Today’s GPP Work - Sled Drag - 10x100ft w/210lbs (around 85-90% of Bodyweight) + 25lbs Vest. Performed five sets walking Forward, five sets walking Backwards. Used a belt. — What is the goal of GPP work? — Well, as we find in “The Fundamentals of Special Strength Training in Sport” by Yuri Verkhoshansky and “Supertraining” by Mel Siff, GPP has several jobs and achieves several tasks... — 1.) To form, strengthen or restore motor skills, which play an auxiliary, facilatory role in perfecting sports ability. — 2.) To teach abilities developed insufficiently by the given sport; increase the general work capacity or preserve it. — 3.) To provide active rest, promote restoration after strenuous loading, and counteract the monotony of training. — Utilizing the Sled puts us in advantageous position to develop the Glutes, Erectors, Hamstrings, and Abdominals in a low stress, low skill environment. The HIGH Story: When Amber Met Emily Six years ago High Fitness was born but that idea would not have been conceived without our founders Amber Zenith and Emily Nelson. The two met at a boutique gym where they both worked and were fitness instructors. Emily thriving as a group fitness instructor convinced Amber (a total non-dancer) to teach dance fitness. Reluctantly Amber did and loved but in order to do the moves she would simplify Emily’s routines. People loved this way of teaching and Amber knew they needed to start their own fitness format using these methods. With a mix of dance, fitness, aerobics and the effectiveness of a high intensity workout, they joined forces and created what we know as High Fitness.
