F e m i n i n i t y & m e 🤍 As a woman, I’m a bit ashamed to admit this... One of my biggest goals this year, before all the COVID stuff kicked in, was to be more in touch with my feminine side. You see, I used to be really girly and super into my appearance. You would never ever catch me walking out the door without make-up on and my hair done (for those that know me personally, yes, there was once a time when I did more to my hair than throw it in a bun or pony!🤣) Somewhere in the last few years of absolute mayhem on a busy charter yacht, I just forgot about myself. I stopped putting myself first... Now if you’re a yacht stew, especially a sole stew, then you hear and understand me when I say “I don’t even have time to brush my hair let alone shower!” 😱🤣 I used to find that funny. I used to think being too busy and too engrossed in my job to have basic self care was somehow a symbol of me being committed to and great at my job. Now I just think: 👌🏽 what 👌🏽 the 👌🏽 fuck 👌🏽 Girls if you’re working or living in an environment that forces you or brainwashes you to start neglecting yourself STOP. Stop that nonsense right now! Take it from me: have some fucking respect for yourself and look after yourself. I don’t care how busy you are, how demanding your days are, who needs what from you. You cannot keep filling everyone else’s cups up from an empty jug! Believe me, I did it for years and I’m paying for it now not just emotionally but physically too. Draw that line. Set those boundaries. Teach people how to treat you, and what they can expect from you. Take back control of your life, or at the very frickin’ least your basic human right to wash/pamper/sleep. STOP NEGLECTING YOURSELF. I know there are so many of you out there that this will resonate with and if you don’t know how to teach the people in your life how to respect you, (be it kids, a husband, friends or a demanding boss) then message me so I can send you a voice note screaming the way forward at you like a passionate drill sergeant.
