This week I will be sharing some photographs from my series Interlude In Blue, a body of work touching upon themes of loneliness, isolation and alienation while dealing with ideas of beauty, fantasy, theatricality and reality. This work was inspired after moving to Berlin. I was interested in representing the fissure that exists between the individual’s identity and the society’s reality when feeling a “stranger”. This beautiful vortex was the result of the cathartic wail I’d described in my FB Live yesterday. I was taking @kenlynkolleen ‘s powerful Kundalini yoga class on Zoom (thank you!). Our initial chant connected me with my rallying roar on Saturday and I began to sob. The sob became a wail as images of pain and suffering from my own life and other people’s lives flashed before my eyes. What I carry in my body is not just my own. One of my superpowers is feeling deeply. These days I’m learning the art of boundaries and surrendering. The chronic pain that is lodged in my pelvic floor began to release. I know the more I release and embody my true purpose, the closer I am to living a pain free life. I felt my ancestors, angels and spirits so I immediately created a circle of candles to acknowledge them and to anchor their protective energies around me. This also keeps out what is not mine. Creating a sacred healing space like this meets the darkness with light, comfort and joy. The Chinese characters in the background were written for me by an elder who is now an angel. 自強不息 (zi qiang bu xi) means to have an unremitting spirit, to “never give up on one’s aspirations”. WEDDING HANGOVER⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wer kennts nicht... Sprüche wie: Ach Hochzeitsfotograf, das ist ja ein easy Job.. das bisschen fotografieren...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tja, ganz so easy ist es eben nicht. Ich kann euch sagen, dass so eine Hochzeitsreportage über 12 Stunden und mehr echt anstrengend ist. Sowohl körperlich, als auch geistig. Permanent aufmerksam sein zu müssen um keinen Moment zu verpassen... Da zehrt schon echt an den Nerven. Dazu den beinahe den kompletten Tag stehen und die schwere Kamera halten... Das geht auf den Rücken....⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Am Tag nach so einer großen Hochzeitsbegleitung ist daher bei mir immer Wedding Hangover angesagt. Über die Jahre habe ich gelernt mir am nächsten Tag keine Termine einzutragen, sondern mir Zeit zum regenerieren und verarbeiten zu gönnen. Man bekommt ja auch sooo viele Eindrücke an so einem Tag mit.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nichts desto trotz liebe ich meinen Job über alles und kann mir nichts schöneres vorstellen.
