We are lost for words with this one! Swipe for more pics & read below to see what caused this failure. --- There are certain things that need to be considered when purchasing a set of #wheels. You need to make sure you not only get the correct size or the size that suits your fitment genre, you also need to factor in things like the PCD, the bore sizing, the offset/back spacing to suit the size of your brakes. For the most these things can be covered off by any shop or #wheel brand as these are details they have on hand. Now this brings us to these pictures which shows a wheel failure due to the owner grinding down the spokes on the inside of the wheel to clear the brake calipers. This compromised the structural integrity of the wheel which lead to the failure of the wheel when placed under stress/load. It is insane to think that someone would do this & think that it would be fine or acceptable. It is lucky no one was serious hurt or killed. If your wheels do not fit, never ever modify the structural integrity without discussing it for a professional & explore all other options before you get to this point. - My local tire shop finally figured out the mysterious vibration/wheel balance issue on my two-month old model three. Factory-installed noise-suppression foam on stock 18” aero wheels came loose and wadded up inside the tire. Hoping this might help anyone else this may have happened to.
