I reached 3000 followers last night and I‘m very grateful for so much love and support these past 5.5 months. You‘ve all made this journey I‘m on and have so many plans for that will probably change my whole life so much better. So thank you! ❤️ - I thought to do a special loaf for this. In the beginning (gosh that sounds so long ago, it was mid April! 🙈) I always made these artsy face loaves inspired by painters that are dear to me. This one is my favourite painting right now as for some reason, I see myself in it and it inspires me to stay true to myself and my looks. Its called „Femme au collier jaune“ and is painted by Picasso shortly after the second world war ended. it’s my ONE YEAR since bottom surgery today, what? this past year has felt like a blur and a whirl and i’ve not had time to process the massive change to my body! I’m grateful to have my body match to how it’s supposed to, I’m grateful for the support of everyone who’s been there for me. Have you painted with gouache yet? Ive been playing around with gouache recently & love how quickly it dries & how easily you can layer on top of one other. A few tips that have helped me - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Cut your paper into smaller pieces (I use Canson Watercolor paper) This was probably one of the best tips I got when I started painting this year. Start small until youre comfortable with a full sheet! 📃⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Blend with water but not too much until you get that creamy consistency. Gouache and watercolor are different and it took me a bit to get the hang of it 💧 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Use what you got! I use the same brushes that I paint with watercolor. I havent been told to try anything else, so Im sticking to these guys right here 🖌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Look to the pros! Tw: suicide. I’ve come to ponder if my mission in life is to destigmatize. I feel a drive to help dismantle what ails us in our sexualities, desires and shame around differences. It’s become routine to speak about my journey with these topics but one I’ve never talked about is suicidal ideation. #suicidepreventionmonth is coming to a close so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ve never outright desired to die, but I know what it feels like to desperately seek relief from pain. Back when I found out my partner of 7 years was having an affair, my reality was shattered. I didn’t want to live in a world where the person I trusted the most would choose to pay for his comfort with my pain. The grief was so physical, shocking full body pain so immense, it felt intolerable. I didn’t want to die but I wanted to cease to exist. I even knew that the pain would eventually ease, but that knowledge did little to comfort me. What helped me was the care of my friends and family. Those who saw my pain and reached out. Those who took initiative. Who came to see me without asking. Who called others to check on me. Who gave me their time and used their words to insist upon me my own value. With their help I got to the other side. I got to reap the benefits of growth that reality altering pain can bring. The shattering of what I thought was reality was the shattering of a delusion, necessary to release repression, compartmentalization and sleep walking. I was reunited with essential parts of myself that had been denied and buried. I now see my partner’s affair as a blessing in disguise. If you are struggling, know that there is immense joy and unbelievable experiences ahead of you. You’ll be blown away by the person you become. And if you see someone struggling, know your initiative can give them a life line. Know that sometimes you don’t need to get permission to help them. In those moments I was incapable of asking for help. At the end of the day, you can’t save anyone, but you might help them choose to save themselves. The term Swailing comes from an English term for a controlled burn, often used in forestry to clear land of overgrowth, to prevent out of control forest fires, all in service of promoting new and tender growth. When I was painting these originally, almost 5 months ago, I meant it as an admonishment of of the wealthy profiting off this pandemic - and the painful demonstration of their disregard of human life has only become more cruel and pointed. Now with wildfires raging all across the west coast, devastating swaths of forest, homes, entire towns (to be honest, the environmental devastation we are seeing is incredibly painful to see - nearly to a point where I cannot engage with it) - this years fire season is not only a direct result of climate change, but also the disenfranchisement and displacement of Indigenous people who have long used controlled burns in land management for centuries. Pull the thread, every path leads back to this country’s rat king of foundational principles: capitalism, exploitation, and power hoarding. 🕳🕳🕳 My original statement stands, burn it all down, eat the rich. Billionaires should not exist when so many of us are one paycheck away from poverty. But I guess in the meantime, these videos are a balm on a hot, tired brain. 🌪🌪 Smoking gray I think close up’s of hair color are probably my favorite photo’s. Swipe 👉🏼 to see outside and indoor photos lighting makes a difference in hair color that can be seen especially in blondes. Still beautiful in both but the color really shines in the sun. Most gray’s will overtone either purple or blue, which is good thing, that overtone fades in the next 2-4 days. But this overtone helps combat any residual yellow tones that might be still in the hair. 6th annual textile sale to raise funds for Maya students in Belize, Chiapas, and Guatemala For the past six years, Weaving for Justice has been partnering with the Maya Educational Foundation (www.mayaedufound.org) and the New Mexico State University Museum to hold a sale of donated textiles and other items from Mesoamerica and Latin American to fund scholarships for Maya students in Belize, Chiapas, and Guatemala, with a special focus on girls and young women. The fundraiser is made possible by 32 donors who generously donated from their collections over 700 beautiful textiles, jewelry, pottery, books, and tourist items. This Fall the sale will be Saturday October 31st and Sunday November 1st from 10 am-5 pm. The University Museum is not open at this time, so we will hold our sale outside under tents in the parking lot of our store at 525 E. Lohman Ave. near downtown Las Cruces. Students are especially welcome and receive a 20% discount. Face masks are required. Моя солнечная батарея по-прежнему заряжалась от человеческого контакта, постепенно трансформируясь в гибрид. Я сама неожиданно превратилась в альтернативный источник собственной жизненной энергии. ⠀ Настоящее время. Замурованная самоизоляцией вместе с детьми и мужем, я словила реальный дзен, научившись получать ещё больше плюсов от собственной компании. Это вовсе не означает, что я замкнулась, стала отшельником или мизантропом. “Echo” In a dream she walks towards her own death, the great “Gajavahini” the river bearing one, the all Mother, walks towards the end. We follow her gentle stride. Petals are petrified, but the mother calms them : If obscurity is Darkness, than clarity is Light. If Clarity is the destination than Obscurity is the Journey. Just Breath, you’ll get to the light through this darkness. This darkness is not an obstacle but instead a pathway. They both are connected, life gestating inside the womb in tranquil darkness and beings born into an illusionary world with their eyes closed. Where eyes believe what they see, the ears get seduced by words, taste is enslaved to habits and the mind procrastinates relentlessly. Soon which disconnects us from our deeper unity and through our suffering we urge the calming darkness to show us the way again, the way to the Mother. It is one, this light & dark, encircled . It’s the darkness of hate which needs to be confronted with the light of love and it’s the sensory world of light, which needs to be absolved by diving back into the ethereal darkness. With that the Elephant mother, draped in premonition, kept walking towards her own death, accepting it, imagining how a forest will emerge out of her. In deep meditation we who loved her, found ourselves walking alongside her. “Can we too gift our bodies back to the Earth?” From her heart a ripple echoed, she put her trunk on our shoulders. We felt her burden but we also felt her strength. The flowers were not petrified anymore of the torrential rain, they soothed the blistered feet of the mother. That’s why the Earth cracks without water. And when we woke up, a forest had sprouted where she stood yesterday. Her words echoed. To walk through the dark, like it’s love and to embrace the light, like it’s a new beginning. Rivers poured forth from the eyes and lurched forth towards the forest. Blues engulf me all over, and I can feel the cold as I descend further. The breath I hold in, is held sanctuary inside my being and I hold on for dear life. Struggling, arms flailing, I attempt to wrench myself free. But the rope is too tight. My wrists feel the pain shooting through like knives stabbing at flesh, the jute is too harsh, and the strength of the current doesn’t soften it. Wounds burn on my shin. My hands are tied behind my back, but I feel the blood ooze. Blood oozes out from every cut on my skin. I’m sure those monsters at the surface haven’t left their vantage point yet. They wait patiently for me to rot and float at the top like a bloated balloon. I wish they never get the satisfaction of watching that happen. Their blood is too impure, their minds corrupted and corrosive, spreading poison and drinking it like finely made wine. They thrive on pain impinged on innocent souls like mine. This false sense of security won’t sustain me any longer. The air in my lungs is held captive too long and tears threaten to escape, but I don’t let them. They mustn’t merge with the currents of this water, for if they do, they may flow into the hands of those marauders. My lungs are bursting, and I can’t coax them to soldier on anymore. I shut my eyes tight because I can’t bring myself to see this tragedy, this closing of the door. I can’t bear the dying of the light. I prefer perpetual darkness over the transition from white to black. This suffocation tightens to the point where I plead to cross over to the other side. ... Поэтому мы рекомендуем проводить за этим занятием как можно больше времени. Постарайтесь быть внимательны. ⠀ Если у вас будет возможность принести растение в студию и поместить его на вращающийся стол, тогда вы сможете рассмотреть его со всех сторон. Если нет, то это можно сделать и в домашних условиях с правильным освещением (посмотрите еще раз наш пост о рабочем месте). ⠀ Как растение развивается, из каких частей оно состоит? Попробуйте понять его характер. Сильный и напористый? Деликатный и хрупкий? Утонченный, дерзкий или, может быть, агрессивный? ⠀ О чем растение может рассказать, и какую его часть вам хотелось бы изобразить? Подумайте о том, что вы хотите передать своим рисунком. Как только вы уловили характер растения, познакомились с его строением и формой роста, переходите к детальному изучению особенностей его строения. ⠀ Посмотрите, как листья располагаются на стебле: попарно, поочередно или по спирали? Изучите форму листьев, характер внешнего края, структуру и пигментацию. Тщательно рассмотрите узор жилок, обратите внимание, как они ответвляются от центральной жилки: отходят напрямую к краю листа или сперва соединяются с другими жилками? ⠀ Рассмотрев узор на одном листе, не спешите его копировать для всех листочков, которые появляются на вашем рисунке. Даже у самых строго организованных растений все листья разные, не забывайте рассматривать их с оборотной стороны. One year ago today we released The Thief. This album was a culmination of years and years of hard work and sacrifice, and we cannot overstate our gratitude to every single person who has shown us love and support. Whether you were there for our first show in 2009 or found out about us when this record hit the street, we appreciate you being there with us just the same. This record also began our working relationship with Ripple Music, a family we are so proud to be a part of. It’s been a heck of a journey for us since this record came out. We toured all autumn long, saw places we’d never seen and met people we now consider family. Unfortunately, we cannot control the world around us. Due to COVID, we had to cancel a lot of shows. I mean a lot. Europe in March and April, east coast with our friends in Snow Burial in June. Weekend trips with Lo-Pan and Bridesmaid. Several other shows in between. In fact, if circumstances were different, we’d be just weeks away from heading back to the west coast as we speak. We’d be gearing up for even more touring in the fall. Rest assured, as soon as we’re able we’ll be coming to see you all on the road. We miss you. Thank you for all the support. We hope to see you soon. Estos días estuve leyendo sobre las propiedades de la canela para el cabello, dicen que fomenta el crecimiento, controla la caída y le da fuerza. A mí me encanta la canela, la pongo en el té ☕️, en la compota de manzana 🍏, etc, adoro su aroma. Ya me tocaba hacer alguna mascarilla así que quise probarla, mezclé aceite de oliva y canela, me dio un poquito de miedo el color que tomó, por sí teñía la cana, pero me animé a ponerla haciendo masajes en el cuero cabelludo, con la pasta que quedó en el fondo del tarro mezclé champú y un poco de acondicionador, después de esperar el tiempo necesario, usé esa mezcla para lavarlo.
