This weekend, we witnessed a woman getting her new iPhone stolen in cycle-by incident in a sunny morning in London. What can you do when this happens to you? Find a way to report it as soon as possible. In this case, we were able hand our phone to help to call the police and report the incident. Applying to business travel, leisure travel and your daily commute, make sure your phone is backed up and insured. If possible, try to use the “Find my iPhone” feature on a trusted device as soon as possible. It may be that they have already turned your phone off and taken the card out and it is not possible to locate it. When giving evidence to the police, they will ask you to describe the perpetrator. Be aware that during these times, perpetrator may be wearing a mask and a hoodie, making it nearly impossible remember any facial features. Run-by incidents usually happen very quickly and can leave you in a state of shock, it is not unusual that you are not able to recall many exact details. The police will be giving you a crime reference number, they will do their best to help, checking also if there was any CCTV in the area. What can you do as a by-stander? If you see that someone is in a distress and just had their phone stolen, you can help to call the police and help with any details if you witnessed the incident. You can also help to sign into “Find my iPhone” feature on iCloud via your device and see if they are able to locate their phone. You may have spotted our Full Package Bins at your local Allpress cafe. We’ve teamed up to raise awareness around compostable packaging through using the Full Package Bins, and in sharing the same belief that compostable packaging is the only true fully-circular waste steam.😊 Allpress recently went fully compostable with their packaging: “Going fully compostable with our packaging means all our waste including coffee grinds, food scraps, takeaway cups and coffee bags can all be placed in the same bin and sent to our composting partners and converted to soil for growing more food. A truly circular system.“ Whether you’re a regular at Allpress, or pumping through the kilos of beans, you can return any of their packaging to your nearest Allpress store for disposal in one of these bins, they are outside their cafes and they have green bags behind the counter if you need, just let them know. The amazing team at First Mile then collect this and take it to their composting facility. El sábado, mientras deambulaba sin rumbo por Palermo Soho, conocí a dos rusos. Sí, la imagen hoy en día resulta bastante extraña (tanto Renato como Andrei se encuentran varados en nuestro país, al que arribaron antes de marzo). Luego de preguntarme cuáles eran los mejores grafittis de la zona para sacarles fotos, comenzamos a charlar y terminamos recorriendo el barrio juntos. En un determinado momento e intempestivamente, uno de ellos me pidió que defina a los argentinos en tres palabras… el interrogante me pareció bastante sencillo de responder. ¡Pasión! Vociferé casi al instante. Las restantes palabras fueron resiliencia y perseverancia ⁣ Que somos apasionados no es una novedad, tampoco lo es nuestra capacidad de sobreponernos a momentos críticos y adaptarnos, seguir luchando y “remándola”. ⁣ El endurecimiento del cepo al dólar es inminente. Al 30% de impuesto PAIS se suma otro 35%. Asimismo, todos los consumos que hagamos en USD se descontarán del cupo mensual de compra de 200. Para la gran mayoría que ahorra todo el año para darse un gustito y espera esos anhelados 15 días de vacaciones, la medida es muy dolorosa. La decisión también lastima a quienes sueñan con una mudanza, con un auto, o con ahorrar. ⁣ Si nos centramos en el plano económico, es real que la fuga de divisas es un severo problema que nos aqueja. Ahora bien, hay cosas que no entiendo ni jamás entenderé. Hay algo que si comprendo y de lo que estoy plenamente segura: vamos a encontrarle la vuelta. Porque el argentino es resiliente y perseverante, se amolda y siempre se las ingenia para salir adelante.⁣ Serán menos días, será más cerca, será haciendo couchsurfing o un voluntariado, pero será. This has been a hard decision to make, and we have decided to make our move. Our long term plans and goals have always included being closer to where affordable food grows in abundance, and where we have more space to work with fewer restrictions. Despite having feelings of failure, failing ourselves and our community, we mostly have an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. Gratitude to the first people who welcomed me to this community as an individual ten years ago, and continued to welcome Tali and I as a family and business. Gratitude to our business neighbors, who have never hesitated to lend a hand or an ear. Gratitude to our patrons, those who are born-and-raised in Brooklyn and those who graciously move through their new neighborhood. And the utmost gratitude to our chosen family and mentors, you make it hard to leave. But, this is mostly ‘see you later’, so don’t trip too hard. Another two adorable street cats from Istanbul have now been officially welcomed in Austria for a chance to find forever homes. Boncuk (orange and white) joined the Help Street Cats and Dogs family as a kitten. He was in the street and had a severe eye infection. He has been staying with his super foster family who have taken excellent care and love him dearly. AJ (grey and white) was attacked by dogs in the street when he was kitten. A kind lady took him off the street and reached out to us for help for treatment. He’s been at a boarding facility and can’t wait to have a chance to find a forever home. As ever, always so grateful to everyone who has been part of Boncuk and AJ’s rescue operation. 💜Sinan and his mum Neriman took Boncuk off the street and nursed him to good health. They are both in love with Boncuk and it was so hard for them to let go of him. He has been spoiled so much. 💜Esra for taking AJ off the street when he was attacked by dogs and organising his leg operation. 💜Meral for boarding AJ and preparing both AJ Boncuk for their flight. 💜Didem for being their flight volunteer. She’s been so great and easy to work with 💜Stacey for contributing towards AJ’s ongoing care and flight 💜Astrid for agreeing to take the cats and find suitable homes in Austria. 💜Thank you to all those who have donated for their flight costs. From my project “Resilience in the time of COVID,” a body of work about women and the hidden burdens of the Coronavirus. Pilar, 39, holds her daughter Yasmeena who was born at 24 weeks and is considered high-risk for COVID complications due to her delicate respiratory system. Yasmeena is a twin whose brother died shortly after birth. Among the many things Pilar struggles with as a mother raising her child in the midst of a pandemic is reliving the trauma of losing her son when she watches Yasmeena play alone. “I just look at her and think about all the other kids who have siblings to play with and Yasmeena has no one. She should be playing with her brother now.” This is an ongoing documentary photography project about women in my local community. Im pretty blown away at the amount of love, encouragement, and support Ive gotten over the past weeks after preparing this next stage of my life in leaving to Central America, and Ive learned a lot about grace, especially after throwing this fundraiser evening. I dont know how to express thankfulness to people who bless me so much with all sorts of different kinds of love and support, when I feel like I have nothing to give back. Il protagonista del nostro festival è stato BAL8 (Balotto), il primo arredo urbano che nasce da ciò che noi comunemente chiamiamo “rifiuto” e si trasforma nel set minimo indispensabile dello stare insieme: 2 sedute e un tavolino. Ispirato alla geometria delle mura storiche che racchiudevano la Bologna medioevale a pianta esagonale e all’economia circolare, BAL8 è un set di 3 oggetti, pensato per portare momenti di socialità ed inserirsi in quegli spazi della città che si sono rivelati fragili e carenti di elementi di qualità. Il nome deriva dallo slang Bolognese “Balotta” ossia “compagnia”, “stare insieme”, “insieme di amici” che viene abbinato al numero “8” ad indicare il ciclo chiuso dei materiali e il simbolo dell’infinito. Elle apporte aussi des produits d’hygiène plus nécessaires encore en cette période de pandémie. Lassociation a lancé un appel aux dons pour répondre à ces besoins accrus et vous pouvez participer ! Un samedi sur deux, La Chorba effectue une distribution de colis alimentaires à destination des familles dans le besoin. Ils contiennent de la nourriture et des produits pour les bébés.
