This may not mean much to most people, but to my Captain/Friend Brown and I, it was our life at stake. Last Friday(6/26/20) at about 4:30pm we took off from Haiti headed back to Miami. We were happy because it was normal Friday and the weekend was about to start and then it happened. Climbing out of 9,000 feet just passing over the mountains of Haiti our right engine completely shut off on us. I’m not going to go into details because many may not completely understand. After quickly assessing the situation and two attempts to restart the right engine, we decided to completely shut down the engine, declared an emergency and decided to go back to Haiti...There is so much I could say but I’d really just like to thank God. Mugello I have some lag in the game while battle with Davide and his bike push me off to grass, luckily I didnt crash and managed to finish 9th. Jerez especially very bad, I lose focus at the start and crash in Turn 1, then I never get back to my rhythm after that. I was running 10th on last lap before I got problem with my PC and got disconnected when the race is already 95%+ completed. Forced me to salvage last place 11th. __________ I got some very bad luck for this first 2 races, unfortunately these things happen both in real race and in esport. Sweetwater was definitely a test. Two flats on one of the steepest descent of the day. One was a major blowout, causing me to grind away my rim and shred my tire. (But kept all my skin.) Didn’t realize my tire was shredded after pumping it back up and half a mile down the road another flat, this time the tire stayed on. Thankfully for a velofix dude in the course I was able to buy a new tire mid race and get back to it. It was a lot to go thru and I wasn’t very confident in my self or my bike after that so I took the short route but boy is Sonoma county beautiful. Luckily @lwood_sf was mental enough to go out the next day with me and do the fort Ross climb and Meyers grade to Russian gulch. He even lent me a front wheel! Thanks Nathan and Danika for hosting us and letting us in on pizza night! Can’t wait to see what else NorCal has to offer. - @not_a_basketball_player on Instagram

Corals, akin to any other animal, become susceptible to disease, but this stony coral tissue loss disease has become very unique in terms of range, duration, and deadliness. The disease is most likely caused by bacteria and can be transmitted to other corals through direct contact and water circulation. Nearly half of the stony coral species from the Florida Reef have been affected and the mortality rate of the disease is 66 to 100%. TEAM SPRINT GOAL SMASHED 💣💥 . What a great Day 2 of racing. Team sprint partner @baronessvb7 and I had one major goal for this first round of the QUEENSLAND TRACK SERIES..... to try and beat the State championship record of 39.814s....we hit a time of 39.592s so to say we are pretty happy is an understatement (Note: state championship record can only be officially recorded at the state championships) . I am also using this track series to test gearing for the State Championships in December. Coach Michael has changed my gearing and we are getting some really good data . I was unsure of how I would go given the current virus climate and how it has impacted my work, and hence, my training these last 7 months. I am pretty sure my coaches believed in me more than I did, but I am grateful to both of them for their commitment to me as their athlete: 🔹️ Coach Michael for adjusting and making some creative changes to my training keeping in mind all of my work commitments being over the top during this time 🔹️Coach Blayze for putting up with seeing me so much and designing all of the strength work we have done that, as Michael says, has proven to be invaluable and on point given the data we are receiving after these last two days of racing. And also, more recently, for the advice on getting myself grounded during race meets. Improvements are still to be made in this area but it is early days . The next mission!! At the end of July I was meant to be doing a 555km event in India - @laultra555, but sadly, COVID-19 put a stop to that! Sooooo, as a replacement and extending on last years challenge of running to and up all 57 volcanos of Auckland in one run (30ish hours to run 200ish kms), Im running a Circumnavigation of Auckland! https://www.plotaroute.com/route/909808?units=km This will be around 320km and Im hoping to get it done in under 48hrs but not stressing too much about the time as its more of an explore - exploring Auckland (Im trying to use as many trails, parks, coastal paths etc as possible) and exploring how far I can go! This will be the furthest Ive run distance wise, but well within the longest time frame Ive run before. Its my last long run before the 2020 @riverheadbackyardrelaps ultra last person standing event in August - ha! Ive created this event (on Facebook page - refer link in bio) to share the route, timing, tracking link etc so people can come and join me if they want, or just follow along from the couch. As Hurricane Isaias draws closer to the U.S. mainland, USGS coastal change experts predict that wind-driven waves are very likely to cause some erosion at the base of the dunes along about 11 percent of Atlantic Coast sandy beaches between Florida and Virginia. The most extensive effects are predicted in Georgia, where 23 percent of sandy coastal beaches are very likely to be eroded by storm waves. However, only one percent of the region’s beaches are predicted to be overtopped by storm waves and none are predicted to be inundated, or completely submerged. This prediction can help local emergency management officials make decisions about which areas to evacuate, where and when to close coastal roads, and where to position clean-up equipment in advance of the storm. ▫️ The prediction is based on the USGS Coastal Change Forecast model, which has been in use since 2011 and is continually being improved. The model starts with inputs from the National Hurricane Center’s storm surge predictions and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wave forecast models. The USGS model adds detailed information about the forecast region’s beach slope and dune height to produce its predictions. A map of the coastal change forecasts for Hurricane Isaias is at http://ow.ly/K5zu50AOdDC. The maps have three strips, side by side. The strip closest to the coast shows the likelihood of erosion at the base of the dunes. The middle strip shows the likelihood of dune overwash, and the outer (seaward) strip is the likelihood of the most serious impact, inundation.
