The George Floyd Protest in Oakland tonight was small in terms of protesters compared to Occupy and Oscar Grant but big in property damage; mainly corporate stores but a fair number of mom and pop establishments also got thrashed. Most fires were in the center of the street and mainly trash where they could have easily been all this new construction in downtown. The crowd was a mix of locals and distinctly not locals. In Oakland it’s always eye opening how many of the people arrested aren’t from here at events like this.
