In honor of @SLCCWhistlers new exhibit Sqātsza7 Tmicw – Father Land, we are showcasing some of Ed Archie NoiseCats featured pieces in the exhibit. This steel silhouette is named Salmon King as it shows the Bear and the Salmon with a Bentwood Box. The Bear is the protector of the Forest and is holding an extremely invaluable resource on the Pacific Northwest - the Salmon. Salmon is the primary food source for coastal Indigenous peoples and is considered a symbol of perseverance, wealth, and providing for your family. It was also a symbol of abundance because of how plentiful the Salmon were but this is no longer the case in recent years as they have been severely depleted from changes in the environment, pollution, and overfishing. Salmon King is a reminder of how important our precious resources are such as the forest, the water, and the animals. The bentwood box is a symbol of things we cherish in life. This steel hand-painted piece created by @EdArchieNoiseCat in 2016 is on display in Gallery 3 and is available for purchase. His journals were filled with sketches, one of which Tiki tOny turned into this hauntingly beautiful tiki mug. Tiki gardens mug release Wednesday, August 5th 6 PM Pacific standard time. Eekumbookum.com. As you guys know, Janet and I moved to Florida about 2 1/2 years ago. There is a rich history of Tiki in Florida and as a tiki mug maker I wanted to start paying tribute to that history. This is our first offering in the Florida Tiki mug Heritage that we’ve been working on. And we have teamed up with our friend Doug Horne who made beautiful prints of both of the Tiki’s featured on this mug. Tiki Gardens was a Polynesian gardens and restaurant in Indian Shores Florida, just a few miles from our house. It opened in 1964 it was closed in the 80s at which time it fell into disrepair ultimately and was sold to pinellas county. And of course they tore down paradise and put up a parking lot for the beach. The front of the mug features a 10 foot Tiki named Kahona, the water God, which stood at the garden’s entrance. It featured a fire pit in the mouth and torches they would light every night. The back features another of their monumental Tiki’s which they called Lono supreme God. We’ve added shells and gemstone eyes on these tikis and the sides of the mug feature peacocks from the gardens. - @mulder142 on Instagram

A major part of Paddle The Pointe will be contributing to @chasinadreamfoundation (chasinadream.org) and helping local children battling cancer, cystic fibrosis, heart disease and other life threatening illnesses and disabilities. This is Miles who is a Cystic Fibrosis warrior and for these children, being around the salt air is medicine for their fragile lungs. Simple, approachable compared to most Tiki recipes yet complex with an ever evolving flavor There is just enough seltzer to give this a fresh, crisp feel yet to not dilute the drink to simply alcoholic soda.
