This autumn marks 40 years since Ivor and Susie pressed the first traditional varieties of unsprayed cider apples delivered in 25k g sacks from small, local farms to Hays Head, Pembridge, beginning our #organic journey. · At that time the large industrial cider makers were pressing less English cider apples and were becoming increasingly dependent on imported apple concentrate made from dessert fruit. As Susie and Ivor travelled the county they saw productive orchards with the fruit rotting on the ground · In the 1970s the cider market in Britain was controlled by a small number of enormous cider producers; nearly all the small-scale, farmgate selling cider makers were located in the south-west in Somerset and Devon. Herefordshire had been one of the main growers of cider varieties for centuries. Initially in Herefordshire the bulk of the fruit was pressed and fermented for domestic consumption. Then, nearly three hundred years ago, in 1727, Symonds Cider and English Wine Company of Stoke Lacy was founded. Over a hundred and fifty years later two more large-scale commercial cider businesses were established in Herefordshire and gradually farmhouse production declined and nearly all the apples harvested were sold to these producers or to industrial cider makers in other parts of the country. · In 1980 Ivor and Susie, with machinery last used generations ago, and an old half-timbered granary reconstructed on site to be the cider shop, milled and pressed ancient, unsprayed varieties of cider apples such as Foxwhelp, Brown Snout and Frequin Rouge, all picked separately in small quantities, from a museum orchard along the lane at Broxwood and other local farms. This allowed Susie and Ivor to understand the individual characteristics of the various varieties. Sabias la historia de Nirvana en Argentina🤔? Año 1992 y Nirvana estaba en la cúspide de la fama gracias a su álbum nevermind.. todo Argentina🇦🇷 espero con muchas ganas al trío de Seattle para presentarse ..cómo es sabido siempre hay una o 2 bandas teloneras y está no fue la exepcion . La primera banda fue una banda argentina llamada los brujos y después una banda. Que trajo Kurt y Courtney llamda Calamity Jane. Banda de punk la cual era formada por 3 chicas , las cuales fueron totalmente insultadas, escupidas y agredidas por el público trasandino durante su presentación. Esto motivó a que Kurt y la banda tomarán la drástica decisión 😡de cambiar el set list completo de su show y tocar solo lados B de sus temas en castigo a toda esa gente que insultó y trato mal a las chicas de la otra banda .. el esperado himno Smells like teen spirit que todo la gente espero jamas se tocó.. solo dio unas intro y los cortaban para salir con. Otro tema .. básicamente Nirvana entrego el peor show de su carrera en Argentina debido a la actitud del público con la banda telonera. This photo was taken one year ago at @riot_fest by my friend and drum tech @vicecooler. Honestly, I wasn’t sure I wanted to play such a big show but after talking to @kathiwilcox about it at length, I realized it was important that we play as women in music are not offered to headline festivals very often and as a feminist punk band it was even more of a unique opportunity. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this dream become a reality. As it turned out, it was one of the funnest things I’ve ever been a part of and as you can see in this picture, Kathi always has my back. Friends that push you to do things outside your personal comfort zone are so essential to being alive. I miss the feeling of being in a crowd, of being in an audience, of being on a stage. Here is an early photo of Norwegian black metal band Ragnarok, circa 1994. Hailing from the same small city (Sarpsborg) as Metalion of Slayer Mag, Ragnarok were a perfect fit for Metalion’s record label Head Not Found. Although they had become label mates with Ulver and Gehenna, it seems they never reached the cult status of those aforementioned bands. It’s to no fault of their own though, as their first three albums “Nattferd”(1995), “Arising Realm”(1997) and “Diabolical Age”(2000) are immaculate studies pure black art. Not to mention the handful of amazing album they would release in the 2000s. Thankfully their first two albums, which have been notoriously hard to obtain, were just recently reissued by @dsr_productions 🏆 - @arcanearchivist on Instagram
