Traintracks Profile Pics

Have you ever noticed that Wynyard station’s platform numbers start at number 3? Why do you think that is? What happened to platforms 1 and 2? This photo helps explain the mystery of the missing platforms. Sitting immediately west of platforms 3 and 4 sit these high arched tunnels which today form a part of an underground car park. Trams used to pass through these tunnels and into the original Wynyard platforms 1 and 2. The platforms ran north to south and serviced the North Shore line. They were built as a part of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and City Underground development. Originally the bridge was designed to carry 4 train lines, but as the bridge was built the designs were changed to include a tram line instead. I believe the tram line ran along the lane closest to the Opera House before it was converted for road traffic. The trams would pass over the bridge towards the city then into a tunnel beside Cumberland Street and through to Wynyard. Construction began on the tunnels in 1931 and was completed the following year. Trams would continue running through these tunnels until 1958, at which time the Sydney Tram network was being dismantled and replaced with buses. It’s said that this was the only underground portion of the entire Sydney tram network. In the 60s the tunnels and platform areas were converted to an underground car park to service the hotel above. Recently, as part of the redevelopment of Wynyard station, a stairwell was uncovered which led up to the old platforms. I understand this was during the construction of the new tunnel leading to the Barangaroo Precinct. Another little piece of trivia involving the tunnels. Rumour has it that the Police used one of the tunnels as a pistol firing range for a period of time. Christmas Eve 2013. Adam’s Peak, Central Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰 . En route to begin the pilgrimage of Adam’s Peak. The Sri Prada, sacred footprint which represents the footprint of Buddha, is at the base of the peak and the beginning of the climb up the 2,243m high mountain. Hundreds of pilgrims and tourists alike ascended up the winding trail of varying stair styles to witness the dramatic sunrise. As rewarding as the traditionally cladded journey up was, the way down was far more memorable. I remember that after controlling our shaking lactic acid filled muscles, none of us could walk again for 3 days. . It was attempting to board this overly packed train that @mrwhittle threw a childlike tantrum refusing to get on. As the train began to depart I threw all the bags on the train and forced the group onto the train. Once we all settled down in the corridor, we took turns hanging out the open train door. As casual as Sunday morning Tom turned to me and stated very matter-of-factly “quite nice actually”, a common phrase you’ll hear me say often. What I learned from the Chloe Ting 28 Day Challenge 🦋✨💫 The pics are spanning between June 10 to now. Context: before this challenge I completed mostly ab/butt workouts a couple days a week. This is the first time I consistently did 30-60 minutes of targeted core/legs/arms/HIIT in addition to 10,000 steps of cardio. Here are my key takeaways 1. it’ll look really good, but then you’ll eat a meal and you look ~normal~ again 2. if you’re a results oriented person, be careful not to become upset with yourself. Bloating happens to everyone. You’ll have good and bad days, but if you keep working at it, you’ll be in better shape OVERALL 3. EATING IS NUMBER 1!! It doesn’t matter how many workouts you do. If you’re still eating poorly it’ll be very tough to see results. 4. Consistency is key. Before this challenge I’d done workouts before and gotten some definition. Keeping at it for the whole month helped me become more toned in general, so I could really see myself working toward more lasting muscle definition 5. I don’t recommend Chloe Ting. If you’re looking for toning workouts, there are wayyyy better videos that I can send you! Chloe puts together a lot of random movements that probably burn more calories (?) at the cost of working that muscle group more effectively. 6. I think overall I’m stronger, but I wouldn’t say Chloe Ting workouts are any better than any other fitness influencer. I definitely think they’re overrated. Journey To Nowhere 🚂 . . Earlier this year, once it was nice enough outside to bike, I started to explore this new area @christinaspicer and I had just moved to. I didn’t find too much to be honest, and right as I was about to turn back I rode past this railway that appeared to be endless. It was dark after sunset and it seemed like the tracks just disappeared into a fog that I hadn’t previously seen. I stood there for a few minutes before I got a chill and rode off. I’ve been back a few times but it definitely isn’t as creepy as it appeared that first night. Bei anderen werden wir gar nicht merken, dass sie ausgestiegen sind. Es ist eine Reise voller Freuden, Leid, Begrüßungen und Abschied. Die Herausforderung besteht darin: Zu jedem eine gute Beziehung zu haben. Das große Rätsel ist: Wir wissen nie an welcher Haltestelle wir aussteigen müssen. Deshalb müssen wir leben, lieben, verzeihen und immer das Beste geben! Denn, wenn der Moment gekommen ist, wo wir aussteigen müssen und unser Platz leer ist, sollen nur schöne Gedanken an uns bleiben und für immer im Zug des Lebens weiter reisen. Birkhill Fireclay Mine, near Falkirk, was once a source of bricks which lined the industrial furnaces of Central #Scotland. Later used a visitor attraction, where guests could enter into the old mine workings to see how it once operated, it now lies closed and abandoned with a only a few features remaining including this narrow gauge railway line. I believe this was once used to haul the produce out from the mine and up the rather steep valley sides to the main buildings at the top of the Avon Gorge. I low key felt like I was going to die after making it to the top of this roller coaster. Knowing it was a stupid idea and in plain view we saved it for right before our departure.
