As we are living in quarantine, a global pandemic, social distancing, 2020 has been and is like one of the weirdest years that ever existed. In times like these you tend to get demotivated, out of order, lazy and just want to give up. I was having the kind of days too. When my to do list kept exploding and all I wanted to stay in bed and just give up on everything. There were days when I actually sat and pondered do I really need to work this hard? Was quite hesitant in doing this when he asked me nak tak nak? because dancing to a malay song is never my forte. I decided to jump onto this track when I understood the meaning and intention of the song. Long story short, the song and @farizjabba words moved me, and this video came about. . . Art is an intimate relationship that only you have and you can never ever let people touch that. - @farizjabba I believe that I had sat in this conversation with him and shared our own views as to why we took our own form of art and how it heals us. In conclusion, we love what we do and doing that makes us feel more of a human. . . Theres so much to this song itself if you were to read and understand its lyrics. When creating this piece with @nfj15 , I often question myself, what is the intention in this choreography? Why am I doing this? What should I feel about this? So many questions were raised in my mind. I only had one clear goal. That was to find peace within myself. With everything thats going on, I dumped all my sadness, my sleepless nights, my anger, my frustrations and my depressing days all into this creation. After all that is done, truth be told, it felt as though a ton of weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. . . This creation is also a form of dedication. To you and to whoever that feels like they need it, you can have it. This goes out to those who have had to ride through the tough tide. Long story short this time last year I got to connect with @raekwon about a clock collaboration. Month after linking I flew out to @611purplefactory before the grand opening in Toronto to personally install 9 #PurpleTape clocks set to different time zones. The Purple Factory is a dope shop with all of Raes exclusive gear and an official barbershop with the Wu mirrors. I didnt get to stay for the grand opening but I got to link with the homie @villabeatz for a hot sec before hopping on the bus back so I could install my water exhibition at @artapplenyc. I was so busy around that time I never even posted these clocks until @cynaminjones reminded me that we need appreciate our hard work sometimes. Today marks the 25th anniversary of #OnlyBuilt4CubanLinx so its only right I pay homage and respect to the chef.
