Yesterday the @theleachpottery released a limited edition run of 100 Yunomi to celebrate their Centenary. Yunomis are my favourite pottery object to make and to collect. As a maker they are the perfect vehicle to explore techniques and aesthetics and express yourself, your thoughts and interests. As a collector they are an affordable way of buying work by potters you admire and they are such tactile objects to pick up and admire and they are fully functional pieces of Art. I was poised ready for the release at midday yesterday and was lucky enough to get my favourite Yunomi from the 100. HAI MAI ASSAGGIATO LA NDUJA ? 🌶 🌶 La Nduja è uno dei più famosi, se non il più famoso, tra i prodotti alimentari calabresi. ll suo nome deriva dal francese andouille, che vuol dire salsiccia. Tipica di Spilinga in particolare, e di tutto il territorio di Vibo Valentia in generale; è un salame morbido, spalmabile, piccantissimo. Originariamente la nduja era un alimento povero, e veniva infatti preparato usando le parti meno nobili del maiale come interiora, trippa e polmoni. Al giorno doggi, invece, vengono destinate alla produzione della nduja le parti migliori del maiale, che vengono impastate con sale e peperoncino. Il tutto viene poi insaccato in budello naturale. Questo fantastico salume morbido viene poi leggermente affumicato prima di essere stagionato per alcuni mesi. È quasi superfluo sottolineare come la nduja, grazie al gusto squisito e al piccante dovuto a tanto peperoncino, viene da alcuni considerata afrodisiaca. (Anche la qualita del peperoncino ha la sua importanza per ottenere un risultato tanto caratteristico.) Tradizionalmente la Nduja di Spilinga viene servita spalmata su una fetta di pane abbrustolito caldo, come condimento per la pasta, o sulla pizza. Ive just added this vase to my website as part of #artistsupportpledge @artistsupportpledge I made it in 2018 and has been returned to me from one of my Galleries. Thrown and altered iron rich clay, black Tenmoku glazed bottom portion, white slip and ash glazed upper.... Stoneware : approx 25.5cm tall Gas and wood fired to 1300°C with added soda carbonate towards the end of the firing. 2018 Normally £290.00 but as part of the artist support pledge Im offing it at £190.00 plus a contribution towards P&P(UK) Shipping in the UK only at the moment sorry. more about the fantastic initiative here....
