El libro de Jane Austen de 1815 que ya se ha recreado un par de veces en el cine tiene una nueva reinterpretación y en lo personal la verdad es que me gustó mucho. 🔸Sátira social, intriga romántica y políticas de género son los términos que podemos usar para describir al libro del siglo XIX que ha copado hasta los clásicos cinematográficos modernos (Clueless, dirigida por Amy Heckerling). 💅🏼Emma Woodhouse es linda, inteligente y rica, tiene 20 años y es hija de un padre viudo y cariñoso. Lo cierto es que Emma no vivió nada demasiado complicado y tampoco tiene responsabilidades, así que se divierte haciendo de cupido y manipulando las relaciones de quienes la rodean. 🥴Un buen día llega Harriet a la vida de Emma. Una chica humilde comparada con ella que además es bastante inocente. Nuestra protagonista se esmera en conseguirle pareja y medio que termina armando un enredo dónde falla bastante la comunicación. ♥️Vemos de entrada qué pasa con su ~interés romántico~ (Knightley, su tutor): hay diferencia de edad que no molesta por cómo hicieron al personaje de Knightley y una dinámica de poder desigual, disparidades recurrentes en el mundo de Austen. Si bien hay un amor patriarcal, la interpretación de la directora nos ofrece un vínculo más igualitario, en dónde las lecciones que él pretende darle a ella vienen más desde el corazón que desde la moralidad. ✨Está muy bien adaptada y nos saltea todo lo que no tenemos ganas de escuchar en el 2020. Todo en pos de reforzar que la historia pasa por Emma, por la complejidad de su personaje, por su floreciente mundo interior y por su búsqueda de sí misma. La estética es hermosa y nos hace acordar un poco a María Antonieta, de Coppola, con esos colores y esos vestuarios que AMO. Story time!! In Miracle Nikki, I found an active association that was working hard to have all the co-op suits completed. We were so close to finishing the True Shot, but I was kicked right before we finished and in the end I was unable to complete it. At this point I had two options: 1) rage at them for kicking me, 2) try again with another guild. I went with the latter. There’s no point getting mad at something that already happened and you have no control over. It won’t change anything. Yeah, it sucked to be kicked, but it is what it is and I had to accept it. After much guild hopping, I was able to find a new association with majority of the co-op suits completed. I reach 500 activity with them tomorrow. @emvme here, to finish us off this week! What is the story of Hansel and Gretel without the gingerbread house! Our director, @shannon_ashlyn , when we first spoke about the story, asked how would you imagine a gingerbread house if it was built in reality? The house became an run down, forgotten cottage that would transform into our ‘gingerbread house’ with a simple touch of magic, and our red candy running through. The facade of the cottage, was built with the idea of a gingerbread-like surface, this was transported to location in Batlow, in Sugar pines forest. It was an incredible journey, and wonderful to be able to design. Sweet tooth was a film created by a dedicated team, whom helped create a realistic fairy tale world, that included the construction of props, an interior set build, External set build and working on location, both on a heritage listed sight and Sugar pines forest in Batlow. It is their contribution to this vision that enabled the World of Sweet Tooth to be created with such beauty and pride. I wish to once again thank each and every one. And thank you to the APDG for having us this week to share our wonderful little film. You’ve been on my mind...💖 Thought it might be a good time to share more about us, for a while, Mondays are random Muses & musings... little snippets of history, a peek behind the scenes, what inspires the forever unfolding question: Who is Fair Portia? Act 1 scene 1: The onion and the octopus Texture & Light This octopus was the only thing I wanted to bring home from Disney World when it first opened. I was 8. (& yes that was almost 50 years ago) #1 Fair Portia is ageless I’ve been in love with beautiful glass since I was 4 years old. If I went missing, my mom always knew she could find me under the dining room table staring up at our chandelier. I was making my grammy’s tomato sauce recipe yesterday and only had one tired yellow onion left. As soon as I peeled the first 2 layers it revealed its gorgeousness. Texture is my second love. The play of light, the sheen, silkiness, tutte!! Often in Fair Portia jewels we mix 2 or more qualities, translucent with opaque, for instance that creates beautiful depth & is one of our signatures. Series: 27 DRESSES Padmaavat (2018): Budget - A portrait of grandeur and royalty by Sanjay Leela Bansali which is considered to be one of the most expensive films of Bollywood. Designers- Delhi based designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula brought Queen Padmavati to life. They are also known to have worked with several royal families of Jaipur, Baroda and Rampur. The jewellery pieces in the movie were picked from Tanishq. Inspiration- The costumes in the movie of all the characters add a narrative to the film. From Rajput embellishments or embroideries for Padmavati and Rawal Ratan Singh to the Afghani and Turkish boldness for Khilji and Mehrunisa, everything in the movie was the ultimate definition of grandeur. Most of Deepika’s ghagras, kanchalis and odhnis in the movie were designed from natural dyes of indigo, pomegranate and rose to achieve the natural hues. . . .
