As a small business, the most uncertain time is when you first open those doors. You put in months (sometimes years) of work and it all comes down to that opening day. Will anyone even show up? Is this going to work out? Will people like it? Once you get going and you start to experience some sort of consistency and confidence in what youve built, you begin to breathe again. Then COVID19 hit in March and since then, small businesses have been reliving that uncertainty every single day. Every business has been hit with its own unique challenges and have had to change how they do business with no end in sight. It feels like starting from day one over and over again. For us, this has meant switching from walk-in service to exclusively one day advance orders for pickup and local delivery. It would be irresponsible for us to continue business as usual knowing that our business attracts line ups of 50+ people on our busiest days. Preorders are the safest way for us to control the crowds and greatly reduce wait times. As we start to enter the colder months, it is only going to get harder. With this in mind, please be patient with your local small businesses and respect how they have chosen to safely operate during these weird times. Support them when possible (this could be as simple as a like, comment, share, or save on social media) and keep them in mind as the holiday seasons approach! We will never forget the love and support we have felt from all of you since the day we opened. Seeing photos of the lineup around the corner on our first week open is still surreal almost 6 years later.
