Sally spanked us hard too for the last 24 and I have friends who are flooded. But I have to say, tonight is the New Moon, and the waters are receding. Tonight I would’ve been shooting the sweet summer Milk with one of those friends who was harshly affected by Sally, if the sky’s were clear, but they aren’t yet. I missed doing that tonight, I always have so much fun shooting with her, and could’ve used a clear view of the gorgeous heavens especially on this night. Right we’re finally back in London... at home... sleeping in our own bed 😎 It’s been an amazing but hectic couple of weeks exploring Wales, Cornwall and Dartmoor - creating some delicious, bite-sized Achievable Adventures to hopefully inspire/ show people what’s possible right here in the UK. We’ve been doing a lot of thinking/talking recently about how to make everything we do more useful to you guys as we truly believe that taking regular adventures is something everyone could benefit from. Now that we’re in one place for a bit with consistent WiFi we’re going to have our heads down curating everything we captured and hopefully delivering it in some genuinely informative and inspirational formats across both here and our site... which for the first time ever we’re going to give some proper love to. Not to bang on too much about it now but the aim is to essentially create UK adventure inspiration that we feel is lacking online... real, exciting, sustainable, eye opening, comfort zone pushing stuff (but for every day people like us - not your hardcore endurance athletes!). As we start to roll this out we would really love to hear your thoughts, what’s good, what’s rubbish and everything in between. This is a night I would never forget. I have this shot in mind when I first visited this park during the day and this was a few years ago. But I never dare to do it on my own, especially out at night! The farm animals look much more scarier at night 😅🐄🐑 Then one day I decided to go for it. It was such a clear night and I only have around 1 hour after sunset before the milkyway becomes too high and the moon is up. As I headed back, I make a wrong turn and got lost for like 20 mins. I couldnt find the path back and got a wee bit scare! Haha a bit scare lol. I was even thinking, maybe I should start calling for help lol, but decided to retrace my steps. As I retrace my path back I manage to find the path again! Definitely a night I would never forget!! Nevertheless Im so glad I venture out! You will be so glad just staring up into billion of stars shining brightly down on you! Grateful for Gods creation! Not everything I post is ready to print especially my Milkyway shots as im still learning how to shoot and edit for printing, this particular image which was posted before with a different edit caught the attention of someone and they really wanted it so I had to re visit it and try to make it work. // July 19, 11:00 p.m., Shenandoah— She had studied the universe all her life, but had overlooked its clearest message: For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. -Carl Sagan The rules for astrophotography are pretty simple. I memorized them before I left my house in a spontaneous attempt to catch our rare celestial visitor, Lady Neowise. The camera needs to be completely still (tripod: check), the lens wide open for maximum light-gathering (f/2.8: check), and one should be armed with patience for much trial and error (snacks: check). Standing there, way up above the stale heat of the city in the cool mountain air beneath a blanket of stars, I realized these simple photography rules were relevant to life in general. In dark times, uncertain times, the impulse is to run, to get away, to hide, to close ones eyes and shut everything out. But maybe its in total stillness, in settling into discomfort, that light enters. That the eyes adjust. Maybe our light-gathering potential lies in our capacity to stay open despite having every reason to be closed off. Maybe the altitude was getting to me 😅. Thanks for the memories, Neowise. Got up at 3:30am Sunday to check out #comet #neowise and wasn’t disappointed. Found a spot in Central Park with good NE views and could easily see the comet as a small white ‘scratch’ in the sky. Definitely check it out if you can! Prvi puta ove godine bili smo na Dinari.⛰️ Plan je bio autom doći do PK Brezovac i pješke krenuti do najvišeg vrha Hrvatske, Sinjala. (Cesta do PK Brezovac je odlična i može se osobnim autom, hvala svima koji su ekspresno odgovorili na story kada smo vas pitali o stanju ceste, iako su mnogi rekli da nije moguće doći autom, cesta je nedavno obnovljena i u super je stanju.) Na putu do vrha prvo stižemo do PS Zlatko Prgin do kojeg nam je trebalo cca 2h, savršeno mjesto za napraviti pauzu prije oštrog uspona na Sinjal.😁 Uspon do samog vrha je baš strm, ali ne bi bilo fora da se malo ne pomučimo do najvišeg vrha Hrvatske! Nakon 3h i 30min stigli smo na Sinjal, osjećaj je bio fantastičan! Dan nije mogao biti ljepši, a uz blagi povjetarac uživali smo na suncu i na vrhu proveli više od sat vremena.🌤️ Sljedeća postaja bilo nam je PS Drago Grubać, predivno planinarsko sklonište savršeno smješteno na livadi ispod vrha Dinare. Od vrha do skloništa ima nešto malo više od sat vremena laganog hoda, a ispred njega će vas dočekati bunar s odličnom hladnom vodom! Baš to nam je trebalo!😁💧 Sklonište je predivno i super opremljeno, ne treba puno pisati o tome kako se članovi PU Dinaridi brinu o svojim objektima!💚 Za kraj dana nebo nas je počastilo predivnim zalaskom, nije nam bilo druge nego sjesti i uživati u ljepoti i posljednjim zrakama sunca. Noć je također imala svoje čari pa smo tako uživali u predivnom zvijezdanom nebu i pogledu na Mliječnu stazu koja se savršeno vidjela golim okom, čari su to ovakvih avantura daleko od svjetla grada!🌌 Iduće jutro istim putem kojim smo i došli vratili smo se natrag, iako je super opcija spustiti se do Glavaša, ako ste u mogućnosti srediti neki prijevoz pa da se ne vraćate istim putem kojim ste i došli!😁 I u ovoj avanturi podršku nam je pružio @bimsportoutdoor gdje smo nabavili svu potrebnu opremu za planinarenje!💛 P.S. This massive telescope is used by scientists all over the world to research the vast unknowns of space. It sets 485 feet tall and has a collection area of 2.3 acres. This telescope also sits on an interesting plot of land known as the National Radio Quiet Zone. Over 100 miles of no cell phone service, internet, radio, or TV. The telescope is so sensitive that it can even pick up the radio waves being sent from the camera that took this shot. Como la mayoría, soy un amante de las estrellas y una de las cosas que más disfruto de los campamentos es poder esperar a que la noche llegue y deleitarme con millones de estrellas que hay en el firmamento. Sabemos que nuestros ojos pueden distinguir apenas unas cuantas de ellas, pero acá es donde entra la cámara. Una de las cosas que mas me apasionó en mi etapa de estudiante era el hecho de que, por este medio; podía capturar muchísimas de ellas, así que me volví un fanático nocturno y empecé a retratar la belleza que nos ofrecen los cielos nocturnos, libres de contaminación lumínica. En Perú tenemos muchos lugares para poder disfrutar de este espectáculo y el cielo andino es por excelencia el mejor lugar. En esta foto vemos parte de la constelación de Andrómeda, Messier 31 (Galaxia de Andrómeda). Es la más cercana a nuestro universo, a eso le sumamos un meteorito de la lluvia de meteoros de las Perseidas. We knew the Perseids were coming and contemplated heading out to Joshua Tree Tuesday evening to try and catch the shower. It’s a long drive to take on a weeknight with work early the next day, but at the last minute we said, “Let’s do it!” Got to JT around 9 pm and stayed for about 2.5 hours. Saw maybe 20 meteors in that time. Was hoping for more but no regrets. As soon as I sat under this beautiful sky, I knew the drive and lack of sleep would be worth it. All of the planets were in the sky when these two had their ceremony (even though it was daytime and you couldn’t see them -planets are small in the sky as well- so I just photoshopped them in 😌). Whether you follow astrology or astronomy, being mindful about the celestial events during your wedding makes sense. Een van de hoogtepunten van het weekendje Terschelling was de Dark Sky huifkartocht van @puurterschelling. Wij trokken er om 21:00 ‘s avonds met de huifkar op uit om over het strand richting de Boschplaat te rijden. Na een paar minuutjes deed ik mijn hoofd naar achter om even naar de hemel te kijken en toen was ik even stil... 😮✨ Man man man wat mooi!! Ik heb in mijn leven nog nooit zoveel sterren bij elkaar gezien. Wat een ervaring en dat zo dichtbij huis. Na de tocht zijn wij onder het genot van een 🥃 Syltsje en een biertje 🍺 nog even verder gegaan met foto’s maken. Hier onze duintent waar wij die nacht (heel eventjes 😆) hebben geslapen. Het was een fantastisch avontuur. It’s operated by CSIRO’s Astronomy and Space Science division & is the largest & most powerful radio telescope in the southern hemisphere. The image itself was a bit challenging as the telescope dome moved during the frames and I had to stitch this part manually. 4 years ago I went on a trip to Moab. That was the first time I really explored the National Parks and the first time I ever saw the Milky Way with my own eyes. Seeing that many stars... it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Ever since then I’ve been craving that sight and I haven’t been able get it out of my head. • Last weekend Andrew and I went camping up north and once again the Milky Way made its appearance and I knew this was my moment to attempt to photograph it. • Would you believe me if I told you this was my first time trying?? I didn’t expect anything to come out of it but once I got home and uploaded the photos I was shocked! Haha I’ve been obsessed with these pictures all week and been dying to show them to everybody. I rarely post a Milky Way photo with out some type of stacking, usually in deep sky stacker with a ton of photos and usually with dark, flat and bias frames. I was out the other night and shot some single exposures with the zeiss batis 25mm f2. Was extremely happy with these, being a 10 second exposure, iso 3200 at f2 I was surprised with how much light this lens lets in over such a short single exposure. I actually now prefer this lens over the Sony 24mm gm 1.4. Shot on monday at Mount Laguna. Shot on Sony a7rii - zeiss batis 25mm at f2, iso 3200, 10” seconds - no extra processing in photoshop, just a simple split tone in Lightroom mobile. - @bclimbss on Instagram
