Astronomers may have found a signature of life on Venus 👨‍🚀👩‍🚀 Evidence indicates phosphine, a gas associated with living organisms, is present in the habitable region of Venus’ atmosphere. This does not mean that we will discover life SOON considering that methane has been discovered on Mars also back in 2003 and we have yet to discover some form of life there. Another good candidate is Saturns moon - Titan. There has also been found giant amounts of methane lakes. It is thought that there may be creatures living in these lakes which would take in hydrogen instead of oxygen and release methane instead of carbon dioxide. 🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕 In what can only be described as one of the best moments in my life, I witnessed a stunning flourish of nature when @victorandres.nyc and I took an overnight, 14-hour roadtrip from upstate New York to Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The weather, according to DarkSky.net, would be some of the clearest cloud cover in the world at the time, at as low as 1%--meaning 99% of the sky would be visible. We were excited. The moon was close enough on this instance to create a spectacular total solar eclipse from both oceans west and east, with the shadow streaking from Oregon all the way to South Carolina, whose partial eclipse could be witnessed from 5 continents. And if you were standing anywhere in the U.S., you probably saw as much light as you would see if you were seeing the sun from a normal day on Mars, or if you were near totality, as far away as Pluto, at 3.67 BILLION miles from the sun. Exhausted from the trip, I toiled to bring the camera to the right spot, one in which all the cycle of the 2+-hour eclipse would be visible from my 600mm Sigma lens mounted on a Sony a7S. But while much of the day was a technically and mentally rigorous to perfect, the moment of totality will live with me forever as among the most awe-inspiring, humbling and perception-shifting moments of my life. The hot, beating sun (It was 88 degrees Fahrenheit in The Smoky Mountains) suddenly ceased to show itself, and the cheers and cries that the several thousand people around us voiced will be seen as one of the most fascinating examples of joy and elation I may ever hear. What you see above is exactly what we saw. Hey yall. I must apologize to all of you, my friends for my unexplained absence over the past few months. When I became more active on IG last year I had no idea what life had in store for me. Over the span of 8 weeks beginning in April, my grandmother unexpectedly passed away, I watched my mother lose her 3-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, and my wife and I lost what would have been our first child. As an only child, and grandchild this meant that I lost 2/3 of my living family in just two months. I just had to check out for a while and re-evaluate life or risk losing my sanity for good. Thanks to all of you who stuck around here and to those who supported me through this time. Ive been easing back into work, and started on August 21st, when the total solar eclipse passed over my back yard, on what would have been moms 65th birthday. - I have a 8” dobsonian and I am currently unable to see any surface detail on Jupiter. Any one know what to do. Or can you only see it through image staking and stuff.

- Heres a Nikon dSLR shot @ 600mm (cropped) from todays Mercury transit, captured about an hour into it. That little dot on the lower left is Mercury, 62.8 million miles away, passing between Earth and the Sun. The next time this will be visible from my location is May 7, 2049.
