Super excited for my new book, ‘Grandmas are Greater than Great’ with author, @jamessolheim published by @harperkids. In this story of a family of grandmas spanning 250 years, children can see how tiny caring gestures grow and spread exponentially throughout time. The book comes out Feb 9, 2021 but you can pre-order the book now at sites like bookshop.org which supports your local bookstore. I’ve put the link in my bio 🥰 - @derekdesierto on Instagram

Gene told me that Tamara Toumanova was living in the Hotel Princess Elizabeth when he met with her to discuss her being in Invitation to the Dance. He said phone service was so bad in those days that everything had to be done by wires. Toumanova said, “Please come see me. I want to be in this movie!” So Gene flew to Paris to meet with her. As he said, I had a place for her. I was going to dance with Diana Adams and she was going to do the next thing with another guy.” But Toumanova said she would not do the movie unless she danced with Gene. “So I had to make the switch,” he explained. “Then she had, I think, only two and a half weeks. But I was so anxious to get her. She was one of the famous ‘baby ballerinas’ and the epitome of star class in the ballet world. I said, ‘yes,’ so she had to play the whore on the street.” Even in still photographs like this one, I feel the sensuality in their pas de deux is palpable. #genekelly #genekellylegacy - @genekellylegacy on Instagram

*Movie* *IMDb: 5.9 *Comedy* #AroundtheWorldin80Days is a 2004 #American #action #adventure #comedy #film based on #JulesVerne s 1873 #novel of the same #name and remake of the #movie of the same name of 1956. It stars #JackieChan , #SteveCoogan and #CéciledeFrance . The film is set in the #nineteenthcentury and centers on #PhileasFogg (Coogan), here reimagined as an #eccentric #inventor , and his efforts to circumnavigate the #globe in #80days . During the #trip , he is accompanied by his #Chinese #valet , Passepartout (Chan). For comedic reasons, the film intentionally deviated wildly from the novel and included a number of #anachronistic elements. Director Frank Coraci plays fast and loose with Jules Vernes classic tome Around The World In 80 Days, but his adaptation never runs out of gas. Steve Coogan dons the top hat and tails of 19th century inventor Phileas Fogg, but the real #star of the show is Jackie Chan as his hapless valet Passepartout. With his inimitable blend of slapstick and chop-socky, he puts the kick in sidekick - and just about compensates for the many holes you could punch through the script. Coogan retains the pomp of Alan Partridge to play the visionary scientist whos mocked by his peers for espousing outlandish ideas about combustible engines , flying machines, and, um, rollerblades. When his credibility is brought into question by the head of #TheRoyalAcademyOfScience (a shamelessly hammy Jim Broadbent), Fogg stakes his reputation - as well as his livelihood - on the hypothesis that he can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. #vacation #scientist #science #speed #travelling - @watch_recommender on Instagram

From beginnings in Scotland’s fabric mills to polo grounds in the UK, John E. Brooks ultimately brought the OCBD to the international market. In the early 1900’s, however, the iconic button down was still limited in styling; formal suiting was perhaps the only place you’d see an Oxford. Then, along came John F. Kennedy. . Possibly the most notable wearer of the OCBD, Kennedy explored the idea that button downs can be dressed up or dressed down. From White House meetings to New England sailboat tours,JFK was often spotted with his trusty Oxford. But the Oxford shirt earned this versatility. The relaxed nature of the fabric and unstructured collar gives the OCBD an inherently more casual appearance than its starched counterparts. However, correlation to a history of formalwear gives the Oxford enough authority to wear even with a five-piece suit. . JFK’s sartorial influence was ultimately appropriated by Ivy League students in the 1960’s. Students paired their Oxfords with shorts, boat shoes, casual sweaters, and more, echoing Kennedy’s informal take on the shirt. The paradigm of the formal button down thus began to shift, and we’ve never looked back. . The great “de-formalizing” of the Oxford proved that the shirt is perhaps the most versatile piece in any wardrobe. We look at Ivy League’s appropriation of the OCBD less as a stylistic trajectory, but rather as a case study of the shirt’s versatility. Since its departure from formality, the OCBD has been worn in business casual, vacation-wear, and even in streetwear. It’s now difficult to say what genre the Oxford belongs to because it simply transcends style. But after such a long sartorial history, perhaps that was inevitable. After all, the OCBD isn’t the most iconic button down shirt for no good reason. So, to the Scottish fabric mills and polo players who started it all, we say thank you #madeintheUSA - @gitmanbros on Instagram

Since Disneyland is still closed many guests are booking trips to Walt Disney World. If that’s you then you’ll find this post VERY helpful! Plus I’ve created a FREE printable listing all the rides BOTH parks have in common. Which Disneyland rides do they have at Walt Disney World? Are they the same or different, which park has the better version? These questions and more are found in my NEW blog post search ride comparison at disneylandtourguide.com 🏰 If you are typically a Disneyland guest going to WDW you’ll see many duplicate attractions. Some are basically the same with a small difference. But I’m going to break it down ride by ride so you can decide if you want to skip the ride or not. Many of the rides are classics and you may still want to ride them. But if you find yourself in a time crunch I will suggest which ones you can skip. I may even recommend if you’ve done the ride at Disneyland you don’t need to do it at WDW thus giving you time to explore things we don’t have at Disneyland. 🏰 One thing you will find is the ride itself might be basically the same, but the queues in WDW in general are more elaborate and interactive. 🏰 For all you old timers like me who remember Disneyland as a kid I will be sure to mention the attractions that used to be at Disneyland and have made a permanent home at Walt Disney World. These are rides you won’t want to miss. 🏰 The list is organized by park then categorized by land. Swipe to see part of the list. It’s free for your personal use. Take it with you on your trip to help you navigate the parks with your Disneyland knowledge! Tag your family and friends who may need this information or save for a future trip to @waltdisneyworld If you have any questions let me know. . . . . #disneylandtourguide #disneyplans #waltdisneyworld #magickingdom #disneymom #disneytips #disneytipsandtricks #disneytourguide #disneytouring #travelblogger #loveorlando #disneyland #disney #disneymom #disneycreators #disneyblogger #disneytourguide #disneytouring #disneyparks #disneysmc #disneyplanning #disneyplan #disneyfamily #disneyinfluencer #disneytrip #disneylandvswdw #wdw - @disneylandtourguide on Instagram

Flashback to this funny moment in 1957, with Walt celebrating the 1st anniversary of “Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club Magazine” with Mouseketeers Sharon, Karen, and Cubby. #DisneyLegend Kevin Corcoran (aka “Moochie”) was not officially a Mouseketeer, but he appeared on “Mickey Mouse Club” (TV, 1955-1959) and was given his very own ears and custom shirt. And of course he wanted a piece of that yummy cake! - @waltdisneyarchives on Instagram
