Was quite hesitant in doing this when he asked me nak tak nak? because dancing to a malay song is never my forte. I decided to jump onto this track when I understood the meaning and intention of the song. Long story short, the song and @farizjabba words moved me, and this video came about. . . Art is an intimate relationship that only you have and you can never ever let people touch that. - @farizjabba I believe that I had sat in this conversation with him and shared our own views as to why we took our own form of art and how it heals us. In conclusion, we love what we do and doing that makes us feel more of a human. . . Theres so much to this song itself if you were to read and understand its lyrics. When creating this piece with @nfj15 , I often question myself, what is the intention in this choreography? Why am I doing this? What should I feel about this? So many questions were raised in my mind. I only had one clear goal. That was to find peace within myself. For years, my dad posted all my college newspaper clippings on the bulletin board at church. At least thats what several people told me at his funeral last summer. At lot of that time period is a blur, but I clearly remember those words from some of the people whose lives he touched. There arent a whole lot of publications that still print physical newspapers and I was honestly pleasantly surprised that @laweekly still did. Theres something special about holding a newspaper in your hands. From the smell of it, to the feel of it— its like the difference between listening to an mp3 and a vinyl record. Even if I never write another story again, my words will still forever live on those pages. I broke down when I found out Id have a story in the paper and then again when I found out itd be the cover story. Then to really hammer it home, my colleague messaged me that day to remind me I was covering one of the most critical times in our countrys history, on my first week there. No pressure. Ive written stories of struggle, triumph, sorrow, happiness and everything in between. Most will be forgotten, but some of them will have impacted people in some way. If theres a couple things I always wanted to imitate from my dad, it was his ability to impact peoples lives and being genuinely good to them without the expectation of anything in return. I hadnt gone to visit my dad since he passed. I just wasnt ready, but I knew where I was going as soon as I got my hands on a copy of that issue. It might not go up on a bulletin board, but I know itll go up to the heavens and hell be just as excited for this one as he was for all my other stories. - @izzy_serious on Instagram
