Michael Sperau, of Stuart, fishes off a dock at the Sandsprit Park Boat Ramp Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, in Martin County. Sperau, who runs a bait business, said he typically uses the Stuart Causeway ramp. With the Jensen Beach Boat Ramp on Indian River Drive closed indefinitely for repairs, boaters are left with less options and forced to use other ramps, like the lesser quality Stuart Causeway ramp or the further away Sandsprit Park Boat Ramp. • • “Every scratch you see here is from the Stuart ramp, said Sperau of the damaged edge of his bait boat Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Sandsprit Park in Martin County. Mark Lynch, Martin County Parks and Recreation assistant director, knows there are boat ramp issues and is working with the budget to make plans for improvements. We dont have a list of whats needed yet for Stuart Causeway, but we know its in rough shape, Lynch said. We are working with trying to get grants to help us pay for it with our Capital Improvement Projects. We have $250,000 in the fiscal year 2022 for that ramp. • • Capt. Nota oficial . O óleo ainda não acabou: manchas reaparecem em algumas praias do Nordeste . . Na última semana, foi notificado o reaparecimento de fragmentos de óleo em Alagoas, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte e, mais recentemente, em Salvador. Segundo uma nota publicada pela Marinha do Brasil, os resíduos que voltaram a aparecer em praias de Alagoas e Pernambuco neste mês de junho apresentaram perfis químicos compatíveis com o material que atingiu a costa brasileira, sobretudo no Nordeste, em 2019. . . Fatores como alterações no regime de ventos e marés, que revolvem sedimentos e possibilitam o ressurgimento desses fragmentos, são as possíveis causas do ressurgimento do óleo nas praias do litoral Nordestino. . . On my birthday, I was *that* passenger who was super duper suspicious, and I ended up being searched nearly naked in the airport. Apparently, wanting to travel to Israel for my birthday was extraordinarily quizzical. My hand baggage was immediately confiscated from me (and searched without my presence), I was separated from my travel partner, interrogated (twice), searched, searched again (this time in my undies), and then finally released to be able to board the flight (balling my eyes out). I was the last passenger to board - and I was petrified that I’d have to remove my clothes again in Tel Aviv upon my arrival. I almost didn’t get on that flight to go to Israel because no trip on this planet is worth feeling the way I did in that airport at that moment before my departure. Just writing about this scary experience makes me angry and want to cry. But, I endured through the horror and embarrassment, and I was determined to put this experience in the past and have an awesome time celebrating my birthday. There was a lot of alcohol consumed that night! 🇮🇱 #TRAVELTIP: If you’re traveling to Israel, I recommend checking in for your flight at the airport versus online - and arrive extra early. Such as the indigenous Miskito fishermen living on the Atlantic coast of Honduras. Many of these men have been divers all their lives. But now, because of climate change and overfishing, the waters have been so depleted and these men must dive into increasingly dangerous depths without the proper equipment. As a result, thousands of these fishermen suffer from some degree of decompression syndrome, a disorder resulting from the drop in pressure that occurs in the body when divers surface from the deep. Adaptation, like in nature, is the key to survival and, if we’re going to survive, we must adapt—quickly. Sin lugar a dudas esta visita está en las Top 3 de mis visitas a bodegas del Marco de Jerez. @bodegasyuste ubicada en Sanlúcar de Barrameda fundada en el año 1989, hice un largo recorrido por su bodega donde @gabrielsanlucar Me hizo disfrutar como un niño cuando está en un parque de atracciones y tiene la oportunidad de probar todo lo que uno quisiese. Espectacular no, lo siguiente. Actualmente han fichado a una enóloga que ha estado trabajando en Borgoña, Chile, y con Willy Pérez; @cardlpa ideas frescas para una generación nueva que va pisando fuerte y que sé que le irá muy bien. Tuve la oportunidad de probar diferentes soleras y 1° y 2° criaderas de su manzanilla Aurora como de su manzanilla La Kika, una de las mejores manzanillas de Sanlúcar ( es mi opinión ). Posteriormente probé su afamado y ya conocido para mí Conde de Aldama ; cuando se adquirió este magnífico vino en 1927 ya era un amontillado de primerísima calidad y uno de los más viejos en crianza (más de un siglo de vejez media) del Marco de Jerez, con 98 puntos Peñìn. Si eso fue un espectáculo maravilloso para el paladar , yo, siendo amante de los vinos dulces , y probar un moscatel qué no comercializa y que lo tiene para él fue algo ..que se queda para mí, miel para los ángeles.. Para terminar un pequeño regalo , vino dulce con uvas tintas que no desvelaré mucho más, quién quiera tendrá que ir allí y probarlo por sus propios medios. Nenek moyang mereka berasal dari Kalimantan Selatan. Menurut Kepala Desa Melintang, Kec. Muara Wis, Darmansyah, sebagian besar warga yang datang ke Desa Melintang adalah warga yang diincar penjajah Belanda untuk diculik dan dibunuh. This house was built for Solomon Sigisimond Shad, a LaVilla liquor company owner, in 1909.  Son of a Cuban-born mother, Shad was also known as The Whiskey Man and found in violation of state alcohol laws in 1914. In 1946, the house was acquired by Pedro Mendez (pictured). Born in Santiago, Cuba and running a tailoring company, Cuban club and restaurant in Harlem, Mendez opened a tailoring business (pictured) nearby in 1927. After hearing MaVynee Betsch, the Beach Lady of American beach and granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln Lewis sing, daughter Padrica Mendez (pictured) decided she wanted to sing opera. Studying in Italy, she would go on to have a career as an opera singer, actress and fashion designer. Surviving the neighborhoods failed 1990s urban renewal, the Mendez house is the last stately residence standing on West Monroe Street and one of the few remaining buildings tied to the neighborhoods early 20th century Latin heritage and historical story. The Estuaries and Bays Ecoregion concludes our virtual visits to each of the area’s 10 ecoregions! As frozen water from the ice age began to melt, sea level in the Gulf of Mexico rose over 200 feet and flooded river valleys that had cut into the shelf. Three of the flooded river valleys became great estuaries of the upper Texas coast: the Sabine Lake system, the Galveston Bay system and the Matagorda Bay system. Our bays and estuaries are incredibly productive. Galveston Bay is the national leader in the production of oysters. Port Arthur, Galveston and Palacios lead the Texas coast in shrimp landings, and Texas leads the nation in brown shrimp landings. Together, Sabine Lake and Galveston and Matagorda bays provide over half of the blue crab catch on the Texas coast. And for recreational fishing, Galveston Bay—the most heavily fished of our coastal bays—also has the highest catch per unit of effort by sport fishermen. Today is #PassTheHandle Day, but yesterday definitely counted for getting some new people on the water! I met 6 guys that came out to @elitecablepark for the first time and had never wakeboarded before. Had some good conversations on the dock and gave them some good tips and pointers as they were learning how to make it around the park. Great group of guys and I was really feeling the stoke when they started making it off the dock! We finished off our racing season with about the best possible conditions for our Kendall Pacific Cup race, approximately 30 miles from Kalapaki Beach to Kekaha. Crews experienced epic downwind sailing conditions and finished in less than 3 hours. Awesome to have Captains Todd Sandvold and Nick Beck join us with their Holopuni V3 canoes! Post race stories included amazing downwind surfing, one canoe swamping and having to be towed back, and in another canoe, a crew member falling into the ocean in a precarious part of the race when trying to move seats, only to be grabbed by another fast-reacting crew just behind. Afterwards at our post-season party, members expressed gratefulness to others and to the group as a whole in helping each other not only in our race season but also in this life we share together.
