Did you know that during the month of October, Kids can go FREE to the @sandiegozoo and @sdzsafaripark ? Kids FREE @visitsandiego is back with special savings on SD hotels, restaurants, attractions, museums, and tours. Visit our bio for more info. A couple weeks ago, we visited the @sdzsafaripark. This was our first time visiting since COVID safety measures have been put in place. They had a drive-up tent to answer health screening questions before you enter the park. They are currently limiting capacity but we visited late afternoon and it was not crowded. The first place we went to visit is the Walkabout Australia exhibit. It is unique in that it is home to 2 platypus and is the ONLY place you can see a platypus outside of Australia! They offer complimentary timed tickets to visit the platypus habitat so get there early. My kids loved seeing a platypus in person for the first time and to learn more about this unique egg laying, nocturnal, mammal. The Walkabout Australia also has a great exhibit for the kangaroos and wallabies where you can walk freely among them. You have to sanitize before entering a enclosed area where there are no barriers separating you from the animals. It’s fun to see the kangaroos up close and hopping around. 🦘 The Tiger trail provides multiple opportunities to see Sumatran tigers up close. Although one of our favorite activities, the Africa tram, is closed currently, there are still so many fun opportunities to visit and learn about animals at the park. Some tips before you go: 🐅 Currently, the park is operating on less than half of normal capacity on a first-come first-served basis. Dinosaur Ridge, the top dinosaur track site in the USA, is just outside of Denver, Colorado. You can walk around or up a small hill/ridge and see many types of dinosaur fossils as well as sea life from the same era embedded in the rock face. I have included a series of pictures. They have signs telling you about the dinosaurs that made the fossils, so you can do a self-guided tour. Some of the best-known dinosaur fossils and tracks were found here, including Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Theropod, and Allosaurus. When I went 6 or 7 years ago, admission was free. You could also download an audio tour on your phone for free. Guided tours are $15. They have a museum and gift shop on site too. This is a great educational and interesting place to visit if you are in Denver. Best of all it is a nice walk in fresh air in beautiful surroundings. Started the day off yesterday with my FAVORITE order of crepes from @crepebar !! The Vanilla bean crepe (I ordered with no candied peanuts) is PACKED with Strawberries and vanilla magical deliciousness!!!! We checked out the newly opened @area15official a few days ago and WOW. Just, WOW. Even without anchor tenants @meow__wolf and @lostspiritsdistillery open yet, there is SO MUCH to do and see. It is VERY cool, and honestly we probably only saw about 1/4 of it. ——— You have to reserve tickets ahead of time; it’s free to do so but they’re currently completely sold out through October and haven’t opened up reservations for November yet. Once inside, there are bars to eat and drink at and several of the “rides” are open (those aren’t free, though), including one that zips you around the ceiling so you get a birds-eye-view of the whole venue! ——— Here’s photos just from the outside leading to the main entry.
