like smell of her body and thousands of intoxicated bees were rushing towards her ! And with wondrous amazement they saw that this lady of the lotus is holding an elephant in her hands as it struggles to set itself free . With perfect ease , the lady lifted the elephant with her left hand and devoured it by swallowing it alive ! And at the very next moment , she regurgitated the elephant and then again tossed it back into the mouth , with the elan and grace of a golden swan ! Sometimes between her act , she was turning her head around to see and smiling to herself . Her teeth shone like flashes of lightening as she hummed ragas and raginis. He retired to the forest to acquire spiritual power that would enable him to regain his kingdom. Bhagat encountered Guru Nanak in the wilderness on two occasions, once when he first left his fathers palace and again several years later. These lessons Bhagat learned in his meetings with Nanak enabled him to become a spiritual being (gurmukh). Guru Nanak, accompanied by his loyal companions Bhai Bala and Mardana, is shown here conversing with Dhru Bhagat. The guru, in the center of the painting, is represented as both a spiritual and worldly leader by the halo that surrounds his head and by his fine attire. Bhagat is seated at the gurus left. His own spiritual status is indicated by a halo, and his renunciation of worldly life is conveyed by the long hair coiled on top of his head and a saffron garment. RishikeshBharat Mandir (Temple) is the most ancient, most sacred, most famous temple in Rishikesh. Temple is located in the heart of the city (middle of the city). Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya reinstalled the presiding deity in the temple on the day of Basant Panchmi in 789 A.D. On this day every year the Shaligram is taken for a holy bath in the scared Mayakund and then carried in a grand procession through the city to be taken back to the temple for the symbolic reinstallation. It is also believed that if any pilgrim on the day of Akshya Tritiya takes 108 parikarmas (rounds) of Lord Shri Hrishikesh Naranyan at this temple and seeks the blessing at his feet (it is only day when Lords feet are uncovered), all his wishes are full filled and it is equivalent to the pilgrimage to Badrinath.The temple is mentioned in Vishnu Puran, Shrimadbhagwat, Mahabharat, Vaman Puran and Narsingh Puran. Lord Hrishikesh known as Shri Bharatji Maharaj is different from Lord Ramas younger brother Bharat. He is known by the name of Bharat because he is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Kaliyuga, the preserving force holding Shankh, Chakra, Gada and Padam in his four hands. It is said that the five Pandavas along with Draupadi visited here on their way to heaven. Having stayed here for some period and performed worship of Lord Hirishikesh Narayan.It is sait thet the main temple is named after the Bharat Ram’s brother who meditated here at the time of the Tretayug along wth his other brothers. There is in fact a belief that in the kalyug, Vishnu will be worshipped as Bharat. The other temples in the vicinity are dedicated to Rama or Raghunath Lakshmana and Shatrughana.The four armed idol of Lord Hrishikesh Narayan in the temple signifies that the sage Raibhya conquered over the senses and attained Lord Vishnu. - @rishikeshexperts on Instagram

आदिलशाही राज्यात लपविलेली करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईची मूर्ती छत्रपतींनी पुन्हा मूळ मंदिरात स्थापन केली. पातशाह्यांच्या काळात कोल्हापूर प्रांतावर आदिलशहाचा ताबा होता. या काळात सर्वत्र धामधूम माजलेली असायची. राज्यव्यवस्था स्थिर नव्हती. युद्धप्रसंगी मंदिरांची नासधूस केली जायची. अशावेळी देवीच्या मूर्तीस काही अपाय पोहोचू नये या हेतूने करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईच्या पुजाऱ्यांनी देवीची मूळ मूर्ती मंदिरातून काढून नेऊन कपीलतीर्थाजवळ गुप्त ठेवली होती. पुढील काळात कोल्हापूर प्रांत स्वराज्यात आला. छत्रपतींचे स्थिरस्थावर राज्य स्थापन झाले, तेव्हा वेदशास्त्रसंपन्न नरहरभट सावगावकर यांनी करवीर राज्याचे अधिपती श्रीमंत छत्रपती संभाजीराजे (दुसरे) यांची पन्हाळगडावर भेट घेऊन महाराजांस हा सर्व वृत्तांत सांगितला व आपणांस साक्षात्कार होऊन आई अंबाबाईने आपली मूर्ती मूळ ठिकाणी स्थापन करावी, असा दृष्टांत दिल्याचे महाराजांस सांगितले. यावेळी छत्रपती संभाजीराजेंनी आपले सेनापती सिदोजी घोरपडे - हिंदूराव गजेंद्रगडकर यांना अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीची मूळ मंदिरात विधीवत प्रतिष्ठापना करण्याची आज्ञा दिली. महाराजांच्या आज्ञेनुसार सेनापती घोरपडेंनी सन १७१५ साली विजयादशमीच्या शुभमुहूर्तावर करवीरनिवासिनीच्या मूर्तीची मूळ मंदिरात विधीवत प्रतिष्ठापना केली. ती तारीख होती दिनांक २६ सप्टेंबर १७१५. तोच हा आजचा ऐतिहासिक दिवस, जेव्हा एक शतकाहून अधिक काळ गुप्तपणे लपवून ठेवलेल्या अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीची तिच्या मूळ मंदिरात पुनर्स्थापना झाली. छत्रपतींच्या स्थिर व सुरक्षित राजसत्तेचे ते प्रतीक होते. मूर्तीबद्दलची माहिती देऊन आपल्याकडून हे शुभकार्य घडवून घेतल्याबद्दल छत्रपती संभाजीराजांनी नरहरभट यांना काही पेठा व वतने इनाम दिली व देवीच्या नित्य पूजाअर्चेसाठी सावगाव हे गाव इनाम दिले. . छत्रपती संभाजीराजे (दुसरे) म्हणजे छत्रपती शिवरायांचे नातू व छत्रपती राजाराम महाराजांचे सुपुत्र होत. संदर्भ : करवीर रियासत, पान २६४ सेनापती घोरपडे घराण्याची कैफियत. छायाचित्र - करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीचे शंभर वर्षांपूर्वी टिपलेले ऐतिहासिक छायाचित्र. - @kolhapur_darshan on Instagram

Thiru Aadi Pooram & Andal Jeyanthi wishes...Remembering her holiness on her bday . Shri Andal is the only woman poet to be recognized as an Alwar - Mystic Vaishnavite Saints . Natchiyar Thirumozhli is a compilation of 143 verses of Shri Andal. This is part of the great work of Natchiyar Thirumozhi. Vaaranan Aayiram consisting of 10 verses of Thirumozhi written at her age of 15. She was bought up by Periazhlar another Vaishnavaite saint; she deeply fell love with the Lord Ranganatha. It relates the sequences of her dream of getting married to the Lord to her friend... The beauty of these verses lies in the fact that any young woman on the threshold of marriage of this present times can identify herself with Andal, transcending time, class, and other barriers. Apart from the astonishing literary merit of these verses that are dripping with Bhakti, what is amazing is the rituals of the marriage mentioned 1200 years earlier are still followed with the same enthusiasm even today. In the 10 stanzas, she makes reference to the 10 important steps of the marriage ceremony viz. .
