Tentamos que ela interagisse com os filhotes que abrigamos aqui em casa, e foi só babado, confusão e gritaria. Acontece que chegou uma nova ninhada pra gente cuidar, e junto veio essa coisa peluda. Não deu jeito de resistir dessa vez. Conversamos com um adestrador muito bacana, que vai nos ajudar na socialização dos dois desde o começo, e também já acendemos velas pra todos os santos pedindo uma ajuda divina. For the majority of us, Instagram is a highlight reel of our lives to share our best moments and glam shots with others but here I’m going to share with you a story of genuine truth... it may not be the prototypical beautiful IG post but nonetheless, it is still a beautiful one. • For the last 2 years I gave up on life. I didn’t care about a damn thing and had lost meaning to life. I wasn’t suicidal but I just didn’t care to live anymore. I’m sure some of you reading this know the feeling is harder to express in words... There was just no vigor or zest to life, nor was I finding any enjoyment in life. My love for life had disappeared and even with all the adventures and traveling, melancholy followed me with every step I’d take. • Then this little guy came into my life and we imprinted on one another. We connected and this special yet unexpected bond started to form and I started to feel again... to fall back in love with life again. • From the very start, it was a challenge to keep him healthy, from dealing with failing to thrive, fading kitten syndrome, respiratory infections, conjunctivitis and constipation etc.. we never seemed to catch a break, but we battled onward. We would have some good days followed by some very bad days. I nursed him around the clock, gave him all the TLC, cuddles and would sing ‘In the Jungle the Mighty Jungle’ every night to lull him to sleep. He never left my side, I carried him everywhere I went. I wasn’t going to give up on him. He has the heart of a lion 🦁 and the courage/will to fight for his life. • 5 weeks ago, I thought I was going to say goodbye to him... he had developed sepsis and his limbs were so swollen that he couldn’t walk. I brought him into the vet, and at the end of they day they called and said I had better come say goodbye to him. My incredibly hardworking rescue partner (and best friend) @the_crazy_cat_fam entrusted me today to wrap the legs of these little babies struggling with swimmer’s syndrome! And despite losing the medical tape and needing to go buy more, I think we killed it. Swimmer’s syndrome is a condition where the body grows and gains weight too quickly for the muscles of the hind limbs to keep up, so they splay out to the side as if the kitten is “swimming” like a frog. Farhana @the_crazy_cat_fam ended up with these kittens because she says Yes as much as possible. And literally more than anyone I know. While we both respect our boundaries and honor the importance of saying No when we need to, Farhana is an effective, collected, human being who brings together so many people to make large scale rescue work. Maybe I’m biased because we’re also friends, and yet I simply need to brag about her. Introducing the newest member of the O’Neill family: “Biscuit” Top three favorite things- 1) playing fetch with a crumpled up ball of paper 2) her miniature stuffed bunny 3) all the toes- all the time, your feet will never be safe 🙈 . . Even though it’s been tough being away from the bar for so long I had the joyful opportunity to foster a litter of four kittens. I adopted out the other three to lovely homes but this little Biscuit just took my heart. ❤️ . . My older cat NoNo (the large white cat with black markings) was a little apprehensive at first- he previously had another live in kitty but she passed away last September. Kitten birthday! 2 years ago today our Peanut has babies on Wolfie’s bed, and our little runty Fizzgig has to be retrieved via caesarean because he was stuck in the birth canal. It took hours to get him to latch and feed for the first time, and he lost half his tail during the extraction. Luckily he isn’t as brain damaged as the vets feared...look at him now.
