It feels like years ago that I made this whimsical assemblage - Lawn Canon - with bound chunks of painted sidewalk, scraps of astroturf, and tree root fragments for @maiden.la and @montevistaprojects LOIMBY (lawn ornaments in my backyard) show. This was the first of several shows that were cancelled when everything had to shut down, so it feels especially joyous to be dropping this off today for High Beams - an open air show on the roof of parking structure in downtown LA by the @bendixbuilding community. Dinosaurs and Deadlifts We’ve been waiting a long time to announce what our two “things” are. You see, every fitness clothing company has their two things and there is immense pressure to follow suit. What do we mean? Well there are MANY great brands that use alliteration and have two nouns in the title: Caffeine and Kilos, Donuts and Deadlifts, Bacon and Barbells etc. So what are OUR two things? Sloth bears are important seed dispersers for several tree and plant species. They scatter the seeds of the fruits they eat far and wide, helping floral species to regenerate. This morning in North Vancouver a black bear found itself trapped inside a vehicle. The bear (not pictured) was able to access the vehicle easily and gained a high calorie food reward once inside. Thankfully, the homeowners freed the bear, who then escaped to a nearby green space. Bears that cause property damage, eat unnatural foods or enter a confined space often pay with their lives. Bears are intelligent animals and they have great memories, especially when it concerns food rewards and where to find them.
