My partner has been telling me to replant my Kentia in a bigger pot for a while now. He said she needed more room to grow and that once I gave it to her, she will bloom so fast and grow so much that she won’t fit into this office anymore. That day after the explosion, as I picked out the glass pieces out of the soil to repot it, I realized this plant and I were going through the same thing. It is a great metaphor to what I imagine my life to soon look like. I will dust the glass off my shoulders and repot myself in a place that has more room for me to grow. Somewhere I can take the time to heal in peace and be productive. Somewhere I can focus on my dreams. I will go get lost in the world only to come back 10x stronger for my home country. Need help rooting your plant cuttings? There are many methods available such as water (easiest), perlite, and soil; but I prefer the sphagnum moss method. Sphagnum moss is a great substrate to use because it retains nutrients, keeps soil warm, and is lightweight (which allows for proper aeration). How to root your plant in sphagmoss: 1. Soak the sphagmoss in warm water for about 20-30 minutes and gently wring excess water out. 2. Place sphagmoss in a glass or clear plastic container (this will allow you to easily monitor the plant roots as they are forming) 3. Now its time to prepare your cutting! To do this, dip the cutting in rooting hormone powder.* 4. Then place the cutting in the now fluffy, rehydrated sphagnum moss. 5. Cover the container your cutting is in with plastic wrap or a glass dome to retain some moisture (think mini-greenhouse!). 6. (Optional) Place on a warm heating pad. *Why use rooting hormone? Rooting hormone significantly improves the plant’s resistance to stress by speeding up the synthesis of the antioxidant enzymes the plant needs to form roots. Snake plants are not only low maintenance and tolerable of low light but they have so many patterns and shapes that always amaze me!! This is a sansevieria moonshine. Being a girl from the South the word moonshine brings back some memories...😂🤪Cheers to that! Anyways. 🌱plant care for snake plants that have worked for us are pretty basic. Water as the soil is dry to touch. Meaning the top few inches of the soil do not stick to your finger when you test the soil before watering. 💦 Watering once a week should be good. Always depends on the climate and container the plant is in. 🌞 Sunlight varies for these plants but really all snake plants can adapt from low to high light. My personal fav thing about this plant is how it is so easy to propagate and so fun to watch in the process. I’ll have to share more about that later! #happysunday - @_tayflower_ on Instagram

Hi from me and my home! ❣️ Things are different and weird, but my fiddle tree grew a new leaf for the first time ever and it feels important. I always thought: “he won’t grow until I repot him — uproot him and put him in a new place, somewhere bigger with more space and better soil.” Turns out all he needed was more attention. I’ve been cracking the blinds on my furthest left window, the one he sits directly beneath, since we’ve been staying home. (To be honest, this initial move was made for me, not him — to make my space feel more open, more airy) I don’t know how you’re feeling, how you’re sitting in all of this but this little growth moved me — a gentle nod that growing new leaves in unexpected environments is possible, if we choose to let the light in just a little. I’m willing to bet the small curtains we spread (the written notes, the dinner-over-FaceTime calls, the wave to the walker one side-street over) may result in more sprouting, living leaves than we know. - @em_yates_ on Instagram

*****PSA***** With postal service delays being a big concern currently I decided to share this story to help increase the optimism for positive outcomes should your package be delayed. The plant pictured was returned today due to an insufficient address mind you it’s been in the box for a whopping 32 DAYS!!!!!! No light no water just in the dark for 32 days straight!!!! Obviously all delays do not work out as we would like but this one certainly went well. Hopefully this will allow an increase in optimism for plants potential ability to handle delays in transit. Again this is no way a guarantee as we have no control over delays, handling or conditions plants are subject to once they leave our hands.
