My Mamaw has been living on this Earth for 88 years now!! Phoenix stole many of our hearts this summer as we cheered her on in her recovery, and it is with broken hearts that we are mourning her sudden and untimely death. Phoenix passed away unexpectedly just after 3:00pm on Saturday, September 19th 2020. After surviving her amputation surgery and overcoming the brief infection that followed, she was finally out of immediate danger. She even moved into a tiny cabin to live with us when she first returned from her amputation surgery so we could keep a close eye on her. Once she was in stable condition she moved outside, but she still preferred human company to that of her sheep friends. Every morning she would joyfully frolic and bounce out of the barn to greet us, and then she would happily roll around the lawn in her wheelchair for most of the day. When she was small enough to sit on my lap in the car, I used to take her into town because she loved car rides. Phoenix and I used to take walks around Kingston where she would brighten people’s days with her friendly personality. Despite an incredibly difficult beginning, Phoenix was a fighter who rose up again to become a happy lamb who touched many hearts. She was a kindred spirit, constantly kindling joy and spreading it to those around her. She was our little buddy, and we will miss her. Recently we noticed she was struggling to adjust to an increased nutritional intake of grain, but we did not expect this to result in abdominal bloating that would prove fatal. The veterinarian explained that Phoenix’s condition had progressed too quickly and there was little hope of saving her. Shortly after the veterinarian arrived, Phoenix died in my arms. Phoenix has certainly taught us lessons in resilience, strength, and hope. For many of us she was a shining light during a dark and difficult year, and I feel so fortunate that I was able to care for her until the end. Without your help Phoenix would not have survived more than a week or so, but thanks to all of your support she lived here happily with us for five months. For those of you who have donated to help with her medical bills, or have been cheering for Phoenix, we thank you and we are so sorry she is gone. ❤️🐑 - @kaylifergramsby on Instagram

9.20.2020 the day we lost our baby. Emptiness. Pain. Grief. Sadness. Overwhelmed. Confused. Scared to try again. Angry. I didn’t know I could feel a pain like this. An emptiness like this. Grief like this. Loosing a baby is a pain like no other. But I am Choosing to believe God has a plan, that he knows what is happening in the big picture. That this is for a reason. That he had our baby in his hands. That our baby is with him now. That we will be parents again, and that we will forever be parents to our little baby we never got to raise. I’m choosing to believe in Him. After months and months and months of trying to get pregnant, we finally did. We got pregnant. We got our baby, and my body can do it again. We can do it again. I’m holding onto that. Loss of a baby. A pain no one can prepare you for, a pain you can never imagine going through. And when it happens, it hits you hard and out of no where, I mean who prepares for this? Physical pain, emotional pain, it’s all in one. Together. And when the physical pain leaves, the emotional pain is still there. But one day well get to hug our little baby again, we’ll always have our baby with us. And we’ll always remember our baby that made us parents. Spent some much needed time off social media to be with tay, and grieve in private. This Saturday we lost one of our Espadín family members, Steffanie Rodriguez, far too soon. Steffanie and her husband Hector have been with us for the past two years and have been a huge part of the Espadín family. Steffanie will be remembered for the brightness and positivity she brought to our kitchen. Well remember her joking with her coworkers and singing Taylor Swift and Notorious BIG at the top of her lungs. Steffanie leaves behind her husband Hector, and their two young boys. Today Josh and I have been together for 5 years, married for 3. And this weekend has already been so memorable with fun and new experiences for both of us! I knew I loved horses and flowers, and I never thought I would love fly fishing! I’m excited that Josh and I found a new activity we love doing together. Quality time with your spouse in so essential. We get so little time together alone with careers, kids, activities and even distractions in life, and we have always chosen to make the best of it all. We have overcome odds that should have defeated us. We have overcome obstacles that many would never take on buck naked while screaming into the night, “lets do this!” (That may or may not have happened 🤭) We have grown together as a couple, as a blended family, we two completely opposite people... Integration vs restriction... ⠀ How many times have you had to “get back on track?” “Start Monday”...? ⠀ I’ve been there one to many times before I learned about integration... ⠀ If you thought about what happens to a child when you tell them no they can’t have something...what do they do? They want that something more! ⠀ When you tell yourself you can’t eat certain things...what do you do? You restrict yourself from having it....then what happens? You want it more just like that little child...then when you come into contact with that food again it feels as if some energy force takes hold of and you begin annihilating all of the things you restricted and more...starting a no bueno self sabotaging cycle and a mindset of “Ill just start Monday” ⠀ I’ve been there...it made me feel powerless, out of control, like I tried everything and I was destined to be stuck where I was at for good... ⠀ Thanks to @kasheymethod I have learned the importance of integration...increased my awareness of how my body responds to different foods...identified the mental thoughts that creep into my head if I feel like acting a fool and allow myself to move past these thoughts still allowing me to put myself and goals on the forefront...I am in control of the way I look and feel and have the power to choose the actions that lead to my desired results. ⠀ I have learned how to integrate foods just like you see in the photos into my intake in a way that I get to try “all the things” and still stay on plan making progress. ⠀ The Kickstart Challenge that transformed my life starts in about two weeks! Love unapologetically........So, I need some advice. A lot of you know that my family dont agree with my relationship with Katie. In fact they flat out despise it and its coming up 2 years since Ive had any contact with my immediate family or since theyve had any contact with me (except to harass me or tell me how wrong my relationship is). Im ok with this now. Its taken a lot of growing, learning and patience to learn how to deal with the emotions that come along with circumstances like this but Im at peace with it now. Im not sure if they know about our engagement, Im sure they do and that its gotten back to them but now that were starting to get into planning things a little more ive had a few little emotions pop up recently. . We sat down to write our guest list the other day and on my list for my family side was one family member. Out of my entire immediate and extended family. 12 years ago today @rebekah.that.boy.mom asked me to meet her at Queen Sirikit Park. She said it was a really beautiful spot, lots of nature, no crowds and plenty of space. That’s not common in Bangkok where we lived at the time, so I took the long skytrain ride up to meet her. It must have taken longer than I expected because I remember already feeling 🙄 when I got there. Then she made me chase her around the park, she kept texting that it was just so pretty she couldn’t stop walking and she was just a bit further down the path. My feet hurt when I finally got to the gazebo where she promised to wait for me. As I walked up, I didn’t see her but @matt.willingham was waiting there with a whole romantic set-up. Then, right as we looked at each other, a bug flew into my eye and I stopped short, turned away and tried to rub it out. He, of course, hadn’t seen the bug and stood there holding a ring wondering what the heck was going on😅. We managed to recover the moment though, he asked me to marry him and I said yes. Then our best friends jumped out from behind the bushes and we all went out to celebrate. One of them took this picture of us on the sky train ride back. . We got married three months later over the short break the school gave us off for New Year’s ❤️ It’s been 12 years but honestly it feels like 30. We’ve been through a lot, we’ve grown and we’ve changed and though I can’t say I’d do it all again, I wouldn’t choose to do it with anybody else.
