On Wednesday Chris and I lost a part of our hearts. Junya, our bubu, left us suddenly and tragically, and the loss split me in two. How strange it is to feel inconsolable grief in a moment of collective grieving. How deep the loss is felt when comforts are sought every hour. Junya was 7 when he died, about 45 human years for those wondering. He was loved more than I can express. He flew across the country on my lap, and made every space he occupied a complete and perfect home. He was a little shit, but loyal and loving to a fault. He slept in my arms every night. We are hurting, painfully noticing the quiet, emptiness the loss of our last third has brought, but we are healing - learning how to be just two again. Junya, I love you, and you will always be my beautiful baby boy.
