We’ve had a lot of time this year to think about what’s really important. We know it feels like there is so much that divides us right now, and that feeling can be debilitating. What we know for sure is that we aren’t here to live lives of individual gain. That can’t be the point. Where all members of that community understand that the struggles of their neighbor require attention and care and community participation. Patriotism is not a song. It is not reciting words or displaying a flag. It is your actions. It is in the purity of your heart. It is your desire to see everyone thrive and your willingness to help make that happen. It is suspension of judgment when all someone needs is kindness. This business we are in...this business of tea...it really is about shared humanity. It is about taking time for ourselves and for one another. It crosses cultures. It forces us to take the time to listen and see the things we might have been missing. And sometimes that last part is most important of all because it can inspire us to make changes to become better. Listen, we know these kinds of messages from businesses can be a bit 🙄 but we also know that we want to be a part of a community that is willing to carry on productive dialogue about important issues and act on it. We need to remind each other that we have more in common than we think, and that if we took away all outside forces and noise, we might be able to see the path toward positivity again. Even though our physical space isn’t open, we are always available to discuss community issues. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out. If you have an idea for how to make this community stronger, tell us about it. We know this city is full of creative people, let’s make some things happen. Let’s inspire our young people.
