Happy belated Mother’s Day @sarawalsh10 “You have the hardest job in the world, being a mother” -Bill Burr- And to all you so called “good husband/fathers” out there that posted on the actual day, shame on you. The truly grateful post a day late. “Why?” You ask? Well I’ll tell you why, because if you are really spending every second making Mother’s Day special for the mother in your life, you wouldn’t have a second to spare to post on social media. Fact. Here at St Vs, our team of midwives and obstetricians work closely with our families to help reduce some of the overwhelm and concerns that they may be feeling before coming in to deliver. We were thrilled when one of our special SVPB families shared their recent experience with us. No doubt this will provide a lot of comfort to our expecting families. Thank you, Rachel, for sharing this with us, and we hope you are enjoying those precious newborn cuddles with gorgeous baby Xavier. We checked out of the hospital on Monday, and I just wanted to take the time to say thank you to all the staff who made it a wonderful experience. I was so worried before the birth about how it would feel with all the covid restrictions and not having family visit, but in the end, it really didnt matter that much - our birth and stay was just as special. If anything, we loved our little hospital room bubble for those few days with plenty of time to rest and lots of attention from the midwives. Sophie was our midwife during the birth, and she was just amazing, showing nothing but kindness and patience and having a laugh at whatever it was I was saying while on the gas😂. All of the midwives taking care of us after were just wonderful - always understanding and helpful. And a big thank you to the overnight midwives. They came whenever we called and offered so much support rocking, burping, and cuddling baby Xavier throughout the night while providing us with so much advice and reassurance. It made it all so easy for us, and now we are home, there are moments I miss our little bubble and want to come back and see all the kind faces again. Parents At Work would like to acknowledge ING Australia on for their recent win in the parental leave equality space.⠀ ⠀ It’s been one year since they became the first bank in Australia to significantly shake up its paid parental leave policy, and they seem a fourfold increase in dads taking more than two weeks’ in this time.⠀ ⠀ This equates to 40 dads taking the time off to be with a new child in comparison to 10 in 2019. ⠀ ⠀ The company have also released new research surveying 400 parents who have been on parental leave during the pandemic, with three quarters of them women.⠀ ⠀ They found that one third (33 per cent) of partners of primary caregivers said their leave wasn’t enough to support their partner after their baby was born. The count down is on 🤍🤍🤍🤍 to finally being back to a family of 4! To all you single + working parents, and to parents who’s partners travel for extended periods of time... I bow down to you, bc it’s not easy. It’s been 7 weeks, and I’m so ready to share the workload and responsibilities. I used to feel resentful when @awalkk35 traveled for work... (he stays in hotels, has someone making his bed, doing his dishes, he is going to yoga classes in his free time, grocery shopping alone, eating in restaurants, using the bathroom in peace 😅, the list goes on!)... but when asked if I’d trade places, the answer was absolutely NO. The truth is, while it’s hard af to parent alone, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This time with our littles is so precious and so fleeting, and I don’t take it for granted that I get to hold them, and smell them, and snuggle then (so much snuggling!), while andrew only gets to see them via FaceTime. Being apart is hard for him, it’s hard for me, and it’s hard for the boys, so really we just have to accept that this is our life, and be grateful. I’m grateful for the times when we’re together, also for him working when we’re apart, for the chaos when I’m alone with the boys, and today I’m especially grateful for someone to help do the all dishes 😜 can’t wait to see you my Love 🤍 - @casstroywalker on Instagram
