“Hey Dane, you ever heard of muck boots?” I asked Dane Henry (@danehenrydigital), as I described the 30-day adventure to Siberia to try to climb a remote group of granite towers jutting out of the tundra. We both laughed as I described what was, apparently, an essential piece of equipment for this trip: seven-pound rubber galoshes. I could practically feel the blisters forming. “You think we’ll _really_ need to wear those things?” Dane asked, skeptically. “Don’t you think we can get by in regular approach shoes?” “Probably, but we’ll bring ‘em just in case,” I said. “I actually have no idea what we’re in for!” That’s what I love about adventure. EXPEDITIONSTIPP I SACHSEN-ANHALT I HARZ ᵂᴱᴿᴮᵁᴺᴳ Besonders zum Sonnenauf- und Sonnenuntergang entfalten diese alten Steine ihre Faszination. Die Teufelsmauer ist eine 20 Kilometer lange Felsformation aus Sandstein. Sie erstreckt sich von Ballenstedt über Rieder und Weddersleben bis nach Blankenburg. Die wohl bekanntesten Einzelfelsen der Harzklippen sind der Königstein (siehe Fotos), das Hamburger Wappen und der Großvaterfelsen. Um diese Sandsteinfelsen ragen sich viele Sagen und Mythen. Die Mystik dieses Ortes führte dazu, dass die Teufelsmauer bereits 1833 unter Schutz gestellt wurde. Der Königstein bei Weddersleben ist seit 1935 als Naturschutzgebiet Teufelsmauer und Bode nordöstlich Thale ausgewiesen und ist damit eins der ältesten Naturschutzgebieten Deutschlands. Seit 2009 verbindet der Teufelsmauersteig alle Felserhebungen der Teufelsmauer auf einer Länge von 35 km. Und auch der Europäische Fernwanderweg E11 verläuft entlang der Felsformation. Für die Harzer Wandernadel Sammler gibt es entlang der Felsformation drei Stempelstellen (188, 74 und 76). Und auch Kletterer kommen an den Felsen bei Blankenburg auf ihre Kosten. Auch wenn wir nicht an die Sagen und Mythen glauben, die sich um die Mauer ranken, sind wir der Faszination erlegen. Welche Naturschauspiele haben dich zuletzt staunen lassen?
