A nivel nacional llevamos 2 puñaladas seguidas: La salvaje imagen que de nosotros dan algunas televisiones con desgracias como el accidente del Rally Alto Tamego, y ayer con la anulación del Princesa por parte de unas autoridades que se han pensado que prohibir un rally es algo tan sencillo y de las mismas consecuencias que anular un partido de baloncesto en el patio de un colegio. Volveré a correr el Princesa, y volveré a luchar por la victoria, de eso podéis estar más que seguros. Y el trofeo quizá me lo entregue alguno de los gestores que de momento han anulado el rally en el último minuto faltando el respeto a organizadores, público, periodistas, pilotos, copilotos y mecánicos. the tiananmen square massacre or the june 4th incident (六四事件) happened 31 years ago today. trigged by the death of general secretary of the communist party, hu yaobang on april 15th, 1989 - thousands of students gathered at the square to mourn and hu became a symbol of reform; calling for accountability, freedom of press/speech, democracy. what started as a peaceful protest, led to a hunger strike which gathered momentum for the cause by mid-may. on may 20th, the chinese gov’t declared martial law and mobilized as many as 300,000 troops to beijing. on june 1st, li peng aka ’butcher of beijing’ issued a report persuading the politburo the need to clear the square labelling the protestors as ‘terrorists and counterrevolutionaries’. this report was the justification the party needed to take military action. early on june 4th, the troops descended onto the square still occupied by 100,000 demonstrators - the exact number of deaths is unknown with the party claiming 300 but other sources quoting closer to 2,000-3,000. the gov’t has since wiped and censored all information related to the protests; banning films, books, shutting down newspapers. in march 1990, trump was interviewed by playboy: ”When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak...as being spit on by the rest of the world. hong kong has held large candlelight vigils every year since 1989 to remember the loss of lives and ideals. 消失的永夜之城｜「三不管」的九龍寨城 九龍寨城曾見證香港過百年歷史發展，期間被稱為「三不管」地區，然而隨着清拆工程，九龍寨城現已不復存在，成為一段逐漸被遺忘的香港回憶。這座永夜之城，故名思義，位於英殖香港的九龍城區。回顧在1898年簽署的《中英展拓香港界址專條》中，大英帝國讓滿清政府繼續駐兵管轄九龍城寨，有着今天領事館的地位，亦是當時清朝官員辦公之地。 所謂的「三不管」，其實意指中國不管、英國不管、香港不管。九龍寨城之所以被賦予這個特殊稱號，是由於二戰結束後大量露宿者開始在城寨聚居，後來的國共內戰亦導致大批難民湧入城寨，導致城寨人口急劇上升。受制於先前簽訂的中英條約條款，當時的港英政府和皇家香港警察因而無權踏足城寨半步，而新中國政府拒絕管理城寨事務，最終使逐漸成為三不管的罪惡溫床。 當時三不管的九龍寨城，絕對是一處藏污納垢之地，圍城內妓院、賭場、鴉片煙館無一不缺，黃賭毒更是猖獗一時，是大毒梟的最佳藏身之處。此外，非法衞生情況極之嚴重，當中有不少未經註冊的非法診所，吸引許多未成年少女前去進行非法墮胎。在七八十年代，多部電視均以九龍寨城這個惡名昭彰的罪惡之都作為題材，例如麥當雄的《省港旗兵》、杜琪峰的《龍城歲月》、錢小豪的《城寨出來者》等著名經典港產片。 隨着時代的推進與變遷，九龍寨城終在1993年遭夷為平地。現在我們所看見的九龍城寨公園，地址正正是城寨的前身。無庸置疑，城寨予人感覺一般，是黑暗、色情、暴力、血腥、罪惡。然而九龍城寨這座大型老舊圍城，見證香港百年歷史，城寨的清拆同時象徵時代的進步。縱然九龍寨城已經徹底消失在香港的地圖上，然而它為我們帶來的種種記憶和歷史，每位香港人都應該牢牢謹記在心中。 Follow us @ellemenhk #ellemenhk #ellemendailyglow #kowloonwalledcity #hongkong #kowloon #colony #darkness #brutality #evil #sin #drug #dirty #dangerous #britishempire #chineseempire #三不管 #九龍寨城 #九龍城寨公園 #圍城 #港產片 #省港旗兵 #龍城歲月 #城寨出來者 #永夜之城 - @ellemenhk on Instagram

At first I was embarrassed to share this— but I changed my mind after receiving uplifting texts, FB messages, emails, and even stories from strangers of their own family connection to the frontlines of WWII. Got a little teary-eyed today on the noon show when I shared a pic. of my grandfather during his service in the war. Got a little tongue tied too.(Oh well) His name was James Kalei Kaholokula. Born in Pauwela, Maui. Part Japanese/ part Hawaiian, and fluent in both languages. He served in the 100th Infantry Battalion — considered the most decorated American unit. He used his language skills as MIS, military intelligence. He went on the join the 442nd Regimental combat team. He was part of the few who survived and returned home to Hawaii after the war. He became a musician, composing mele, like Pua ‘Olena, Keahiwela, Hule’ia, and many many more with our ohana group— Na Kaholokula. I’ve always had an appreciation for those servicemen and women, but I didn’t realize the magnitude of their selfless actions until later in life, listening to the stories my brother @the_baronk (the historian) would share— and interviewing survivors through my career. It’s hard not to be moved knowing they fought for our freedom— while MANY simultaneously fought against prejudice to prove their loyalty to a nation that once looked at them as the enemy. In a time where Hawai’i was in a state of change, it wasn’t easy being Hawaiian either. So that’s the reason behind today’s water works. Progress was slow because no one offered any assistance and I was too scared to ask. 🤷🏻♂️ But the slowest progress..is still 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨! 🐢 I’ve been working out consistently for 1-2 hours every day for the last decade, and now i look AMAZING…ly “𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚”. But I’m proud because even the slowest progress adds up over time. BEGINNINGS (30/07/11) - 9 years ago to this day. Under 14s AAGPS Cross Country Carnival at Kings finishing 36th/155 runners and 18th/110 out of GPS competitors - my first top 20 finish. Pictured here with @lukehoad13 who ran a cracker finishing in 10th place! Dear 14 year old me, Firstly I would like to say congratulations on your personal best! Its hard to imagine that you first joined cross country about a year ago as it was the soft sport option. Even if seems so now, there is much more than just running from A to B. One piece of advice Ive got for you to not take things for granted. You might not think too much about your future as a runner and just running for the sake of it. You are still pretty raw and havent been exposed to any injuries or rough patches. Yet. It also means that theres still plenty of time to change the perception of this sport. The road ahead is long. There is no easy way out. If you want an experience thats worthwhile, youre going to have to go through the absolute limits. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. To this day you havent run a zone carnival and your longest run is probably no more than 5k. I see potential for you to become a first grade runner and run a State Carnival. Sounds daunting but I back you to get there. Chances are you could go beyond there and even run a marathon some day. I might be starting to sound silly but Im sure you get the message. If you do commit, Im sure youll go far. Be sure to understand the why behind each run you do. Learn more about what your body is capable of and itll take you a long way. Not just race results but as a person too. Trust me, youll love it! Remember never take anything for granted. Youve got this, I know you do. All the best!! On June 5th, 1989 a solitary man with shopping bags in his hands blocked a column of Chinese Army tanks in Tiananmen square Beijing China after the military killed and and injured thousands of unarmed protestors the day before. On June 4, 1989, Chinese troops opened fire on civilians in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square — part of a bloody government crackdown on dissent that killed unknown numbers of unarmed pro-democracy protesters and bystanders throughout the city. The army seemed in complete control. But the next day, something remarkable happened. In an act that would reverberate around the world, a solitary man stood his ground before a column of advancing tanks on Chang’an Boulevard, which runs directly into Tiananmen Square. His identity and his ultimate fate remain a mystery — but his lonely act of defiance, captured by photographers watching nearby, became an icon of the fight for freedom around the globe. The so-called «Mao Zedong Company» has been arranging stuff regularly, and is an organization for remembering, upholding and spreading the legacy of chairman Mao Zedong. This is very dangerous for the CCP, and they try their utmost to stop and repress this activity. . Together with the «Proletarian Revolutionary Central Committee» and «Maoist Communist Party», the «Mao Zedong Company» has has experienced hardships in mainland China, and took advantage of the liberal-democracy in Hong Kong as refuge to hold conferences and marches. We know that people who f.ex have celebrated Mao’s birthday, have been abducted by the government (for example, Peking University student Qiu Zhanxuan).
